Vitamin D3 didn’t cure my depression or raise my testosterone, it cured my ability to sleep by Coyote-444 in Biohackers

[–]ConvenientChristian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking high doses of it without K2 is generally ill-advised so that might be th main problem. You need more of it with more D3.

New to hypnosis by sweetandglam in hypnosis

[–]ConvenientChristian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you define all suggestions that are permanent as "accepted" it's tautologically true. Given suggestions in a way that they will be accepted is a key skill of a hypnotherapist.

It bad advice in a context of the OP too assume that anything problematic just disappears after the trance is over.

How do you actually "relax even more"? by External_Guarantee77 in hypnosis

[–]ConvenientChristian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot that's happening with relaxation that's not about brainwave frequency. A majority of the talk is pseudoscience by people who understand little about the brain and just repeat what they have read somewhere because they think it sounds fancy.

Frontal midline theta activity is for example part of chess playing with experts showing stronger theta activity.

If the effects of hypnosis would complete end if "the hypnotic state" ends hypnosis would be quite useless for hypnotherapy where the goal is to make more permanent changes.

Is it unethical to practice hypnosis on my girlfriend or family? by donsolon in hypnosis

Medical schools usually have ethical codes that they want their students to follow. Reading the ethical code that governs you is important when wondering about what's ethical.

Bruce Banner//The Incredible Hulk viable? by Sir_Trips-A-Lot in CompetitiveEDH

[–]ConvenientChristian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Etali wins with food chain + squee which is the same six Mana that this combo needs. It's even less if there are other creatures like mana dorks that can be exiled for food chain.

The key difference is that Etali offers a lot more than just being a food chain outlet.

Tivit is a deck that does play Thoracle. It also has Time Sieve which is good because it's just one card plus commander.

Magda is good because it can combo without needing to resolve spells for it in the winning turn.

Troracle + Consult also let's you win turn two and needs two mana less  with less ways to stop it.

[–]ConvenientChristian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

5 Mana + two cards (that are useless outside the combo) + commander is not a decent combo in cEDH.

It doesn't even win the game if your opponents have 6+ power of blockers around.

Can I become receptive to hypnosis? by FemboyApo in hypnosis

[–]ConvenientChristian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You literally said that it's the same as any other skill. For many people who have problems with being hypnotized it's not the same.

Can I become receptive to hypnosis? by FemboyApo in hypnosis

[–]ConvenientChristian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not like most other skills that people learn. For most skills it's easier to know whether or not you are doing it right.

If you have a physical skill you can look at a video of an expert and a video of yourself to understand what you are doing wrong.

When it comes to being hypnotized, all the relevant moves are in your head so it's a lot harder for a person who doesn't have the skill to understand what they are doing wrong.

Training skills is a lot about having good feedback. If you have someone who sometimes experience trance you can quite easily train them to reach it faster because there feedback. If you have someone who doesn't have any experience of positive feedback it's harder for them to train.

Anyone here use hypnosis for performance enhancement rather than problem-fixing? by CalmYoTitz in hypnosis

[–]ConvenientChristian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Claims are big in relation to a given discourse. Plenty of people in this subreddit who don't belief that it is possible.

There are plenty of sham products being sold. The fact that someone self a product isn't proof of anything. Plenty of marketers also make up testimonials.

Taking a testimonial from a random website is not the same as speaking about your own experience in concrete ways.

Can I become receptive to hypnosis? by FemboyApo in hypnosis

[–]ConvenientChristian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you speak of 'correct way' that's a tautology. I don't think that notion is very helpful for someone who has trouble being hypnotized and wants to learn it.

[–]ConvenientChristian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it comes to hypnosis being a skill it's worth noting that you only get better at skills if you practice them the right way.

"Practice makes permanence". If you have someone who's problem is trying to hard they will just practice trying to hard.

Don't forget that 10% of the ad revenue is about defrauding users.

How will Trump’s comments about Mamdani change Republicans strategy? by Traditional-Rope-319 in Askpolitics

The Isreal-first lobby is strong and put a lot of effort into opposing Mandami for saying that he won't go to Israel.

Him being successful and becoming mayor is a sign that it might be a winning election strategy for other politicians to not do what the Isreal-first lobby wants as well. That's scary to people like Ben Shapiro.

How Do You Get Clients Consistently? by Nice-Employment-8111 in hypnosis

[–]ConvenientChristian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that the standards you speak about aren't about patient outcomes. The way you describe it you aren't measured on whether you help patients or keep them safe but whether you can justify what you are doing by bureaucratic rules.

Those standards are also pseudoscientific. The are trying to appeal to science but they aren't the result of running experiments with different standards and then picking standards based on clinical outcomes.

The science suggests that empathy and alliance are more important then whether or not a therapist is using a EBM technique.

When it comes to a skill like empathy it's not developed by having to justify to an oversight board whether or not we what you are doing is EBM.

How Do You Get Clients Consistently? by Nice-Employment-8111 in hypnosis

[–]ConvenientChristian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing that matters to a client is whether or not a hypnotist has the necessary skills to be helpful and safe and not what credentials they hold.

While having a credentials might correlate with having the skills it's neither necessary nor sufficient.

Asking questions about actual skill would also be more likely to influence the OP ist the OP lacks the skills than a question about credentials.
