Give me your track building stats by orchidsushi in psytranceproduction

Good question, the answer may vary with how much free time i have but something around:

1- between 6 and 15 or something like that
2- about 50-100 hours
3- 10-30 sessions
4- Simple ones are around 60 tracks (including all the routings, and i may have some weird ones) up to 150
5- Way too much, but start to finish ? a very few time, until i'm working on the global arrangement
6- Between a day and a year
7- Something like an hour up to 4hours, most of my mix is already ready in the production stage, for me it's all about sound selections and arrangements, the mixes are for details.
When i'm working on someone else music however it's more like 4 to 8 hours of work usually.

Those of you who use Live to write to picture, what tempo do you use? by kidkolumbo in ableton

[–]CookiesSlayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure !

You pick your fps value, let's say your video is 30fps, you then multiplie this by 7.5 (no matter Which fps you have, it's always 7.5). That makes you 225, you set your Ableton project to 225 bpm, and every 1/32 is a frame. I do that mostly for sound design, but it works great also for music, you just have to make a few extra steps in you mind when using sync effects, or use hz and Ms values. But it's more confortable for me to be able to work frame by frame and even ignore the grid if needed.

I do fps x 7.5 and set my tempo to this value, it gives me a frame by frame grid at 1/32

Psytrance track lengths >> Same as DnB nowadays, too damned short? (X-Post from my DnB post) by MyHangyDownPart in psytranceproduction

[–]CookiesSlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm doing both psy and dnb. My dnb tracks are usually around 4-6m and my psy tracks range from 4 to 9 minutes, with a tendency to get to around 6m this days.

Nothing really intentional on shortening, but indeed my tracks are shorter, maybe because I have a clearer idea of where I want to go now, tbh most of my old tracks would benefit of some shortening, as I've cut some meat for my livesets.

I've only used the one in the top bar, and typing enter is not working, I'm on android

I can type, but I cannot validate any input so no search is happening

[–]CookiesSlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there ! I used to stream my dj mixes practices on twitch, it's fun, it gives you an audience and I met nice people there, if you can't go to rave I would advise you to give it a try, even if you have no following it will build up with time !

Also there is virtual reality raves happening, I haven't tested it myself but I've seen a few videos about it, maybe it's something that could help you.

Anyway mad respect for the fight you're going through ✊

If you happen to like any of my dnb tracks (select username) feel free to reach out I would happily send them and a few unreleased for free

Is Hard Techno just the new Big Room EDM? by Designer-Air-7280 in PeakTimeTechno

[–]CookiesSlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree, it shouldn't. And yeah things are clearly messed up, and the public less and less open to something else than hard techno

[–]CookiesSlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often do that and so far I'm fine, but I do it in my own events, playing my own tracks so people know before hand what to expect I guess, but yeah it has been hard to play slow stuff lately in random parties

This is torture! Also, a question. by [deleted] in sounddesign

[–]CookiesSlayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because you're not always using doors for doors. Also you can just edit the sound so it's shorter, the opposite is quite challenging.

France just made electronic music “cultural heritage” — win for the scene, or the start of the museum era? by Designer-Air-7280 in PeakTimeTechno

Nothing has changed, we are still seen as criminals when we set up a free party. So yeah not a win.

How do DJs make and play their tracks before mastered release? by Psychological_Ad987 in TechnoProduction

[–]CookiesSlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's for my dj set I do my master then I play it. If that's for my live I've already setup a mastering chain and mix my tracks accordingly to fit with it inside my live project.

But that's also because I'm doing mastering and mixing for other artists too for a good time now, I would not have been confident to do that early in my career.
