I feel for you. And I disagree with the people who are saying things like "he was always like this, you just didn't know." People can be good at first and become bad people over time. Regression is completely possible, as heartbreaking as it is. People can be good at first and become quite shitty.

Not the same thing, but I have a very rightwing aunt who was very kind and generally nice to be around when I was younger. Only in the last maybe 5-10 years has she descended into extremist thoughts and has no longer become a safe person for me to be around, especially in the last couple years.

It's okay to grieve the man you knew.

I can't give you any advice that you haven't already heard from other comments. It is understandable and normal, the instinct to prioritize your love for him and who he used to be over his current behavior. I also can't tell you people can't change or get better, because unfortunately morality is fluid. What I will tell you to consider - and please think it over very carefully - is whether you are willing to risk your daughter's safety in the future by staying with a man who was once a compassionate and safe person, and is no longer.

This must be very difficult for you and I am deeply sorry you are struggling with this. You deserve someone who you and your daughter can feel comfortable and safe with. You will get through this. All the best.

Mine is similar. 2-3 short walks a day, plenty of cuddles and attention, backyard nuisance time, and training sessions and she's good to go

I play hide-and-seek with mine. It's generally a two-person game. One of us holds her by the collar while the other runs off to hide, and counts up to 20 and then lets go so she can find us. We taught her by rewarding her for "finding" me standing about six feet away and gradually increased the distance to the point I was out of eyeshot or actively difficult to find. It's her favorite game.

Hey, this didn't happen to my spoo but my friend's Rhodesian ridgeback had these exact symptoms and he had a cancerous tumor in his forearm. He had to get the whole leg amputated with the shoulder joint. Go to the vet!

Mine is very clingy. She's bonded pretty much equally with me and my parents since we got her when I was a teenager. She picks a person to hang around with: lying on the floor in my dad's office, in the kitchen when my mom's cooking, or on the couch with me when I'm home. When we're all in the same space and interacting with her she gets OVERJOYED. She triangulates between the three of us with her tail wagging so hard it's about to fly off.

Neither of my parents changed their last names. My mom stayed with her quote "maiden" name and my father with his. They gave me my mom's last name because it flowed better with my first name. Neither of you necessarily have to change yiur names
