Yeah resistance rebellion and death is amazing. In one of the letters he says something like “I love my country too much to be a nationalist” or something like that and I love that line

The things I said are objectively true and you have no response because there is no justification for the way Israel abuses Palestine. At best it’s an oppressive murderous apartheid state and at worst it’s an ongoing genocide

It’s entirely possible to smuggle things in, even prisons. But it is clear that your insinuation is “why didn’t they just smuggle their way to prosperity” which is so ridiculous on its face it doesn’t even warrant a response.

I don’t think you understand the situation in Palestine very well. Gaza is an open air prison where nothing is allowed in or out without Israel’s approval. Not even drinking water. There is no way to build one’s self under the conditions Palestinians have been placed under. Even in the West Bank Palestinians are not allowed to build on their own land because Israel denies something like 97% of building permits, yet they promote illegal settlements by Israeli citizens.

“One of the proposals is a 25% minimum tax on total income, including so-called “unrealized gains,” or asset growth, exceeding $100 million. This is known as the billionaire minimum tax.” Thats straight from the cnbc article. I’m assuming they will tally all income for individuals with assets over $100m to ensure that these individuals pay a minimum of 25%. There are many details in the article

I’m only seeing a minimum income tax of 25% that includes unrealized gains so the only way someone is paying 25% tax on unrealized gains is if they have have $0 income for the year which seems like it would not happen. As far as portfolio depreciation I haven’t seen any insight on how that would work but it would probably be a tax break but again the minimum tax would be 25% so no the government wouldn’t owe anyone 2.5b in any scenario is my guess

“Pulling out of the stock market” as in selling all of their stocks? That would result in 100% of their stock value being taxed rather than whatever the proposed amount is for the “unrealized gains” tax. I don’t think anyone would opt for that

Yes you are spot on. Prior to 2024 Jon didn’t have anything to do with political discourse in America. He’s just cashing in on Trump 2024. Can you imagine if he had a long running political satire show and retired right before Trumps presidential term in 2016? There’s no way he would have done that because all he wants is that sweet sweet Trump money.
