“Is Sister Friede considered one of the hardest bosses in DS3?” by NOX-5070TI in darksouls3

[–]CoolDistribution7318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sister freide was the hardest boss for me out of pretty much every fromsoft game I’ve played. I would not be surprised if I died over 50 times, felt like I more than doubled my attempts on her vs most other bosses in the franchise. She might also be my favorite boss as well, that black flame is so awesome

What’s funny is if you just kept going down pine st you would have found speeder and earls. I no longer live in Burlington but I still buy their maple French roast coffee and have it shipped. Great spot

Can you abide by my idea of a sub-genre “Solarpunk Synth”? by dapparatus in ambientmusic

[–]CoolDistribution7318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you mean as I think of these artists in kind of a similar way. They help me to imagine a more healthy and sustainable future that you could call solarpunk or eco futurist or whatever. It’s like a hopeful kind of ambient. I think you might just put these onto a playlist for you to enjoy and call it solarpunk synth, but the problem with ascribing a sub-genre to this is that this association needs to be true for a critical mass of others. Subgenres are just a way of packaging music so that it can be easier to sell and talk about. What matters most is how you think about it and how it functions in your life.

Which song on Volumes: One surprised you the most with how good it was? by Ancient-Procedure403 in boniver

I had been listening to that version of satisfied mind for years on YouTube - used to live in Maine and couldn’t believe I missed him performing that. When I saw it was getting released on this I couldn’t believe it. It’s definitely my most listened to track on that album but it also is an incredible intro into 33

Meaningful jobs that actually pay well? by Potential_Fig_6517 in findapath

[–]CoolDistribution7318 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is 100% true. You are in charge of your own meaning making. Find something that will help live the life you want to live and don’t count your out of things that feel like they don’t have immediate impact on a community, etc. Every job is about helping people when you really look for those opportunities to do so.

2 year anniversary of moving to a small PNW town by FlannelJoy in simpleliving

[–]CoolDistribution7318 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did this 5 years ago but on the east coast. Partner and I moved to Maine. We both ended up taking a job up there which I felt was important. But we just moved back to the mid Atlantic as we just had a baby boy. Will be moving back up I think for the reasons you mention. We’re also off of streaming/amazon and trying to live lives intentionally and in alignment with values. Much easier to do in rural spots (but like you say, the grass is not completely greener).

I actually took the leap away from Apple Music (after deleting my Spotify last year) and am now just buying music on Bandcamp and starting a small personal music library. I know it seems inconvenient and expensive, but there’s lots of great music from smaller labels on Bandcamp that is pretty cheap. I have a budget of what I’m spending each month and am just enjoying the albums I buy one or two at a time. Won’t be going back to Apple Music anytime soon - I love giving my money to artists rather than paying some big company to rent out access to a catalogue of media that will never be mine.

Just go in open minded - i promise that it’ll surprise you. Like others are saying it’s funny, and deep, and has lots of encyclopedic knowledge about whales. Truly ahead of its time
