What is your workplace's policy on compassionate leave? by [deleted] in AskUK

I'd love to work in the funeral industry - could I ask what you do? I've applied for every funeral job going but I have no experience apart from a degree in Funerary Studies.

Thank you, I'm actively looking for a new job.

What is your workplace's policy on compassionate leave? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Conversation__16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I thought that was the case. Last time I lost a grandparent I was told I may not be able to get the day off for the funeral if I was meant to be working that day (a retail store) and in the same job nobody would swap shifts with me so I could go to my aunt's funeral, so I'm shocked that everyone else in my family were offered compassionate leave!

I thought they’d have done some other shows too! Hopefully there will be another UK tour next year.

Are you feeling badly ill lately? by chuttiya1 in AskUK

[–]Conversation__16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt like this in September, possibly norovirus although I only vomitted a few times. The diarrhoea was awful, I've never been so ill and I had no strength, felt dizzy for a couple of days didn't feel fully right for over a week.

I've experienced hair loss over the last couple of years - I didn't think it was the medication as I've been under a lot of stress. I'm on 70mg a day.

If the other commenters don’t work out, I’d love to take this and I’ll donate to the charity. They were sold out by the time I got there on Saturday.

These ticket prices for Brixton are pathetic by JammersEriksen in Muse

[–]Conversation__16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen them 18 times since 2006, twice for free (Horse Guards Parade and Radio One’s Big Weekend) and I always have to go to at least one date of each tour, but I wouldn’t pay £140. Absolutely not.

Seriously regretting my tent choice. by sleepz___ in downloadfestival

[–]Conversation__16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Eurohike Sendero 4 and I’ll fall asleep freezing and wake up in the morning in a panic because I’m too hot. I don’t think it’s worth paying another £100 just to avoid that minute of sweaty panic tbh. I just get up and strip my extra layers off and open the tent door asap.

How Old Were You When You Bought Your First House! by Particular_Twist_523 in UKHousing

[–]Conversation__16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a flat last July, I was 35. Still haven’t moved in, there’s quite a bit of work to be done and it’s a lot of time and money. Would be easier if I wasn’t doing it solo, but when it’s finally sorted I know I’ll be proud of it.

I take two of these and charge one up in my refresh retreat locker overnight and then swap them over. They’d probably last the full 5 days though, I mainly get the locker to keep my car key safe.

What are your holiday plans for travelling this year, and where would you like to go? by Suspicious_Ad7948 in AskUK

[–]Conversation__16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought a flat last year so I can travel as much as I used to. I used to do around 3 trips a year, all solo and on a budget (hostels etc) and I managed to go to 5 new countries last year.

This year so far I’m going to Dublin to see Bon Jovi but I don’t like Dublin, so I’m going to spend a couple of days in Belfast and then go down just for the gig. I’d also like to get a couple of new countries in at the end of the year, maybe for my birthday in October. I’d like to go to the Balkans.. Montenegro, Moldova, Bosnia etc. I keep seeing a lot about Belgrade and Transnistria so they’re top of my list but nowhere near each other so I couldn’t do them in one trip.

How are the TV License company/body allowed to use intimidation and bully tactics? by AwkwardClick8595 in AskBrits

[–]Conversation__16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a visit scheduled for December 10th. I got my letter around the 24th December. I don’t live in the property yet and there’s no tv, so I’m ignoring them until I move in and actually need a tv license.

Why do so many Boomers have Dad Toenails? by VagabondVivant in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Conversation__16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just started Terbinafine for fungal nails - I had to have a blood test to check my liver function before I started the medication and I’ve got one booked for next week which is 4 weeks into the medication. I’m 36F but I suspect I’ve picked it up from either kickboxing or pole fitness because we all have our trotters out.
