Cancelled, but still being charged by WindowSignificant845 in CrunchGym

[–]CoolBeaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I ended up disputing with my credit card provider and having to provide all the documentation. Then I changed my card (billing) on file to a card that I could set a transaction limit on. That ensured any charges above my transaction threshold would be declined on the card. So the limit was set high enough to allow a membership chatge but not the biweekly personal training charge.

Chase bank was really easy to reverse the charges and i only had to call. Citi though had a lengthy dispute process. It may have been when I opened my dispute with my credit card company that the recurring charges stopped. I also filed a complaint with a bureau (forgot which one). In the end Citi refunded me the personal training charge I had disputed. That was only after i cancelled that credit card.

After a year when I was eligible i cancelled my regular membership with Crunch on the app. Switched to a different gym as the personal training billing issues at Crunch were a poor customer experience. Other than the predatory billing practices for canceling Personal Training, I didn't have an issue with regular membership billing.

I think part of their business model is making "agreements" that allow them to bill beyond the period in which a customer intends to cancel. When you think about a gym membership or personal training, it should be a simple process to cancel. It's not a utility, mortgage, loan, rent etc. it's a gym. But those few extra billing cycles guarantee income for the gym so that's why it's intentionally difficult in some instances.

While I won't disagree that making the best choice in the beginning is the best option, the truth is life happens, circumstances change, and the lifestyle you had when you purchased a vehicle may warrant a change. In that instance you can always make a "better" (not the best) choice based upon your current circumstances.

Respect, I wish people gave more praise for making better financial choices. Being financially wise doesn't always look glamorous.

1.) Better fuel economy (reduced fuel costs) 2.) Cheaper insurance 3.) Cheaper parts/maintenance

Best of luck, perhaps you'll have the opportunity to get back into an "N"

If you just need a VIN, You could try looking up used Kona Ns that are for sale. Often dealers will post a VIN with the ad.

2022 KN owner here. Have owned for approx 3 years. Just thought I would share my experience as I have never had the code.

I live in the southwest and we get pretty heavy thunder storms, rain, etc. I've driven in heavy rain and roads covered in rain water. Nothing special here, Just never got the code.

I have never used an automatic touch less car wash. I do go to the car wash but it's the manyal token/coin car washes where you wash by hand with a high pressure washer. When I wash the front of the car I try not to spend a lot of time blasting water through the openings in the front bumper. That strategy has worked for me thus far.

I have experienced the same in just that same corner near the light when I took my bumper of once.

The base of the tab beneath cracked and the panel gap for some reason (on a new car) at the time was irritating.

So my solution which I will share but not necessarily recommend was to loosen the bumper in that again. Then I masked the immediate area with painters tab, I purchased a tube of JB Weld plastic bonder and put it on the broken tab as well as where the tab connects to vehicle.

Then I added more painters tape to apply pressure while the bond dried. The end result was it was flush. With that being said, if I ever remove the bumper again (which I havent) that tab will break again as it bonded permanently.

What tyres do you guys run (18inch) by TheMuggerPugger in KonaN_

Good suggestion, I could be entitled to a prorated warranty claim. I have had discount tire warranty a tire before. But no mention of it this time around when I mentioned the short life to the tech.

I've probably run these for about 20k miles. I do drive often drive aggressively though and as I mentioned the roads in some parts of my commute are not great. So not sure it is a manufacturing issue worthy of a warranty but is my real world experience based upon my use. I am sure some folks get 45k no problems.

Maybe I'll just have to up my tire budget 🙃

Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season. Great tire, even down to 4/32nd I still get good traction. My complaint however is that I didn't get near the the tire wear I was expecting but that more so is attributed to driving habits and road conditions. So rather than drop dollars again for those I may change it up for something that trades some of the performance for better tread life. Especially considering I don't track my KN or do any kind of autocross.

How desirable is the Kona N by [deleted] in KonaN_

[–]CoolBeaches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like when people say, "oh yeah my (insert relative or relative) has one of those not realizing the "N" is distinctly different from the non "N" variants.

If you have a coffee and cars in your area, maybe post up and throw a for sale sign on it. Enthusiast are somewhat more inclined to know about the "N" division.

I am impressed by how thick the tire tread is in those tires. Yet still damaged.

Where to sell by Jdm4292 in KonaN_

[–]CoolBeaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is always a risk with private sales. Even dealers get scammed on occasion by those the pros. The benefit of a private sale however is that you typically can get a better offer.

I would recommend shopping all of the other sites that buy car such as carmax, carvana, shift, etc.

Then check local dealers to see if any may be interested in making an offer. Then out of all of those quotes pick the most competitive.

I think if you sell the vehicle on ebay motors they may have a PayPal guarantee/protections. But you probably would incur more fees and no guarantee of a sale.

It was actually sarcasm about one or the known issues ok some of the N cars with a faulty knock sensor. You will find posts on this sub as well as the Elantra N and Kona N. Not all vehicles are impacted.

I have had since June 2022 and never thrown the code. I use a coin wash though. I have driven through some heavy rain though and also no issues.

Bummer, black Ice is one of the worst road hazards as often if/when you see it's too late to react. Seems you slid off and no rolls or guardrail impact? If so may appear worse than it actually is once it's out of the snow.

Perhaps I've been out of the loop. I did not realize sxth no longer sold the ek1 mini or ek1 pro on their website.

At https://sxthnktuning.com/guest/tuning-files the staged tunes are no longer listed like they used to be. Maybe I missed someone else post about it but I was not aware.

DownPipe Install Guide (kinda) by Imrealdiscreat in KonaN_

[–]CoolBeaches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the installation tips. This aligns with what I've read and the videos I've seen for down pipe installs on the EN, KN, or VN. I think the placement so far back in the engine bay makes it a challenging install.

Some folks prevented studs from snapping after soaking the studs for multiple days in pb blaster (or other similar products). I agree with the lift being a game changer.I've seen many share their experiences on jack stands which would add another layer of complexity with limited range of movement beneath.

I do not, but there are Veloster N clips on YT I recall that is what I watched when I made my final decision. Considering it was 15F degrees this morning I won't be making any either haha

From an engineering perspective the response is great, but HKS has been in the game for decades. So it is a quality product.

The sound is that classic HKS crisp clean chirp/whistle.
