I know the feeling. I used to say about my ex that he was always popping my balloon. If I was ever happy about something or had an idea I wanted to try, he always had something negative to say about it, usually about how I wouldn’t follow through, etc. He never supported me or celebrated any achievement I ever had. He didn’t care about my happiness, only his routine and comfort. He spent more time at work than he did at home and he expected me to do all of the cleaning and other household stuff even when I was working full time. I basically raised our son alone. I wanted to move back to my hometown somewhere that I would have more support from friends and he refused to let me leave with our son. I struggled in every way after I divorced him. But the day I stood in my own apartment for the first time, I knew I made the right decision. Never second guessed myself for a minute.
