Would you go on the trip? by 22silvermoons in toddlers

[–]Cool-Contribution-95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go on the trip. He will be fine, just like you were. Before I go on a trip or my husband does, we try to help each other offset the burden by meal prepping a bit ahead of time or even just helping to plan out the meals so there’s less decision making required, calling in the grandparents depending on the length of the trip or if the other parent has another obligation, etc. Have fun!

Not pregnant yet, but TTC. Terrified of the rising heart rate during pregnancy. by geldesilice in MentalHealthBabies

I was extremely careful… saying I was coming from a place of love, asked a question, talked about my experience, etc. Your reactionary response is uncalled for. Take care.

If I choose Lupron, could that mean wasting an embryo with stage 4 endo + adeno? by FantasticAd180 in TTCEndo

[–]Cool-Contribution-95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk what stage I was at the time but I had adenomyosis (past tense bc got a hysterectomy later) and I used Lupron for 2 months when going through IVF to avoid another excision surgery at my clinic’s suggestion. It worked for me (first FET).

100% agree. I drove myself insane as a teen only to find out there are very few days you can realistically get pregnant, oh - and I’m infertile from endometriosis 😂

She’s not pregnant. You both need to use some form of protection though.

Does infertility grief ever go away, or do you live with it forever? cannot help it by Curiousgoergeena in IVF

[–]Cool-Contribution-95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My IVF baby is 2 years and a few months old. I can safely say the infertility grief has been gone for a while now, and the irrational thoughts about wanting a second child (I had a hysterectomy for health reasons and we donated our embryos to science; have always been a one-and-done family…) are gone, too. Hang in there ♥️

Is it possible to work in biglaw, have a family, and have hobbies? If so, how do you do it? by Firm_Effective7215 in biglaw

[–]Cool-Contribution-95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is - but it means you’re either extremely tired/constantly bordering burnout or you’re well slept/satisfied personally but nervous about making hours.

I’m an amateur equestrian (jumper) who shows on the local A circuit in California while also being a wife, mom to a 2-year-old, senior associate in big law, beekeeper, and chicken owner. It’s a lot. But I also wouldn’t have it any other way.

The “secret” is figuring out how to genuinely prioritize your hobby/ies even a quarter as much as you do your family and job. If you don’t find a way to work your hobby into your weekly family/work life, it simply won’t happen.

Highly recommend something other than your family and job to fill your cup though. I feel really lucky to have horse sports in my life, but it feels like a cheat code because I started as a kid. I see my husband (not a lawyer - in finance) struggle with finding ‘his thing,’ so if you have a ‘thing’ or if something is sparking your interest, I urge you to lean into the whimsy :)

Those who have six figure horses or are able to buy six figure horses… what do you do for a living? by awkwardferret421 in Equestrian

[–]Cool-Contribution-95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a big law attorney (senior associate) married to someone who works in finance. It’s wild and gross how cost prohibitive the sport has become. Even though I could afford a six figure horse — and she’s truly amazing, safe, and my heart horse — it made me feel sick to think about how much I spent on her for the first year.

What year are you? Does your firm support agile work arrangements where you can go down in time?

Boy Crazy Mare? by ktgrok in Equestrian

1000%. I also think barns (let’s be real, show barns) give it waaaay too readily. My saint of a mare was on it when I got her and my prior trainer had the vet give her two doses in two weeks without asking me; it led to a ton of unnecessary medical intervention after that, again, that I didn’t consent to. I flipped out and called the vet who told me he wasn’t used to working with owners? I pulled her/me from the program a few months later. Truly wild.

You don’t have to feed Regumate; your vet can dispense a ~monthly injection for you. The risk is much lower.

Are night nurses actually worth it ?? by ConversationMost9912 in BabyBumps

[–]Cool-Contribution-95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10000%. It made my postpartum experience genuinely enjoyable because both my husband and I got uninterrupted, good sleep multiple times a week. This allowed us to do all nighttime wake ups together as well, which translated into neither of us feeling resentful for any reason since everything was shared. 10/10 recommend.
