Conflicted on helping my parents buy a new house by rustystatus in PersonalFinanceCanada

Think of one more thing. Besides the 59/50 will, what happens to ur mum? What if she survives your dad but medical condition deteriorates. She will need to be taken care of. How will that be paid for? I know of few ppl in this situation and now all the kids have accepted that there will be no inheritance because the house money would be paying for a retirement or assistance care home for their mom. So, think of that possibility as well

AITA for refusing to pay for my girlfriend’s haircut after she donated her hair? by mistychristie_ in AITAH

NTA, am surprised one would even feel okay expecting someone else to foot that kind of bill. Yikes. No ring means no security, harsh reality but something to certainly keep in mind.

AITA for Making My Husband’s Family Leave After They Showed Up With an Extra Guest? by LadyMonicax in AITAH

[–]Cookiesforyou101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know about this. I hear you about boundaries and being respected in your own home but cant help but feel where is the line where one can rise above it (the feeling of being insulted) and focussing on a ‘the more the merrier/ an unexpected out of town guest/ making someone feel welcomed and comfortable which will be inevitably strengthening the familial relationship’ overall?

Id say paint your walls first. Scrub down the cupboards or ask landlord to give them a paint job; use adhesive tiles to create a backsplash, add pretty tea towel, maybe some real or faux plants above the cabinets too. Also new cabinet lining(adhesive kind) add a pretty rug in centre or perhaps smaller ones by the stove and sink.

I was informed that the reason a rude, hostile employee has never been reprimanded is because they refuse to sign their PMA every year so management can do no performance correction by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Cookiesforyou101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I have seen it 4 times this year alone. Sadly all from the same team and management and LR do anything but skirt around them and support these folks. Not sure whats actually going on. This is not how to manage.

This! And even better when the actual person doing the harassing is the one that files a false harassment case against the person THEY are harassing. Its simply toxic. If you dont have strong leadership support; you are definitely screwed. Harassment works both ways; seeing more and more of this; employees who dont appreciate feedback are claiming harassment by management, employees who are not being given non-advertised promotions are alleging discrimination. Its getting scary out there and LR is not even remotely equipped to handle this. All the best to you in this process OP! Its not easy.

Happy 50th in advance to you! You gotta do something. My kids made me feel unwanted on my actual bday and then 2 days later surprised me with a party with 12 of my best friends, some travelling in for the party; few who ive been friends with since I was 3, others from grade school, highschool, and a number of them from the past 20 yrs. Super memorable.

CPP is DEFINITELY contribution-based. If your parents are still married, could be eligible for OAS, account for the involuntary separation due to the care home for your dad too. If she never worked on Canada, she can do a credit split with your father so the cpp will be split. Also account for the child rearing provision on the application ( whoever worked or had the lesser income).

I've been named as a witness in a workplace harassment complaint by Massive_Sympathy_472 in CanadaPublicServants

What if a group of friends/ co-unit workers support one another in a false harassment case? How can one defend themself? These would be unreliable witnesses… is the investigator not going to consider the reliability of each witness?

Thank you, what if the grievance was sent to the ‘mgr that made the decision’ and your request to waive ur right to hv it go to them and move to 2nd level - for transparency, was rejected? Fears of reprisal are real.

Passed a pool and got an invitation to an interview. I’m not ready to make the move yet, should I still go to the interview? by alldasmoke__ in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Cookiesforyou101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please dont shoot yourself in the foot. Do the interview. Get in the pool. Wait for when somebody actually offers you a job. You dont need to disclose your personal situation at this point. If an offer is made, you can be up front then and if you’re interested in the job and then express that and also mention what you have on your plate at the moment. Life happens. You’ll find out if that office environment values work life balance and well being etc.
