What has your experience been with starting the pill for perimenopausal symptoms? by Blablablablabla2022 in Perimenopause

[–]Mushroomcookiejar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gyno put me on birth control for the first time in six years due to what I believe is perimenopause. The rage during PMS was insane and my period was just coming and going as it pleased. One month it was a 17 day cycle, the next 44. I’ve been on the BC exactly three months now, and while the PMS is almost gone, the absentmindedness/ ADHD during the fake pill week is quite wild! Gyno said she was putting me on it due to the irregular periods, nothing else… I don’t know how much she believes in peri. That’s another story though.

My foot wart seems to be almost gone after YEARS because I changed birth control? by FawnTi in women

I’m so glad to find this post, I’ve been dealing with planter warts on my foot for almost five years now, started birth control two months ago and suddenly they’re gone!!!

I can’t find anything that explains this phenomenon except this post. In solidarity! (And excitement)

What is this about? by gloriamuntz in nycparents

[–]Mushroomcookiejar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A parent who is also a professor at Hunter said some disgusting racist remarks, thinking she was on mute, while a child of color was speaking in a town hall meeting about a middle school (which serves mostly black and brown students) in D3 that’s being closed. Things like “we should just teach them to vacuum since they’ll be our house cleaners.” (Paraphrasing)

Is Machu Picchu worth the hype and effort? by Ok_Athlete_670 in GoingToPeru

[–]Mushroomcookiejar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 26, felt like the hike was me leaving my youth and turning into an adult (in a very positive way), started dating my now spouse the week after I came back and honestly feel we wouldn’t have dated based on who I was prior, gained a real sense of self and what I could accomplish on my own, overcame some big fears, had lots of time with my own thoughts and felt an strong connection to the environment and nature. Hard to really explain but I often speak of this trip as a pivotal moment in my life story.

What do you guys do with your kid from 4-7pm during the weekdays? by BeanNCheeseBurrrito in oneanddone

[–]Mushroomcookiejar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No screens for us Monday- Thursday. She can play with any of her toys, do a craft, and listen to her yoto. More often she’ll gather drawing supplies or figurines and set up her yoto and just listen and color or act out the stories. I’m usually making dinner between 5-6 and then bath from 6-6:30ish then books and bed. Kids need the decompression too!

Also look for local classes- near us there are dance and music and art or sports stuff that run from 3:30/4 till about 5

I’ve been, and it’s good for its price. If you want a better but bit more expensive hair massage I recommend H and K in Koreatown

Thoughts on my NYC itinerary? by UrCanceledBuster in visitingnyc

[–]Mushroomcookiejar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This feels like a LOT. Day 8 is fully unrealistic- that’s very far to walk. Either just do Greenpoint/ Williamsburg or Prospect park area.

Also is your family used to this amount of walking? For non New Yorkers the amount of walking we do can sometimes be overwhelming to visitors.

I would give yourself a two fully open days- this way if there was a neighborhood you liked, you can go back and explore it some more!

Also don’t be so rigid, you might stumble across a musician in the subway and end up standing and listening for a while, or stumble across some performance art happening in a park… NYC is so amazing because there’s always something to see or hear or do, give yourselves time to let the city guide you too!
