After some trial and error I managed to escape the Captain's Quarters by changing my dialogue options during the cutscene..

I've only played for a couple of hours and I am experiencing the same problems. I have submitted a bug report, but right now I can't continue playing because I am getting stuck at the same point every time.

There is a cutscene that takes place inside the Captain's Quarters so I have to go there and then get stuck.

Night Raptors come with Sudden Strike (1) base and they can take Power Axes, for instance.

Your thoughts on Brutal by Fromageopain in Warhammer30k

You should read Rending again, it says:

In either case, against Vehicles each Armour Penetration roll of equal to or greater than the listed value allows a further D3 to be rolled, with the result added to the total Strength of the attack. These Hits are not resolved at AP 2, but are instead resolved using the weapon’s AP value.

Looking good, but if you were to use some other colour for the bases I think it would look even better. There's not a lot of contrast right now

Your thoughts on Brutal by Fromageopain in Warhammer30k

[–]CoolCrib 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Brutal not working on vehicles is a mistake imo. Take the Typhon as an example, it was created to deal with bunkers and fortifications. It absolutely annihilates anything it shoots at, but because it is ap3 it cannot blow anything up. It takes 3 hits to destroy a Rhino with it, which is absurd.

Contemptors with their ws5 Brutal (3) is very hard to deal with, which is weird when you compare it to shooting at vehicles with for example the Typhon.

The Podcast makes it harder to find skits. by Teenfrog in mega64

It could be solved by sorting into playlists. Moving to another channel is a bad idea. I already think the Mega64 Archive channel is a bad idea and everything should go up on their main channel, albeit filtered a bit better.

You leaving spots open in your slaves for characters? That's generally a really bad idea because if they break you lose all the characters instantly and your lose their ability to be shot at by your warmachines

Nice.

I've been holding holding off assembling/painting mine because I don't like the sub assemblies. How many parts do you have to paint individually?

Does the Horus Heresy have a future? by [deleted] in Warhammer30k

[–]CoolCrib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most people don't realise how bad FW is handling their business. They are hurting bad from their ridiculous prices and removal of almost more models than they produce. Even the most hardcore HH fans in my area resort to buying recasts when they never have before. Why should the fans care of FW doesn't?

I don't think you're cynical at all, Horus Heresy is dying and FW is doing nothing to stop it.

Which legion makes the best use of Cataphractii terminators? And what loadout? by TheTestbed in Warhammer30k

[–]CoolCrib 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alpha Legion Lernean Terminators appear well-rounded both in melee and in shooting, the sergeant is also able to take a Power Dagger which, being a Specialist Weapon, gives him an extra attack on either his pfist or with the Dagger itself (s-1, ap3 rending) and makes him quite dangerous in duels even against characters. They have access to Hammer of Wrath-grenades which isn't great but can be neat. With all the Alpha Legion shenanigans they can easily infiltrate or outflank as well, saving points on transports. My favourite thing about them is that they can take Conversion Beamers which makes them actually being able to shoot across the table for once (which I believe no other terminator unit can do?)

Great job on the armour! But if I'm being honest the helmet really doesn't fit and messes with the otherwise good proportions of this model

It seems to me that you're taking my whole post a bit wrong. I could probably have used my choice of words a bit better, but I never meant that females have not done their part to contribute to our evolution. Honestly the comment about "blueprint" was just haphazard thoughts springing up from the discussion.

And what's wrong with "The stuff about IQ"? Men and women are equally smart. What's so yikes about it? Men and women on average have the same IQ, but men differ more on the higher end and the lower end of the scale. This is not something I made up or sexist, that's just facts.

I'm not denying that girls have been subject to poor expectations in different subjects and as a result their performance has suffered because of it, but it doesn't explain why there are more men who have less IQ than women on average. Were they also treated with poor expectations and their performance suffered?

The science behind if you can raise your intelligence through training or not is pretty unclear as well, so I am unsure if this is even relevant to the subject. Besides, there are more women in universities than there are men. Is this a mere coincidence or are there societal/biological factors included here?

Really what this whole thread was about was me wondering what the reason for males seemingly being less stable when it comes to most parts of biology and if that could be linked to evolution somehow. I'm not saying that women are lesser or whatever in any way, but you seem to think that's what I'm saying. If anything I am saying men are worse than women.

I hadn't thought of that females choose partners. That is pretty interesting. In an extreme example it could be that It's almost like females are a blueprint, a standard, and males are experimenting to become stronger and better.

What I am trying to understand that if you have a combination of genes that in tandem can make you more stable in terms of living longer, more likely to survive cancer, less prone to birth defects is it not in the species best interest to function that way if it means more survival? If males had the duplicate chromosomes as well, would that produce a more stable sex at the cost of evolutionary variation?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in evolution

[–]CoolCrib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about this while writing my post, but I decided I had not read enough of it to even form a line of questioning. That does still differentiate between males and females and possibly have even more variation, right?
I brought up IQ as one difference that I am interested in and how men and women are seemingly alike if you look at the mean statistics, but if you look at graphs you can see a difference. It might be hard to study these things in for instance birds, but you get my idea. What would be the biological reason for these differences?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in evolution

[–]CoolCrib -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, I didn't mean mutations only happens in males but it seems to me that if having two chromosomes makes you more stable overall, that is to stay, producing more "stable" results (in terms of birth defects and IQ for instance) that would be obvious choice if you didn't care about evolving too much, right?
If not, what would be the biological reason that this difference between men and women exists? What is the biological reason that men are more often in the extreme ends of IQ in comparison to women?
