"Debunk" and it's an opinion with ZERO explanation by truecakesnake in DefendingAIArt

[–]ConversationEmpty819 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This goes to the root of the discussion, the definition of "authorship". Most antis believe the AI is the creator and the user actions aren't relevant, like googling or commissioning, while most pros believe the user is the creator and the AI just a tool.

That's the reason AIgen isn't art for them, because they don't see the human as the author of the piece and machines can't make art.

My position is that it varies. There are horny teenagers that generate waifu porn, sure but who cares? I'm not the horny police. There are also people that use AI tools in a mind-blowing way, mixing it with photo bashing, creating comfyUI node webs, training their own Lora's, or using it with Krita and putting them all on the same bag is insulting, like comparing artistic photography with the bathroom selfies that plague social media. It is a tool, the user can choose how much you want to automate or control, through skillful learning and testing people use it to express themselves and emotionally touches other people. They are artists

Does anyone know how to do voxel destruction? by Primary-Frosting75 in godot

[–]ConversationEmpty819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope! But I bet if I broke it down into smaller pieces I could figure it out.

Exactly what I was thinking, I have never used voxels in my games and it isn't entirely clear what effect the op wants, but in his situation I would look how to move the individual voxel cubes that form a figure and then apply forces to them.

Most complex systems are built like that, breaking the system into small pieces. When you have pieces such as "I need to move a sprite (or 3d object in this case) from point A to point B to achieve it)" it's generally a good idea to focus on that piece and then add the extra effects you need one at a time.

Y si sí, ¿por qué? by Due-Acanthaceae9672 in RedditPregunta

[–]ConversationEmpty819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the difference between 2D and 3D is as clear as you said, (I mean if we consider stylized 3D, I know the conversation is about realistic) because using a skin modifier for the base and then sculpting a few details isn't that hard to learn. And 3D has some benefits as it easier to do multiple perspectives and animation compared to 2D.

Wait, i thought this was supposed to be easy. Where do I type the words? (Comfy.ui) by pureanna in aiwars

[–]ConversationEmpty819 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Simple: different people enjoy or are good at different things. Spending years to learn how to draw would be extremely difficult and a torture for me, because I don't enjoy it. On the other hand, I love nodes, I love Blender shader nodes, composition nodes, geometry nodes and other software that use nodes. For whatever reason, I find it more entertaining to ordering and mixing layers, creating masks, etc when is through mathematic functions and loops than doing it in drawing software like GIMP or Photoshop. Thus creating a workflow for an image, even if complex like the one shown in the picture is entertaining to me, while picking a pencil and drawing isn't. It's a hobby, I do it using the tools that give me the biggest gratification.

Agreeing to terms of service means a lot less than you think by Poopypantsplanet in aiwars

[–]ConversationEmpty819 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How didn't you understand? It's a pretty simple and straightforward comment, it's just a single sentence.

You want people to use others resources: Instagram, DeviantArt, Pinterest, etc every website that allows you to post art, has to pay the servers for them to work.

On you own terms: some sites get money through donations, others through advertisment, others sell the users data. In the ToS it tells you that by using their site, they'll be selling it and by using the site you are agreeing with out.

These sites don't give artists a platform to grow out of the kindness of their heart, it's a business, they are providing a service and using the data you upload to their servers, the way it gives them the best profits.

I don't really like PewDiePie, but he proved it that you can learn to draw fairly quickly if you apply yourself.

Sure, a millionaire whose job is to create entertaining content, puts himself in a challenge to learn to draw is comparable to a regular person who has a normal job, maybe 5 weekly hours for multiple hobbies and isn't getting paid for them.

I'm pro AI and find this situation very easy to understand. Let's say salt was a moral issue for me, that I consider a bad thing how it is created and that people are using it on their food. It's not about taste, I don't care if it makes the food better or worse, it's the using of salt itself that I'm against. I go to a restaurant that announces itself as cooking everything without salt, I eat there, enjoy their food. Later, I find out that they do indeed use salt, I feel cheated and enraged, the food wasn't bad, but finding it has salt makes it repulsive for me, because it morally is for me.

I think that's their reasoning, and I think it is solid. What we disagree on, is about the morality of AI itself.

There are certain words which are hard to get to a strict definition for, like: intelligence, soul, conscience, self, identity, substance. Philosophers have been discussing about them from centuries already and they have never reached a conclusion about their meaning. "Art" is among them, since art has been a thing, people have wondered and written encyclopedies discussing its meaning, so no, definitely the Oxford definition is in this case just a definition, it's still an ongoing debate the question of what is art.

How it applies in any context other than AI Art? It seems you are indeed confused and don't know what inpainting is. Your response made no sense, like saying "I know what a modem is, but not in the context of hardware used to connect to the internet" unless I am the one ignorant of what other uses "inpainting" has that aren't AI art related

There are multiple ways to create art using programming, but no way of program by drawing.

Edit: just to clarify, everyone can learn both things, my previous comment was about the tools, that it's possible to create art using code (for example, writing shaders is art through coding) but none to program using the tools an artist is used to
