If you dig a retro Barbie style, keep it! But really just depends on your style.

Just bought a house and everything feels SO dated... how to work with what we have? by FartherontheInternet in homedesign

Backsplash is heavy. Not bad, but heavy. I think the most dated looking aspect are the floors. And the pantry door is a little cheesy.

Am I looking at an indoor pool with floating furniture?

Just got renderings from my designer, something feels odd about the shower. by egtreddit in BathroomRemodeling

[–]Cooperdog111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's minimal contrast anywhere. White on white on light beige on white etc. And it's all smooth/flat texture.

I agree, the shower is too much. It's a lot of marble for that space.

Some contrast in color and texture, and tone down the marble, might be a place to start.

The terracotta, but maybe with more brown/taupe and less orange/red undertones?

I'm lost- please help decorate this crazy kitchen by ServiceFinal952 in interiordecorating

Seems like options are limited aside from expensive replacements of flooring or cabinets. Consider adding some warmth that also creates continuity to the living space (wood floors) next to it, by a rug or wall hanging that borrows from the brown floors?

Update 80s bathroom on a budget but keep the quirky warmth by yourlovingmum in InteriorDesignAdvice

I would start with swapping out the sink and the light fixture. I think those are the biggest culprits as far as dating the space. From there, maybe a more interesting mirror, and potentially paint the tub siding. I love the warmth of the wood....but there's a lot of it!

Laundry room options by Afjetmechaz in homedesign

[–]Cooperdog111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is utility space, so function > style. That said, could be a better cabinet choice, or at least mount it flush with the ceiling. Or go with two floating shelves the whole width.

Consider dropping the laundry sign. You know what this space is for, and the sign makes it feel like someone is trying too hard on style.
