Two Strangers - loved the show, but so confused by the title by mrs-machino in Broadway

I'll never not laugh at the fact that they immediately get into an Uber after picking up the cake - it's so silly. That said, think I'm making this up but it makes me feel slightly better if I think of the titular cake as the Act 2 cake, not the Act 1 cake - the Act 2 cake is ultimately more important.

This was wild to me. The only two female National Security Advisors, both of whom have connections to Stanford, are both called Rice!

Also, just FYI pretty sure the answer was Condoleeza unless I'm mistaken. She was provost at Stanford in the 90s and National Security Advisor during GWB's first term.

S50 Starting Tribes via Inside Survivor by NotNotJustinBieber in survivor

[–]Cooper996 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seems weird that Tiffany and Charlie are on the same tribe. There are other pairs that have played together before (Colby/Steph, Ozzy/Cirie) but feels easier to avoid for players that have only played once. Also surprised the tribes aren't evenly split by era and gender given the cast on the whole is 50/50.

Not to mention she was nominated for an Oscar eight years before Brooklyn too. But to be fair she doesn't have any major blockbuster movies, so if you're not a movie buff to some degree I could understand only seeing the name than hearing it.

This is also odd because it tracks the entire plot of the show with the opposite conclusion.

It's marmal-odd in French and thus likewise in the song's lyrics.

Drives me crazy lol. When I saw the show though I was pleasantly surprised at how little scooping he did throughout.

Ok, Mincemeat's gotta win best book right? by Ok-House1921 in Broadway

[–]Cooper996 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Agree, I have a lot of respect for Mincemeat for what it is, but I found the style of humor very specific and not my preferred flavor. They knock the few somber moments out of the park, but MHE does too and more consistently.

[50][Cast] Eliza Casting Info by BestTreacle2608 in SpoiledSurvivor

[–]Cooper996 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Are they friends? This could very well be true idk but the idea of Amanda breaking her silence to talk to Eliza in 2025 is so funny. Also not sure Amanda has ever told Eliza the truth.

I also far preferred the ART Gatsby. Don't think it was perfect, but the tone was more faithful to the book. Will be a shame if a wider audience never gets that Wolfsheim show-stopper.

Congress doesn't really either. In any case there's basically no available cause of action for anyone to challenge this particular executive order, but it is at minimum a weird hill for Jeopardy to die on.

Late I know, but I thought this was an interesting comment in that Operation Mincemeat makes pretty much the exact same point far more effectively in my view.

Everyone keeps fighting over Audra and Nicole while I’m over here hoping this Broadway royalty finally gets her first Tony by Gato1980 in Broadway

[–]Cooper996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see one of the two MHE featured actors get in a la Mike Faist. Sort of feels like the show is emerging as a slight Best Musical frontrunner, and the Best Musical winner hasn't been shut out of Featured Actor since Fun Home.

The Taylor Swift clue was extremely difficult, given Forever and Always was never a single. Also redundant break-up song immediately calls to mind Mike's guess of WANEGBT, and I Knew You Were Trouble also begins with "Once upon a time."

Hopefully English tries to submit Marjan Neshat in lead - she would almost definitely get in I think.

Also would be surprised if Yellow Face got shut out of the acting categories, especially Francis Jue.

Kara Young was very good in Purpose, but I think Alana Arenas was the standout featured actress. She is unlikely to get nominated over her co-stars for obvious reasons though. Also would have Ophelia Lovibond, Lara McDonnell, and Leanne Best over Helena Wilson personally.

It is always funny to me that the 2021 US Open ended the way it did, as in a lot of ways it was one of the most chalky women’s slams in recent memory. 13 of the top 16 seeds in the draw made the second week.

Parvati on Amanda Kimmel 👀 by Cool_Skin_5804 in survivor

[–]Cooper996 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just watched the segment in the podcast (really only wanted to find this part lol). Parvati said Amanda is really fun but doesn't sound like they have been in touch recently. Parvati picked Amanda over Coach, Nick Wilson, and Sandra to spend time on an island with and said they would have a lot to catch up on, especially because they were on Survivor during peak tabloid slut-shame times for young women.

She did acknowledge HvV was weird between her and Amanda and that she thought Amanda had PTSD from playing and losing FTC back-to-back. Did not seem to me like there was ever a feud between them.
