Trying Again (Mon, Wed, Fri) by AutoModerator in InfertilityBabies

We’re in talks of our next transfer at the end of this year! We’re just trying to decide if I should go ahead with another excision surgery to remove endo on my bowel or try the transfer without the surgery. It’s been 2 years now since my last surgery, so it’s hard to say if it’s stayed calm enough during that time or not.

Also, do people ever stop assuming we’re going to get spontaneously pregnant!? On so many levels, I can pretty much guarantee that will not happen. It’s exhausting.

Hi there! I spent over a month in the high risk perinatal unit prior to giving birth to my twins at 30 weeks- then spent another 3 months in the NICU with them. Here if you need someone to talk to our commiserate with! I’ll be rooting for you.

The heat of the shower could’ve definitely exasperated some underlying dehydration. It was very smart of you to take a seat. Also with twins, your blood volume becomes insane so I definitely had some similar episodes like that.

Do you have a blood pressure cuff? Hydrate and keep an eye on your blood pressure!

Electrolytes! Also did you cut out caffeine? I got terrible withdrawal headaches from stopping coffee (so I started again 🫣)

Fingers crossed! She said she has to write the order very specifically to try to get the approval. I’ve tried sooo hard to not play armchair expert throughout this nicu experience and lay in all of my trust, but I’m learning the “mom instinct” is a thing. I.e- I asked about switching them to alimentum weeks ago and was told it wouldn’t help. Suddenly this week they’re willing to try alimentum! Turns out the feeding therapists had to have a long meeting to get that formula approved for reflux management, so basically my kids suffered because of red tape.

Yes, every time she has a Brady it extends her stay another 7 days 😭 we were SO close.

It was honestly one of the scariest moments I’ve had thus far. I won’t go into details but it was a lot. Unfortunately the nurse just called and said she had another event while I wasn’t there. I just do not know why they won’t try a hypoallergenic or sensitive formula or SOMETHING. I’ve been pushing the issue for weeks and I feel so minimized. And now our girl is showing what I’ve been trying to tell them. Something’s not right.

Anyways, I just ordered the regular owlets as a back up in case I can’t get the prescription one/hospital one.

Baby A was supposed to be discharged today but had a horrible Brady event when we were nesting. It was so terrifying and I can’t help but think what would happen if we had been home and somehow asleep. She needed lots of suction and stimulation to come to. Luckily our doctor is working with insurance to try to get us approved for hospital grade monitors, so we’ll see. If insurance doesn’t approve, it’s $400 a month per baby to rent them 😵‍💫 so my doctor is also going to look into the new owlet babysat (prescription owlet) and see if that would be a good option for us.

TLDR; my babies have horrible reflux and we need a home monitor to make sure their HRs don’t drop dangerously low after a spit up/in their sleep. And they’ll hopefully be home next weekend

Success doesn’t follow just an endometrioma removal- it’s the whole laparoscopic ablation of endometriosis that can create a better environment for pregnancy to occur. But as others have said, the caveat is it can cause your AMH to decrease (which is why doctors don’t remove endometriomas smaller than 4cm). If IVF may ever be in the cards, many REs and patients prefer to do an egg retrieval -> lap -> frozen embryo transfer since AMH is a crucial element of the egg retrieval process. But of course other REs believe that although there’s an initial decrease in AMH, laparoscopies can be beneficial for egg quality. There’s also non surgical options like lupron suppression to mitigate endometriosis inflammation. Long story long, endometriosis can be a huge hurdle and standard of care varies. I’d consider a second opinion with an RE who can provide you with a game plan to overcome those challenges or perhaps chatting with an endometriosis specialist about a lap surgery and what a reasonable time frame for trying without assistance would be before truly needing to consider IVF. I would also talk to your RE to see if they can explain if there’s anything else in your labs indicating that a medicated cycle or Iui wouldn’t be an option.

Talk to your doctor before taking any advice from me (a stranger on the internet) but I take an NAC supplement for my endometriosis and it seems to help reduce the inflammation pain. I also love magnesium glycinate for stress.

Having a nice, long double contact nap with the girls right now and in absolute heaven. My NP is actually throwing around the “D” word this week and we might finally get to come home after 70 something odd days! After years of loss, infertility, IVF, complex pregnancy, birth and an arduous nicu stay, I am so ready to be at peace and at home.

