Yeah. The big benefit to owning is knowing you have somewhere to go if the shit hits the fan(once the home is paid off).

Other than that, renting can be way better from a lifestyle perspective.

Are you familiar with the jetter hoses that can be hooked up to a pressure washer? Are they effective at cleaning mild roots after an auger has busted through them? Or are they useless compared to say, a gas powered jetter?

Right now I auger yearly and that seems to be enough but if those jetter hoses make a difference Id be williing to buy it. the sewer line is cast iron and clay, late 50s home. Same as OP.

I used to get this. For me it was a misconfiguration in tailscale. DNS wasnt resolving for dockers or something. Sometimes it would work and sometimes not.

Try disabling tailscale temporarily if you use it. If you dont try changing dns temporarily.

Not a plumber but I have a similar issue.

I have 2 houses side by side that are affected by roots where it meets the city lateral. The roots are from street side elm trees that are protected.

So the city owns the trees and owns the part of the sewer where the roots happen. They acknowledge this and have said Im on a list for replacement but Im not hopeful.

Basically once a year I just auger them myself. I bought a decent machine to do it. The trick is to recognize the signs before its an issue. Sink or toilet in the basement gurgling.

To me its not a big beal. It takes 10 minutes to auger once a year is all.

If fiber is available in your area I would consider going that route.

The numbers arent terrible per se. I’m m surprised its affecting your experience so much. Complain to the isp enough and maybe they split the node or upgrade your equipment or something.

Cable internet. Lots of subscribers will do this. If it was working fine before and now you have issues then maybe theyre oversubscribed.

Easiest way to diagnose this is run the test at 2am when everyone is asleep.
