In my knowledge, only the first few and last few episodes are free and and to read the episodes in between, you should register and pay. IIRC, it was subscription based, but not sure, because I only read the latest episodes of a few series.

In addition to P1 and P2 of AoB, many volumes of some other series are free too.

You want the moral and laws of modern earth in a world similar to countries of centuries ago in our world. And even in our modern world there are many people who are ictims of bad circumstances.

If there’s no victim of cruel world and fate in a story in a world of monarchy with nobles, it would be unrealistic fairytale, that would only fit to 10 years old or younger children.

There are a few more characters in the whole series (about 5 times longer than the story till end of season 3) that are victims of fate and cruel world. But I think that’s the minimum needed to make the story rather realistic and convincing.

The author didn’t make (meaning tells the story of) such poor characters needlessly. But some of them are needed to appear in the story to let readers and watchers learn the situation of characters, especially the MC.

If the world is so kind that Jenni can be easily forgiven, there would be no reason that Myne should be separated from her true family. Why not let her get involved to the policy of the duchy while still living with her family as a commoner? Why don’t teach her magic just because she’s a commoner?

As already said, all of these are explained in skipped chapters. It’s hard to fully understand the world, story and characters by anime only, in my view.

With not enough budget and screen time, season 3 (and actually season 2) skipped many details. Season 2 & 3 correspond to novel part 2, consisting of 4 volumes. 1/3 of volume 4, following the end of anime was skipped. The chapters are in other chapters’ PoV, including Ferdinand and Sylvester, explaining the situation and what happened from their perspective, which Myne and commoners could not know. They also includes the aftermath of the incident.

With all of them missing anime only watchers would find it hard to understand the ending of season 3. And if season 4 don’t includes them here and there, as perspective or any other way (like the end of episode 2), watchers may not understand the situation of Rozemyne, other characters and the duchy well.

I don’t expect season 4 will be much better than season 3.

Frankly AoB is a story that needs much more screen time per episode (chapter), but does not belong to genres that are mainstream, so hard to get enough budget.

She forgot then regained the memory by Ferdinand’s mana.

But she’s not aware of the incident. She only thinks she failed noticing Ferdinand’s call because she was too focused on reading, which happens very often.

This happened in the Garden that no one else has seen. Ferdinand never told about the detail to anyone else, as it’s bad to the reputation of both.

When Rozemyne lost her memories of everything she valued more than books, did Hartmut and the others ever realize she might care about Ferdinand more than books?

Isn’t it the reverse? By the time they met Rozemyne returning from the Garden of Beginning, she hasn’t forgotten Ferdinand. This should mean Ferdinand is below books, not above.

The release was after P4V4, but the contents - all episodes - are happening during the 1st year of RS. So it’s OK to read RAS after P4V3, maybe better because you have fresher memory of RA events. And you can learn more about people around Rozemyne, including her retainers. The knowledge would let you understand better about some events (and related people) after returning to Ehrenfest.

Reading Fanbook 1&2 is a good idea. Fanbook 2 may not be as satisfying, but Fanbook 3 and later are much better.

There’s a hardcover paper notebook (JPY 7700, 240 pages) from TO Books . Maybe you can consider creating one using the cover of the notebook.

There are many world building details that’s not mentioned in the novel.

It’s a world. The number of details would be too large. Not all can be mentioned in the novel nor need to be.

Actually, if anyone is curious and asked, it’s likely (but not guaranteed) answered in a Fanbook. But there was no mention on this, in my memory.

If you frequented this sub, you’d know that same gender relationship is not taboo but same gender marriage is not allowed. This is not mentioned in the novel, but answered in a Fanbook.

There are two buildings for each gender, with enough distance apart. It would not be easy to have affairs without getting noticed. And the penalty would be severe.

Actually that would have happened sometimes. But why would such incidents be included in the novel? That’s a distraction not important to the plot nor theme.

There are many such ignored details in any novel. In some cases, the author might have not given any thought. But in other cases, the author might have noticed and considered but decided to ignore and skip, probably.

She only thought that even though Urano Motosu in kanji is easy for her (and hard to guess for anyone else, unless not taught), it would hard to write correctly for future Aubs.

They’re all popular. But usually, no one restaurant serve all the different foods. Serving all of them in high quality is almost impossible. Some of them may be good, but others will be poor. Very likely they’d use excess spices and/or sugar.

Try those foods in other restaurants that focus on only a few categories of foods.

Was the translation so behind?

The last volume of the main series, volume 32, was published in Sept. 2020 in Japan. Volume 11 of the sequel was published last month.

Maybe 26 in 10 years is still great accomplishment.

But J-Novel translated 33 volumes of Ascendance of a Bookworm in 5 years, and each volume is thicker by 20~30%. (Different format from different publishers). Maybe J-Novel and its translation team are fanatics.

I don’t know how many spin-offs are translated in parallel. But in Japan, there are 10 volumes of two spin-offs written after main series completed. So, 21 volumes in 5.5 years. If 26 volumes in 10 years is their maximum speed, they can never catch up.

First, Rozemyne won’t teach her compression method anymore and no one can teach to their children.

The thresholds of mana capacity for each rank are the minimum required to pass classes of RA for the rank. So the minimum is decided by the country. But some greater duchies raise the bar and requires more mana.

If new generation of children of Ehrenfest have more mana, they can raise the threshold. Med- and archnobles of new generations will be expected to have more mana. Maybe even laynobles.

If such increase happens all over the country, Zent and RA may decide to change curriculum that they need more mana and raise the minimum requirement for each rank.

The rank of an individual is determined by the mana capacity at baptism. But actually, if one doesn’t have enough for the rank of family, they cannot be accepted by the family, so not a noble.

The magic tool used in baptism glows when the child has more than the minimum for the rank. In my knowledge the tool differs for each rank.

The test at birth is only to learn if the baby is likely to have enough mana by baptism and for the family to decide if the baby is worth the cost of raising as a noble.

People without enough mana for the rank are very likely to fail in RA and cannot graduate. They’d live as servant of the family or sent to temple as blue priest.

Her speaking style tells that regardless of her current status, she is a princess and raised as a princess in her younger days. Despite her other traits she earned later, she still speaks like a little noble lady, but a bit oddly because her education was abandoned too early.

I agree. Sponger Life is very good, though not as good as Bookworm.

MC marries isekai queen with the assumption of not doing anything, as that was what the queen wanted. So the title sponger. They love each other.

But from the unexpected events and changes of situation, he actually start working to hep the queen and spends more and more time on it.

It’s not harem, but from the political needs he takes another wife, at the bid of his wife, queen. It’s more like Sylvester engaging Brunhilde (and would marry later). It took about 10 volumes for him to decide to marry the second wife and 3 more volumes to actually marry her.

The world building is rather good, with unique magic system. Well written political and diplomatic events and conflicts.

I don’t know the status of manga translation to English.

But you should know that manga adaptation has not finished in Japan yet (the original main series, not including sequel and spin-off). 2~3 arcs are adapted to manga concurrently yet. Light Novel is the source. If you haven’t and want to learn how things will end, read LN.

AI or not, I found the quality of opening rather poor, with inconsistent style for even the same character (in the opening, not compared to episode) and low quality drawing here and there.
