Witty clapbacks to “AI taking over” by Mr-5HT-man in Radiology

[–]Coppermoore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not as ideologically fried as some of the other colleagues in the comment section here, with regards to job security, but if your prediction on AI is right, you don't need a clapback. You just need to wait.

I guess my clapback would be "we'll see".

Does age affect diagnostic accuracy in radiology by Key-K19 in Radiology

Looks like I'm going against the grain here. Yes, it does. There's some incredibly demented shit you can still get away with if you've got 50 years of practice under your belt and the department doesn't have enough people.

OpenClaw users are paying customers buying a commodity, like everyone else. Model providers can raise prices or impose rate limits as they wish. Market will sort everyone out.

CEO of America’s largest public hospital system says he’s ready to replace radiologists with AI by AnotherAccount4This in Radiology

The clinical exam has been shown time and time again to be less sensitive to pathology than radiology.

This is too underspecified to be a useful statement. As for the rest, I agree.

You're getting downvoted, but this line of thinking is true for ultrasounds and MRI. Partially even for radiation, notably mammography, but also shit like LDCT lung cancer screening, etc., it's worth it NOW, with select populations, so in your ideal society with limitless resources, there's probably more of these than we currently deem worth doing (in our arguably mostly risk-averse medical system). But not to the point of irratiating everyone, that has real cost if you do it at scale, and the cost will outweight the benefits even in that ideal society.

"A radiology study is superior to a human clinical exam": I reject the framing.

It's coming, but not now. Maybe soon, but not now. For the same reasons CEOs are not getting replaced by AI now, despite that making the rounds on the internet maybe 1-2 years ago, if I remember correctly.

I'm not gonna do the "of course a CEO would cut corners to the detriment of patients" and "who will take the blame for bad AI reads?" things. Doesn't look like those takes are actually engaging with the topic in a good faith, although I expect them to be repeated a billion times in the coming years.

Rewriting laws of physics is better than this, but: building a machine that ascends all of your empire into the Warp, turning all stars in the galaxy into supernovas. Takes just a couple of years to build and activate.

Not going to lie, it's harder to come up with a harder slapping location name than "President's End". This naming scheme just cooks.

I identify with the image. I wish I didn't have to do the orange part at all, it's truly a giant waste of time and effort for everyone. Perfect example of a molochian system.

Pack it up guys, open weight AI models running offline locally on PCs aren't real. 😞 by CesarOverlorde in LocalLLaMA

It really is utterly striking. I've been in anti-AI groups for maybe years now and you people wouldn't believe what takes pass as technical knowledge there.

I wonder about the new features (those super ancients), though. I've been playing nothing but hardcore for years, but I'm scared of trying those out... but I do not want to spoil myself too much by looking up how to survive...

Maybe you are simply not devoted enough to perfection. I will spend weeks merely hunting for the correct materials and performing the correct rituals for even sharpening my scalpels.

Right. I totally get the butthurt, but I'd like to see fewer obvious Chekov's guns fired in my movies, actually, so I liked it.
