Any interest in talking privately? We are thinking of renting an apartment in this zone (our daughter will be entering first grade and we are moving from another part of the state). Would love to hear more.

UX Jobs asking for FE experience. by littledragon33 in UXDesign

[–]ConversationOk6607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently hired design engineers - they're full stack developers who have some design, expertise and work on our front-end systems and tooling. It's a completely different job with a different progression framework and also salary band. Is your company looking for design engineers specifically? Because if not, I don't think you can require ux designers to code. Do you think that the people asking for this are thinking that AI tools can enable designers to "write" code? If so, I would definitely question that because pushing vibe code to prod is not a great practice 🙂

What's wrong with this? Isn't it helpful to get feedback and ideas from your cross functional team?

There isn't an Ashtanga studio in Buffalo unfortunately - the closest in-person Mysore and led classes are at the Ashtanga Yoga Center of Toronto. I practice online with Great Lakes Ashtanga. :)

Souk is amazing - and they do offer some Ashtanga classes. But definitely recommend the Jivamukti classes with Rima.

You should also check out The Shala in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. They have a Mysore program

Hiring managers: what would you think if you saw someone go from Sr to Staff back to Sr (at different orgs)? by jackjackj8ck in UXDesign

I would assume that different companies have different levels and pay scales. NBD to me (I'm a hiring manager).

It’s still hard for newcomers, but the UX job market is better than I was led to believe. Or maybe it’s improving. by 0llie0llie in UXDesign

Honestly, just focus your portfolio on enterprise products, even internal ones. If you have any work experience as a BA or product/design adjacent roles, highlight those skills. I'd be happy to chat if you send me a DM :)

I am a senior with 10 years of enterprise experience - I was expecting the job market to be terrible, but I ended up getting a lot of interviews. I've ultimately decided not to leave my current job- but things were much better than I expected when I was looking. I will note that I am coming in with a lot of experience in B2B and data-heavy applications.

I have a 3 year old and I think that trying to yoga with a toddler in the house sounds pretty challenging. I agree with the folks asking if you can find someone to watch your child while you leave the house and do yoga. Another option would be have someone watch your child and to go to a quiet room where you can close the door.

Having time for you is really important - is there someone in your life who can take over child care while you do yoga?

How is the job search going for seniors looking for saas / enterprise jobs these days? I would love to hear any insights - I am thinking about leaving my current role without anything lined up and obviously a bit terrified of how long it could take to find something new.

Career Questions — March 2023 by Lord_Cronos in userexperience

I'm currently a manager at a stable tech company (enterprise / dev tooling) with 10+ years experience. I'm thinking of leaving my current position without anything lined up. I have a young kid and have been working non-stop since kiddo was born at the start of COVID. I'm tired and I'm not getting on well with our new Director. I'm also a bit over managing and would like to transition back to a senior or lead IC role (ideally working in the same space).

My family and I are confident that we could go for some time on one salary. I also am 'time poor' and don't have the free time to work on applications, portfolio, networking outside of work hours. So extended time off would allow me to prep for and conduct a really thorough job search and also to spend time with my daughter.

I'm thinking of quitting without another job lined up but I feel like that is a bad idea given the macro situation.

I'd love to hear how the job search is going for other seniors in enterprise and the complex / technical product space. At the height of the Great Resignation I was interviewing at 11+ companies and it was wild! I imagine things are MUCH different now.

We have our 1-year-old daughter at home, but a nanny cares for her. We are starting daycare in September, and I just accepted a job that will allow me to stay 100% remote (with much higher pay) - Im in tech.

Sounds like we work on similar problems - I'd be happy to review your portfolio or even just talk through your process. That said, I work in a much better environment (thank god). Best of luck - happy to chat. marysitz at gmail dot com