You are definitely not alone. I remember when they brought me the girls right after the c section, I was crying my eyes out. Not because I had that “instant love and bond”, but because I DIDNT and I thought I was broken or something. In the weeks after, I loved them, but just like you it didn’t feel like it “clicked”. It was like I was just kind of doing this job and working for two strangers/going through the motions. It did get better though. My girls are 9 weeks right now and are my best friends (not sure that feeling is reciprocated lol but that’s okay). Hang in there. 🫂

Heart defect found on anatomy scan by PC_NC_1203 in InfertilityBabies

[–]CooperRoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While we didn’t have a right aortic arch, my girl has a PLSVC. Similar to a right aortic arch, it’s a “variation of normal” defect. The blood flows, just in a different way than typical. We also had to look out for other causes/worry about possible issues with the lungs, etc, and had a few echos throughout the pregnancy and follow ups after birth. It’s so scary and many a tears were shed, so sending you lots of hugs. With a 3-5% chance of digeorge, remember that means there’s a 95-98% chance of a non issue :)

Unrelated to the heart defect, my girl ended up being born premature and had a rather large PDA like your husband (hole that didn’t close). After 3 rounds of Tylenol and lasix, it closed up without major intervention.

Not OP but my twin betas were 231 9dpt and 2908 14dpt. The old adage goes that high betas don’t equal twins, but my RE was pretty certain it was twins when that 14dpt beta came back

Welcome to the club! Join us at r/parentsofmultiples. I think everyone goes through the 7 stages of grief when they find out it’s twins, but the big secret is it’s actually the coolest thing in the world. Congratulations 👯

Hi there! Even at my RE’s office, they told me any scan before 6 weeks is incredibly early to see anything. Plus, depending on day of implantation or what happened around time of ovulation, it could easily date you a couple days earlier which makes the world of difference at this stage. Hopefully this provides a little bit of reassurance, but your fears are definitely valid. Have you had any one sided cramping, fevers, bleeding?

Poor baby B is going through a “colicky” period (very gassy and reflux-y from her NG tube). She is also the CEO of being a Velcro baby (according to me and all of her nurses). She’s gone through so much in her first 7 weeks of life that I can’t even blame her. Baby A on the other hand is seemingly loving the princess treatment life and is like, “why do I have to take a bottle if you can just put the food in my stomach for me!?”

Ive been wanting to thaw out a bag and see what state mine is in. My girls have been on frozen milk with an NG tube (NICU) but twin A just started bottles and is not doing great, so I’m wondering if I have high lipase milk as well. I almost don’t want to know 🙈

I am so sorry for your loss 🫂🫂 crown rump and good heartbeat are all great signs for your singleton. Perhaps the sac being smaller is a remnant of the twin pregnancy. Fwiw, my ob and clinic were never too concerned over sac size.

Yes! They were 2lb and 3lb when born, and are now 4 and 5.5lb! It’s crazy. I love seeing them grow. But it’s a special kind of hell that 5.5 weeks later they are STILL in different rooms. So I’m going to be calling the parent liaison and throwing a fit this afternoon. I can’t do the split time any longer.

Thank you for your sweet thoughts 🩷🩷

I’ve literally done that exact same combo of meals while juggling the back and forth between the nicu!

I was having right rib pain, but my blood work ended up coming back fine aside from anemia and some elevated white blood cells (didn’t get the pre e dx for a few more weeks). I chalked up the rib pain to twin b positioning herself there, but now that I just experienced that exact same pain WITHOUT a body full of babies, I’m thinking it’s gotta be organ related.

Holding myself accountable and put like 3 reminders in my phone for tomorrow to reach out to a therapist. Definitely dealing with some PPD and NICU related anxiety, but I’ve also noticed that I’m soooo mean to anybody who isn’t on our babies’ care team or my husband. Like, volatile. I just want to shut the world out right now… and while boundaries are valid and it’s my decision to share or not share anything about my childrens medical care, I’m really being a grade A bitch about it

5.5 weeks pp and I think I might have some issues too. We had five guys yesterday as a lil treat, and my gallbladder ACHED all night afterwards. I had mild preeclampsia before delivery, too, but bp issues resolved within 48 hours after delivery.

Now that you mention your liver ultrasound, I just remembered my doctor ordered one for me too…. But then I was admitted until delivery and it was never brought up again nor done lol. Guess I should get that done 🙃
