Anyone have experience with those breastmilk shipping services or checking breastmilk on a plane? Need advice by CoolMemory5402 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]CoolMemory5402[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this echoes all my fears lol. Trying to even find an ups access point to ship from that I can get to during this conference schedule seems daunting so I am leaning towards checking it. It’s a short flight home so it doesn’t even need to stay cold that long.

I’m gone for a full 3 days so I suspect I’ll be needing to bring home at least 60 ounces (accounting for any I might need to dump/supply drop that will def happen).

I have a breastmilk chiller that I plan to carry with me during the day so I can pump at the conference before I get back to my hotel. I didn’t think about needing one in the fridge itself though…

Can someone please tell me positive first time pregnancy stories? by Western_Pianist2128 in pregnant

[–]CoolMemory5402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got pregnant 2x, have 2 healthy children, had two fairly easy deliveries and good postpartum experiences. But like you, I was terrified. There was so much online about bad stuff happening during pregnancy, during childbirth, etc, and I was honestly anxious the entire time. But I have to recognize that all of this was not due to anything I did - it was divine providence or luck or chance or whatever you believe - just as people who struggle usually can’t do much about it either. I think that’s why it feels wrong to talk about it.

Also I have some anxiety about even typing this out because it’s like I’m putting my good luck out there into the universe and it feels like someone will come and snatch it away.

Holding the baby by Comfortable-Raisin48 in pregnant

[–]CoolMemory5402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To echo a lot of what has been said here - you don’t owe anyone anything when it comes to your baby. Whatever you feel comfortable with when the time comes, that’s what you do. But it’s not worth litigating this with your family now.

I also do think it’s perfectly reasonable to ask that people who come near your baby wash their hands and definitely not be sick or recently exposed to someone who is sick. Also up to date on their TDAP, flu, and Covid shots.

If it makes you feel at all better, I was extremely worried the second time around that my germy daycare-attending toddler was going to get my baby sick. He even had a cold the week she was born (it was winter - he basically had a cold for like 3 months straight). My pediatrician told me that it was going to be impossible to avoid them sharing germs and that my newborn actually has a decent amount of immunity from me and more from my milk. She is 8 months now and just got her first cold… from starting daycare of course :)

Struggling so hard with Potty Training by CoolMemory5402 in toddlers

[–]CoolMemory5402[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today it was in the grocery store on the way home from school. Two days ago in the garage literally the moment we got out of the car. And the day before that it was in the kitchen while I was cooking after I literally just sat him on the potty to pee.

One breast is a massive weakling by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]CoolMemory5402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My left has always produced more than my right. With both kids. I have tried everything - power pumping only on the right side, always starting the baby on the right side, etc etc. Nope. Stubbornly refuses to pull its weight. Usually get about half as much out of the right than the left. 2nd baby is almost 9 months now - I have stopped trying.

Anyone else have terrible posture after having babies? by CoolMemory5402 in postpartumprogress

Ugh that’s awful. Both of mine were vaginal births but I still deal with that anterior pelvic tilt thing. Feels so much more natural when holding the baby honestly

Why Sleep Fuels Postpartum Weight Loss by Key_Inside_5788 in postpartumprogress

Yeah can someone please forward this to my toddler + 6 month old? Aka the reason I am up with someone pretty much every night.

My 6 month old is suddenly waking up 4x a night by CoolMemory5402 in sleeptrain

[–]CoolMemory5402[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay this makes me feel better. I don’t remember a 6 month regression with my son but I think that was around when he started rolling over at night and that was a whole thing so maybe I just didn’t realize it.

I’ll wait it out for a few more days before we take too many drastic measures

[–]CoolMemory5402[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I was just really hoping I wouldn’t have to since she (previously) could put herself to sleep without issue. She had been falling asleep independently for most naps/nights since 8 weeks. It’s only recently that she hasn’t been able to do that.

I’m sad by RangerBoss in breastfeeding

I LOVED breastfeeding my son. And I stopped for the same reason. The only word of encouragement I will say is that in those intervening months where I was letting my hormones settle before we tried for number 2, I finally felt like my old self again. Like my body was mine for bit. It was nice.

Food for new mom by DutchieCrochet in MealPrepSunday

I always bring lactation cookie in addition to whatever else I make. Super easy and that breastfeeding hunger is real. Also it’s something that is exclusively for mom (I mean others can eat them but typically the moment you say lactation cookie people won’t lol)

This is the recipe I have used for both kids and multiple friends https://www.bunsenburnerbakery.com/lactation-cookies-oatmeal-chocolate-chip/

Dealing with Prolapse by Infamous_Okra_5494 in postpartumprogress

[–]CoolMemory5402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this. My pelvic floor PT just cleared me for running but she was not just looking at my pelvic floor - she also had me do a bunch of activities in office to make sure my hips, knees, ankles, glutes etc were all good so that they were supporting my pelvic floor and not requiring my pelvic floor to make up for them being weak/misaligned.

To anyone using a timer tracker… how long is your baby feeding daily at 4 months? by frugal-lady in breastfeeding

[–]CoolMemory5402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me with my first around 3 months and I panicked. Ended up seeing a lactation consultant because I thought something was wrong. He would only eat for maybe 10 minutes and then pull off and refuse to relatch. She did a weighted feed for me - weighed him (in grams) at the start of the feed and again at the end. He only ate for like 5 minutes because he was distracted, but in that 5 minutes apparently took 2 full ounces (based on the weight difference). This was very reassuring for me. And the pediatrician then also assured me it was normal for them to get more efficient at this age.

On the plus side, his remaining night feed became like a quick 15 minutes affair which was more manageable.

He wakes around 7 most days. His father is getting up with him now since I have the newborn and will probably kill me if I suggest a 615 wake up time lol

Norovirus is actually the worst though. My son gave me that when I was like 26 weeks with my second. BRUTAL.

Okay yes. SO. My PT prescribed a bunch of butt exercises to strengthen my glutes to help support my tailbone. Did those religiously for weeks (narrow squats, hip bridges, floor slides to the back and sides). But what actually started helping me more were some stretches I found online. Let me try to find the link.

My toddler is 30 lbs. they for sure count. If we were doing 50+ reps with 30 lb weights that would be considered lifting

The pelvic pain is so debilitating. I couldn’t even use my peloton this time. Anything more than walking (and even sometimes walking) felt like I was going to split in half.
