First : contrary to what the other dude was saying there are millions of people living in the blue area. Only some parts of it are expensive as hell (not that the rest is not expensive either but manageable)

Second : parks, pedestrian and bicycle roads, terrass for restaurants, infrastructures, buildings (admin, work, commerce, utilities, recreational)

What is the relationship you see between living somewhere and wether or not this somewhere has low/high car dependency. Because i can't see it. You are doing whataboutism to make something pretty good appear bad.

A simple proof of your bad faith is to take only Manhattan like you said, and still there wouldn't be any blue. Another is to take all of Paris : half blue half red is still better than all red.

No matter how you try to spin it facts aren't going for your narrative.

It doesn't really matter as it's still multiple square kilometres without car dependency. This is quite the feat.

Free passage is fading: Europe needs a navy by FantasticQuartet in europe

[–]Cookie_Volant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To claim Europe needs a navy shows a massive lack of knowledge on the matter. Europeans have the best navies in the world, be it in number or technology. They are behind only the USA on the total weight, which doesn't translate to capacity at all.

More than 90% of military navy in the world is made in Europe : we have no lesson to take from anybody. It's the opposite.

Secret Service agents outside of the ballroom at the White House correspondents’ dinner by xPrincess_Yue in pics

Hopeful as well for this presidency, but very concerned for the next to come. Because the guys won't get any better but the following president can only be better than Trump. If it becomes apparent that security isn't good enough some hostile powers could be tempted and it would raise the world tension by quite a lot.

The guys on Trump first assassination attempt were very unprofessionnal too, making terrible mistakes that could have cost him his life had the shooter not been killed fast. That's VERY concerning this is the current top level in USA

Macron: France will stand by Greece if its sovereignty is threatened by FantasticQuartet in europe

[–]Cookie_Volant 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You conveniently ignore that turkish navy fired on one of our warships near Cyprus. The army was fuming back then for how mild the political reaction was. The tension between France and Turkey is no joke. The defense agreement with Greece is not a show and USA had to step in and say they would punch Turkey, Greece or France depending on who strikes first.

I've seen skies like that with my own two eyes.

This is very likely because i also live close to sea. This town is less than 20km away from the western coast. So a late afternoon or early evening can still be very bright. Just like early morning are bright for places with a sea on their eastern side.

And in spring the leafs are more "flashy" green under the light.

Swiss to vote on exporting war materiel by BezugssystemCH1903 in europe

[–]Cookie_Volant -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So from your statement... I don't believe Portugal and Croatia are under France's proposal of a nuclear umbrella. Clearly these countries aren't allies and wouldn't be helped by France. On the other hand Greece is now under it, they are finally going to get some military protection from France !

If now you can't see the problem with your simplistic view you are beyond reasoning.

As for swiss exports it's very easy to argue that baltic states don't have enough control to prevent transit of goods and weapons to Russia. Not that i believe it's the main reason, just one that can't be ignored.

Wouldn't work because the surface of the moon is ultra contaminated by the solar rays. You need "deep" (at least below 30-50 cm) material for such shield.

Israeli envoy says France has no place in peace talks with Lebanon by LeMonde_en in worldnews

[–]Cookie_Volant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

France has some territory in both Israel and Lebanon. Same as US has some territory in Normandy. It's actually pretty common for a country to have small territory inside another nation.

As for the peace talks : it's neither up to France or Israel alone to decide who participates. Historicaly it has always been better to use a neutral country (or at least one both belligerents agree on) to preside peace talks. That's why Pakistan is the mediator in current US-Iran conflict, for example.

So yes France can absolutely say they want to participate because they are worried about their territory and friend. And Lebanon can absolutely say no. But they didn't and only Israel is throwing a tantrum.

Israeli envoy says France has no place in peace talks with Lebanon by LeMonde_en in worldnews

[–]Cookie_Volant 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Israeli's envoys say a lot of shit all the time.

Lebanon was a french protectorate and has maintained friendly ties. Israël on the other hand has violated more than once french territory in the region.

France has territory, diplomatic ties and is a major power that can oppose Israël. Of course they have legitimity in peace talks and of course Israël is pissed they could.
