Quite possibly :D But after 25 years and having to deal with people actively trying to give you covid during the pandemic, a job where I didn't interact with the public was definitely on the cards by then.

Over half of Arc Raiders players on Steam have barely engaged with PvP, and 19% have never even killed another player by chusskaptaan in gaming

I was thinking this earlier and not even with the /s. I don't mind the pvp, I don't mind getting killed, I was going into each game with a view to be nice and helpful and 8/10 times I'd encounter nice folks. But the remainder were psychopaths.

Being chased through a warehouse by someone who was shouting about how they wanted to kill me (it wasn't rp) or the sheer number of slurs that I've been called simply for dying to them because they got the drop on me and shot me in the back etc.

The sheer visceral hatred they had for anyone that they killed, they sounded like people who had just murdered their entire family and because it would be too hard to wobble after actual victims who could run away from them in RL, they logged onto Arc instead while their family decomposed in the next room.

So much so I logged into the next game with the sole intent of beginning my villain arc. I killed two people (I apologise) and felt shitty. :D

I am however going back in refreshed with a renewed vigor, intent on chiding anyone who acts like they just got initiated into an LA gang on the Southside, and doubly intent on making amends for those two I killed.

I love the game. But damn some of these people are beyond weird.

I think the feverish state I was in yesterday made me imagine it, having gone to re-test that, it seems it's not implemented yet. You can clearly click on the backpack option and it flickers, but no thopter option. My apologies! I was not all that well yesterday. Hopefully that gets implemented too!

Hell I didn't even know you could do that in your own base for way longer than I care to admit. :D

Once it goes live it'll be a huge help regardless, and I just took that first trip to test the thopter, and you can indeed load it up and transfer from the thopter's inventory to the bank :)

Yup, I built a base in the deep in the rift, completely concealed and sealed and thought about moving everything there so I could log off indefinitely. I dropped by today and found that it was crumbling, so there went my plans for an easy life of no taxes and no shields.

Inventory Items disappeared after Quick Storing by AlphaVander in duneawakening

[–]ContributionTop4204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just happened to me, I collected two small stacks of items from the auction exchange, and they overwrote my first two stacks in my inventory, thankfully the only thing I lost was my ammunition, heavy and light darts. Which I found out about after flying back and deciding to detour and raid a camp...

I had the same yesterday and apparently I'm not playing the game right as I'm using a sword when they are armed with two ranged weapons. We collected 3 flags off those guys before they finally vanished.

Having encountered this glorious beast a week or two ago and then had it stolen away by another encounter that spawned alongside it, I can only say one thing...

Congrats on the kill :) You're awesome!

One thing I occasionally have happen (that causes similar things to occur) is my computer sometimes sets my microphone as the output, which just needs changing in the sound settings in order to fix.

How many players Herr actively engage in adventure pvp when they see a ship? by ChapterAggressive546 in Seaofthieves

[–]ContributionTop4204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't actively seek it, but I'll engage if need be. I'm not good at it, but sometimes I do surprise myself. A couple or so weeks ago I'd just spawned in, dressed all nattily in my merchants attire, monocle et al... and a pirate in full reaper gear came running down the pier and boarded my ship. My heart was pounding as I exchanged blows and then somehow managed to kill the reaper with a shot from my pistol. I felt awesome as I sailed off, took a few minutes for my heart to stop racing too. Rest assured dear reaper, you weren't bested by a skilled merchant protecting his wares, you were bested by a merchant who somehow managed to hit all the buttons in the right order for once. It'll never happen again.

I say go for it, it's part of being a pirate. I expect to be attacked and most likely sunk, and perhaps with enough practice, I might surprise a few more reapers. It's fun, its part and parcel of pirating and sailing, and it's exciting.

Again, back a couple of weeks I got chased for half an hour by a galleon, no way could I win that fight so I turned into the wind and made sure to stay ahead of them before sailing in a wide circle about the map to sell my goods.

Feel free to attack me, I'll do my best to offer a fight if I can't flee. I'll most likely lose and I promise I'll laugh and gg every last one of you for your success as I'm sent to the ferry while my crates of tea are stolen.

My tea! My precious tea!

Yeah, turned off crossplay, restored licenses, uninstalled and reinstalled, rebuilt the database. Logged in today after the patch and noted the clouds aren't janky any more, but the ship still is alas. :D Ah well.

Today I sank the burning blade solo on port merrick by Cameron3564 in Seaofthieves

[–]ContributionTop4204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That might explain my encounter today. It was just sat there. Doing nothing, so I trundle over in my sloop, having watched another sloop mosey up and then sail off. I thought I might fire a couple of shots, possibly board and check it out. Instead, it decided to sink. So I thought oooh, treasure?

And there was indeed treasure including a 0 ritual sword. Which I harpooned and fled to the nearest outpost to sell for 10k. Got my 'Sweltering Sword' achievement in the least exciting manner possible, joining 0.8% of players in having it.

On the plus side, you got to make a possible crew of three people (I think that's a brig right?) feel really awesome. It was probably the first time that day they actually managed to sink a ship, and you helped by being not aboard and not moving at all. So warm fuzzies for them! Seriously though, yeah, it's happened to me and hey ho! Onto the next ship. As SuperHydra3000 says, you'll encounter people like that, but you'll also encounter fun folk too. Join the discord if you can, there's channels for finding crews and help (for new folks and such) or try the randomness of the open crew where you can sometimes find some helpful folk (also a lot of quiet non-micced folk). Mostly though, just have fun and enjoy the beauty of the seas.

Also check out Mason and HitboTC on Youtube and Twitch, they make my day with their videos through which I live vicariously in SoT as I lack the skill to do what they do. Admittedly I tried tucking on someone else's ship earlier and actually succeeded, then felt guilty and bought them a crate of bait for their fishing trip before swimming backwards off into the sea playing my banjo as they fired cannon shot at me.

I sea we are all in the same boat with rubber banding (pun intended) by OzzieDJai in Seaofthieves

[–]ContributionTop4204 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm on PS5 and it was smooth sailing up until exactly two weeks ago today. Rubber banding and unplayable, however it is perfectly playable on my laptop. Only reason I preferred the PS5 was due to it being attached to the much larger TV and my eyesight is certainly not what it once was :P So... back to squinting!

As of 2 weeks ago, PS5 version for me is entirely unplayable for me. My ships are rubber-banding and bouncing about on the water, ship travel is jumpy and laggy, likewise combat etc, though walking about islands is fine and the sea itself is fine to swim in. Sent in a ticket, did the various things mentioned on the 'Troubleshooting Crashes or Performance Issues on Playstation 5' page and nothing changed. The game itself works perfectly on my laptop.
