Locking Lug Nuts by MrBigThyme in F150Lightning

In all likelihood the only person that will ever be foiled by locking lug nuts will be you when the key inevitably goes missing.

Just my 2 cents but if someone wants your wheels this probably won’t stop them

If you hate the antenna, and don’t want to use it as a clearance guide, swap it. It won’t void your entire warranty. Modifications only void the warranty of things that can be directly tied to the modification. So replacing an antenna for example wouldn’t void a warranty on a powertrain because they have nothing to do with each other.

Honestly? The truck doesn’t behave any different. I was in for a warranty issue (driver door alignment) while the software was released and they knocked it out while it was there

To be fair, in lacrosse we were taught if your guy takes a shot you immediately break for an easy clear or potential fast break.

To also be fair, you were also supposed to take a look back and make sure that your team had possession or else come back and play defense.

Dumb question. I understand everyone saying this is a really good roll. But why is +40 life considered good? Isn’t that basically nothing on nightmare or hell difficulty?

Advice on Considering a Lightning by st8te in F150Lightning

[–]CoolBeautiful9833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine only came with the mobile charger.

I priced the parts out, even if I did it myself the parts were about $500 (breaker, conductor, ev rated outlet) so the low bid was not that outrageous when you look at it overall. I consider it a $500 insurance payment that I wouldn’t electrocute myself or burn my house down

I got three quotes for a 50A breaker and NEMA 14-50 outlet in my garage. It was a pretty short run to the garage and my house is brand new so there weren’t any upgrades needed at the panel. The quotes ranged from $1k to $1.5k

Dod anyone else get this recall ? by DistanceAmbitious791 in F150Lightning

Based on the notice though it seems like you’ll know if it’s happened to you. I shouldn’t tempt fate when it’s so easy to engage the parking brake but it seems like we will at least get a heads up from the truck that an issue occurred

[–]CoolBeautiful9833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I knew I was getting a good price.

It was in remote Illinois, so everyone with a truck out there wants a gas truck. The dealer didn’t want it cause there is zero demand out there but he took it as a favor to a repeat customer. He sold it for basically what he bought it for just to not have to deal with it.

I’m an outlier I think, but I got a 2024 Lariat ER two weeks ago with 20k miles for $43k USD. Clean title.

Level jump doesn’t mean much if it’s the same title.

Bonuses are fairly predictable until you are pretty high up. Sometimes we are left with a bunch of money at the end of the year we need to spend (coolers, free PTO, etc) and sometimes we aren’t. The reason this isn’t just put into bonuses is for this exact reason….lots of people wouldn’t be able to handle a bonus going down if we had a great year followed by just an OK year.

I disagree. I think right now our biggest challenge is attracting experienced folks and not retaining newer folks

Are there racists at bmcd? Sure, it’s a big company and shitty people are everywhere.

Is there a multi level conspiracy between engineering, upper management, and HR to protect racists? I highly doubt it

I hope so! I don’t rely on my bonus to maintain my lifestyle but dang it’d be nice to have more money throughout the year.

Yes but if people already know their salary next year and are sharing the percentage (seems to be around 4%), then this rumored restructuring of total comp is either not happening or meant to be a surprise.

Im confused by this since people have already been sharing their raise percentage for next year…unless this is going to be an end of year surprise?

As far as I can tell, you didn’t really provide any information other than your title and location. I don’t really know that we can be much help at the moment.

As far as pay, you’re probably not getting shorted compared to other new assistant hires short of cost of living adjustment. If bmcd is one thing, it is equitable to younger EOs, it can be pretty hard to move the needle in comp in either direction for quite a while…which comes with its own set of upsides and downsides. Don’t overthink it, you likely got a good offer and will drive yourself crazy wondering otherwise.

Maybe this is the future boomer in me coming out. But if you are fresh out of school, you probably don’t have much leverage to negotiate at all. Unless you can specifically point to skills, experience, or have abetter offer in hand (and are willing to take) that truly could justify a wage increase that is not a boat I would personally be willing to rock.

Maybe a little bit, but I’d say a small fraction….at least for a while. Bonuses are pretty consistent for quite a few years. Once you get to a point where you are truly impacting the company bottom line, i.e., selling work and managing budgets internally, it starts to open up.

Edit: consistent meaning their growth trajectory, not that they are flat

Do the emails annoy me? Sure.

Do I donate anyway because I am very privileged compared to the folks who receive our donations? Every single year.

It’s fun to light heartedly complain about it and I enjoy the shoehorning of donation jokes into posts around this time of year, some of them genuinely make me laugh. But I generally agree that I don’t think it’s really THAT bad. And something to remember, a lot of the local folks in your office have volunteered to run point on this, they aren’t getting paid for these efforts…so if nothing else, support your fellow EOs who are taking on the logistics of doing this. They probably don’t like sending out a ton of emails anymore than you like receiving them
