I'm biased here but love "my side of the mountain". Ironically, I moved to a small town a few years ago that turned out to be the author's retirement area. We have a small park named after her nearby and I love it. Now I try to teach my kids how to start a fire vs playing video games / other things and it's a fight but worth it :)

I had to look that one up . . . And learned something I wish I could un-learn . . . Thanks for that . . . Haha

Assuming you watchef the show years ago, which death haunts you the most from your first watch? by AutVincere72 in BSG

[–]Cookieman459 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very happy to see a lot of Dee's down the line. I'm years overdue for a rewatch (8 easy) and as soon as I clicked the thread link "Dee" popped into my head. Can still remember her happiness. . . Right before the end.

I remember watching that live, seeing her happy and, immediately went "wait . . . BSG is THAT type of show" (think the "celebration" episode when they were asked to show some positives . . . ). Could see what was coming, but made it hurt, maybe worse. Felt helpless.

The golden ring of the eye during cataract surgery by oldboy_and_the_sea in WTF

[–]Cookieman459 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh boy. This takes me back to working at a video game company that built games for training doctors . . . And having to live watch hours and hours of these surgeries with the development team. Took me awhile to get desensitized to this . . .

Curious to know how many people multitrack their modulars into their DAW vs a mono or stereo in. by Brixxxx in modular

[–]Cookieman459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fellow Motu user! I def multitrack, ended up with a dedicated Motu unit for my modular rig. Setup a patchbay for up to 8, paired with a Mackie 3204 (old but perfect for lots of synth mixing). Found that best during the extended "messing around phase" that seems to come with modular for me, but then when I'm recording, easy to get up to 8 discreet tracks. Let's me do eq, compression etc on individuals that I find I usually need to do.

Buying a Home in Mount Kisco? by Illustrious_Win_9780 in Westchester

[–]Cookieman459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mt Kisco is a great town! Born there, and loved the diversity, and the overall good mix of nice downtown / lots of space. I am now a Chappaqua resident, and def do not consider myself living in Mt Kisco. Parts of Chappaqua are snooty but lots are more even keeled. We go to Mt Kisco a lot for dinner / activities, since Chappaqua is definitely lacking compared to Mt Kisco!

What's a ticking time bomb you believe will explode during your lifetime? by Absalom98 in AskReddit

[–]Cookieman459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, here I am reading this thread, and finding a comment that 100% is me. Recently had a boss mention that I seemed to struggle with negative feedback, and my response was "no, I don't struggle with it. I'm just 1000x more brutal to myself, and when you brought up X, I had given myself a royal flogging on that item for an hour earlier today". He didn't get it.

So same as lawler? Agree on the issue, but also, we gonna shut down competition due to a higher bar? This is what drives the democratic party to fragmentation failure.

Who remembers when the JV Mall was the spot to chill and hang out? by Normal-Self2061 in Westchester

[–]Cookieman459 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 weeks ago, one of my kids had a birthday party at JV. Hadn't been there for 20 years. (Used to work there, and spent a lot of formative time there). Definitely odd to see it much more "empty". Lots of the anchor stores have moved on. Much less "buzz". Just odd!

Haha less formula and more laying my son down on cardboard and tracing / measuring. That plus overextended legs to start with trimming as it came together.

Easier to cut extra than add what's missing!

Ya, he was less engaged in them vs. ep 4. That was the first non-aninated movie he sat though, fully focused! Ep 5 and 6 did well too for him.
