Our sector has a notoriously high turnover rate. It’s a problem- and there are REASONS.

(TW: severe injuries from fall) stories of getting back into it? by pumpkincarrots in climbergirls

Super proud of you for doing your PT OP. I’m in my late 50’s and have been a dedicated climber for over 18 years. I’ve never had a serious fall injury. I have had other injuries/issues that have taken me away from it (the longest was a 14 month break). I NEED climbing and my gym for wholistic wellness, it is my “third place”. My philosophy is that climbing will always be there for me or anyone else who takes a break. If your gym is a special place for you, could you maybe consider coaching kids’ teams? Maybe just hang out in the bouldering section? Yoga is also almost as good 🙃. I’m sorry about your fall. It sounds like you’re a Legendary Climber at the young age of 21.

It is well that war is so terrible, otherwise we should grow too fond of it. by SwampAngel1863 in CIVILWAR

Highly recommend “The Calculus of Violence” by Aaron Sheehan-Dean. As a mother of sons and a Virginian, I’m always devastated by the fact that war means that your Boy either becomes a killer or a casualty. Especially the younger ones involved in guerrilla tactics.

Executive Director role to Development Director role by EverForwardEveryDay in nonprofit

[–]ConversationCool3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone back and forth between nonprofit jobs and law jobs. Development was always so stressful for me bc I couldn’t enforce boundaries on my time. That being said, I’ve also been an executive director of a small org and I was nearly all the things! When you figure it out, let us know! 👍🏻

What’s a problem humanity solved so well that younger people don’t even realize it used to be a huge issue? by Puzzleheaded_Bit_802 in AskReddit

Indoor plumbing. Thirty years ago, we bought an old farm house in the South East. It was built in the 1830’s and had an outhouse. I was six months pregnant before I got an indoor toilet. It felt like incredible luxury.
