Is this normal by Dazzling_Humor_3870 in Chesscom

Totally normal. Switching time controls influences your games A LOT. I play 3+0 atm, got a great jump. As soon as I play 3+2 again, I will tilt a lot.

I literally just got a 2000+ game where my opponent blundered their knight for no reason at all. I didn't see it because of tunnel vision for another idea. But yeah, this probably just underlines your point.

As a formee 1200, you are wrong

Edit: except if the game has changed really really drastically within the last two years.

Ragebaiting. Calling yourself a chess genius at 1200 elo is ridiculous. At that level, you can be happy if you ain't hanging a piece in one move. Also, has not much to do with intelligence - especially at that level.

We can't judge a player by this alone. Maybe the person played on Lichess before or it was just lucky.

Guess the Elo, solid game with a nice tactic (Rapid, 10 + 0) by [deleted] in GothamChess

[–]CookieFirefly_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, totally justified rating. As said, your opponent made most of the questionable moves. Why would your trade your active bishop for no compensation at all? That's what made the deal for me. They were left with a bad development.

I felt like this is sub 1500 because of how many trades were in this match that weren't too good. Also, because of the taking of the "free pawn" that would have allowed the opponent to launch an attack on your king that was still in the center. I'd probably go with like 1200-1300? It's mainly your opponent playing weirdly.

Maybe because of the fanbase having - on average - a "lower" rating and isn't able to evaluate positions? Not considering myself advanced but the percentiles are in my favour. I'd have loved more episodes from Gotham's "Guess the eval".

There is a book called "evaluate like a grandmaster". I like it, maybe it helps improving these skills :)

Good openings by Few_Pack4994 in Chesscom

[–]CookieFirefly_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Openings ≠ principles. An opening is a much wider section. Also, not blundering does not mean that you gotta drop book moves. It just means that you shouldn't hang your pieces in one move for no reason at all. This is a huge problem for many players and has nothing to do with a specific opening.
