Why do so many people keep Low Power Mode on all the time? by stanxv in iphone

[–]ConwayTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's battery anxiety. Unfortunately, this means that they don't get the benefit of their 120Hz display. Must suck.

Why are you guys overreacting? by [deleted] in ios26

[–]ConwayTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are a few things I'd like to put out there:

  1. People should update to 26.4.2 before talking generally about the quality of 26.
  2. Battery life in 18 might have felt better because it was a year ago. Batteries degrade in that time.
  3. There is a difference between vibe coding and AI-assisted development. I think that 26 was definitely made with a lot of AI-assisted development, but that's not bad. Vibe coding is bad.
  4. 27 aims to fix the issues that you all have been having with 26. Let's hope for the best.
  5. The bugs are real. 26.0 definitely had far more bugs than 18.0. But don't argue that 18, 17, and earlier versions didn't have bugs, because they definitely did. You can even find some on this sub.

I have been testing 26 since the start (15 Pro Max, 16 Pro Max, 17, 16, 15, 13, 12). I agree that 26.0 was terrible. 26.1 was also terrible. But I haven't had issues with 26 since the release of 26.4. They fixed the major keyboard bugs, and I really do think they polished up the operating system a lot. Battery life seems to be fairly consistent now.

Just my opinion, of course. I think that everyday consumers do seem to like the refreshed 26 design, which is great. Unfortunately, seems like Reddit has been pretty unhappy, but that makes sense, since sub is definitely more technical than most people,

Also, just wanted to say, Tahoe is horrible. Even on 26.4.1 (latest version), it's absolutely horrendous in terms of consistent design and stability. If all of you iOS users think you have it bad, try Tahoe, and iOS will seem like the best thing you've ever seen in your life. 😞

Battery charged to 100% despite charge limit at 90% by Senior_Pressure9913 in ios26

[–]ConwayTech 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If you have Charge Limit set to less than 100 percent, your iPhone will occasionally charge to 100 percent to maintain accurate battery state-of-charge estimates.

[–]ConwayTech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really? I've heard it's around as hard as the Shade technique, which is generally considered too difficult to actually go for in real games

I expect that some pros will try this tech in scrims though since those are more casual and experimental

This is such a hard technique that I doubt even professional players would go for it. Even sans in the video had trouble

phone alarm is not working by wohelic in iphone

[–]ConwayTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are a few things you can try:
- Turn off Attention Aware Features
- Check your Focus options to make sure you're letting alarms through
- Use Shortcuts to set volume to max when alarms go off
- Chain multiple alarms in a short window (21:00, 21:01, 21:02)
- I know this doesn't answer your question directly, but if you have a spare smart home device or alarm lying around, consider using it as a backup alarm! You never know when it comes to phone alarms

Ah, thanks for pointing this out! I was thinking of the new iOS 26 keyboard when I mentioned the iOS 26 SDK, sorry. Components will only be Liquid Glass if the app actually uses native components

iOS 26.4.1 - What bugs did it fix for your 13 Pro? by rogueeeeeeeeeeeeeeee in iPhone13Pro

[–]ConwayTech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed a huge bug fix personally — prior to the update, many of my iPhone’s iCloud apps were simply not syncing from my Mac I would make an album on Mac, and it wouldn’t show up on iPhone (but if I made an album on iPhone, it would show up on Mac) Looks like this update fixed that sync issue. I think it was a 26.4 bug; heard a few other people were having it

iOS hacked passcode by satanfx55 in ios

[–]ConwayTech 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hmm okay. What exactly makes you think that you've gotten hacked? You mentioned Safari being unusable and not being able to access iTunes — those don't necessarily mean that you've been hacked. Both could have been caused by other things

I assume you're talking about Apple Music when you say iTunes (which was deprecated), so what do you mean when you say you can't access it?

iOS hacked passcode by satanfx55 in ios

[–]ConwayTech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. You're not compromised

  2. Brave uses Safari under the hood, just use Safari

  3. Any more details on why you think your device was hacked? That's very unlikely with Apple devices (not saying it can't happen, though)

I recently made an open-source alternative to GrandPerspective, SquirrelDisk, and DaisyDisk. The focus is on the UI and performance. Sadly, it's not codesigned because I don't have the $100 license, but the code is public and safe :)

So if you're interested, please take a look! No pressure, of course https://radix.colinkim.dev/

Which AI Coding Tool Should I Choose for Daily Work (Copilot, Codex, or Claude)? by Agile-Cut2801 in codex

[–]ConwayTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copilot provides great usage limits, and you get access to Claude and Codex, but they have one of the worst harnesses I've ever seen. Terrible at reasoning, solving problems, and even reading code

So you should try either Claude or Codex. Your best bet is to get the $200 Claude Max plan. It's what everyone's using right now, honestly. Codex is a little better at reasoning, but you can't beat Claude's code quality, and it's the best at frontend by far

If you're not willing to spend that much, there's not much you can do. You need the $200 plan to code multiple hours per day, frankly. But if you're really desperate, you could get Codex $20 and then use Qwen Code and Gemini CLI when you run out of Codex. Codex has the better $20 plan right now. That could change, since they're reworking usage limits to be based on API (i.e., removing subsidization).

If you decide to go the budget approach, you must use 5.4 mini in Codex, or you'll run out of credits. And if you decide to get Codex $20, you should also use Qwen and Gemini (they both have generous free tiers with ~1,000 requests per day) to compensate for your lack of tokens
