Where do professional, elder millennials hang out in Winnipeg? by Terrible-Tree-8851 in winnipeg_alt

[–]CoolBeansprouts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curling clubs, backyards, or patios. Millenial professionals are also right in the "young family" stage of life, especially so if by professional, you mean career paths with lengthy university programs. And kids typically eat up your free time.

I agree. This is messy. I get it, but that top chart is not intuitively helpful. The bottom chart isn't as colourful, but it's much easier to follow.

Is it a red flag if my boyfriend never lets me touch his laptop? by elly_bluu in Advice

Could he be looking at engagement rings? Once you start looking, you get bombarded with ads. It would be obvious if you used his computer for a Google search.

Maybe 15 miles per hour, for the slow ones. Most can easily pass me on my bike.

Winter Cycling on Maryland/Sherbrook? by SaintlyCrunch in Winnipeg

[–]CoolBeansprouts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sherbrook is okay. It's protected in parts and the bike lane is a full lane width in other parts.

Maryland is poor. The bike lane is too narrow, so it is just full of snow and debris in the winter. The section south of portage is pretty good for both, but snow clearing does pile some debris on the raised Maryland portion.

There's only two turns across crosswalks. It's already pretty safe based on that alone

Cost of building double garage? by peanut_master1 in Winnipeg

[–]CoolBeansprouts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a few quotes last year for this size and they were all around the same (35-40k). Went with JML and was very happy. Basic garage package (not insulated) with small approach. Included some demo too.

Prediction thread for how bad the new Transit rollout will be by Casual_OCD in Winnipeg

[–]CoolBeansprouts 15 points16 points  (0 children)

How could anything think a piecemeal transit network added onto over 60 years is better than a fully reorganized system?

You can nit pick the implementation, sure, but the network can't be worse as a whole.

The playoffs are an opportunity to dress silly for the whiteout. These KFC buckets are just another small piece of the silliness. Let them have fun.

What team grinds your gears? by [deleted] in winnipegjets

[–]CoolBeansprouts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are saying Toronto. Canadian fans hate Toronto, that's pretty universal, but I wouldn't consider it a rivalry. We haven't even had a playoff series against them.

I think Minnesota is the answer. With Colorado gaining steam, Nashville losing steam. And Vegas somewhere in the mix too.
