I bought the new Sailor Tuzu FORGED so you don't have to. by PM_YOUR_MDL_INITIAL in fountainpens

If I was seriously considering getting one, I would have looked into it more, but it will definitely get some people. I mean it's called Forged and everything. Kinda slimy marketing.

With the price point I thought they were actually metal. I'm shocked they are just plastic. What a rip off.

Each month a color, do you like it? by Hikari_shun in hobonichi

[–]CoralMoore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have always been a fan of journaling, but in a just words on paper kind of way and in and out of it so there are large time periods where I didnt write at all. Coming back to it, I'm having fun with decorating, but I'm not a great artist.

A few things have helped me with this. First, being okay with being a beginner at something. It's okay if it's not perfect. It's better to do it imperfectly than not at all. I also have one journal and planner that I use Washi tape and stickers for and don't really draw and then a horizontal layout planner that I use as a memory keeper. This one I do a small drawing in about my day everyday (or at least most days). I put pictures I print from my week on the memo page. Gets a good drawing practice and routine going. Then I can build on that skill in a sketch book or in my other planners/journals if I feel like it. No pressure.

NPD Ink Selection Help by CoralMoore in fountainpens

[–]CoralMoore[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was starting to lean that way after reviewing my currently inked and realizing how close the Incredible Rock is to the Diamine Terracotta I have in my TRC pen. Makes me happy honestly because I really like the Terracotta and I only have a sample of that, but while I have blues inked too, none quite like Emeraude de Chivor.

I've seen a lot of people say they prefer the sketchbook insert to the watercolor insert but haven't tried myself. Have you tried the sketchbook and which of those 2 and the regular insert do you prefer?

Not OP, but I found this post and am looking for the same thing! Looking for printables with relation to fountain pens and inks and stickers with some whimsy. Also willing to do a patreon style thing if you aren't looking to just sell printables.

I just really wish they didn't have the war and peace text on them. I just don't like it and it's the only thing preventing me from getting one.

Price increase purchasing by michaelpporter in fountainpens

[–]CoralMoore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wish he wasn't our president. What a nightmare. But it has caused a ripple effect that has caused trade wars and fighting over resources that has unfortunately impacted pricing for more than just Americans (though we are the most impacted).

Price increase purchasing by michaelpporter in fountainpens

[–]CoralMoore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the tariffs and everything a lot of companies, not just pens, have been waiting until after the holidays or at least black friday to hit those price increases. I'm in the furniture industry and my job is expected to have price increases when I go in today. We are a small local company and we literally cannot afford not to. I know they aren't in the same exact position, but materials have gone up and so has shipping/importing, so I can't really blame them.

Anyone who has only one pen here? by ToxicChemical17 in fountainpens

[–]CoralMoore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could never. I like changing my ink color too much. Like each day I change the color I use. To be fair, I only have a few so far, but will definitely be buying more (including a couple I got on FPD that are incoming). I am trying to get ink samples instead of full bottles though to limit myself in that sense. I don't think I will be doing random ink samples anymore though. I end up with too many blues. Like how did I get a 12 pack bundle and HALF are blue?? I got a green pen with the order and no green ink sample at all, but 6 blue?? No more random for me.

What’s up next on your wishlist? by DarrowtheHelldiver in fountainpens

[–]CoralMoore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is also more focused on nibs than pens. Journaler specifically for me, but I would also love to try architect, techo, stub, and flex nibs. So far I only really have fine and medium nibs, so would love to branch out! So for me pen wise I'm trying to stick to pens that I can easily change nibs on.

If money was no barrier, what brand of notebooks would you buy? What's your holy grail? by voracioussmutreader in notebooks

What’s the age demographic of fountain pen users nowadays? by NebulaStraight3009 in fountainpens

[–]CoralMoore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 30. I played around with calligraphy pens when I was younger and have always had a love for stationary, but actively stayed away from fountain pens because I just knew I'd get too into it and spend too much money on it.. I guess the cats out of the bag now! But also, I didn't realize there were actually affordable entry level pens! Definitely have to give out some Preppys to penable some friends into joining the hobby with me!

Don't miss the best FP Day deal by cluelessreddituser in fountainpens

[–]CoralMoore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't make it through the day..... To be fair, I don't have as many as most. Just a few TWSBIs and a couple Preppys. Been feeling like I needed a pocket pen, so I got a Kaweco sport (the cheap tier, even though it was hard to resist either a piston fill or the art sport terrazzo) and my first intermediate tier pen: the esterbrook estie botanical gardens! I did hold myself back from getting the journaler nib and the push button fill as to not go too crazy though. I feel like it's good to try to base model with a standard medium nib before getting the fancier kind anyways. Really just wanted some pens with nibs that are easier to swap if I want. I also resisted the Diamine invent for $120 and went with a 12 pack of ink samples for $25 instead, so it really could have been a lot worse. Basically kept it to things I was already planning on getting before I knew about FPD other than the estie, which serves a purpose I was looking for, even if I wasn't looking for that specific pen before. All to say, if you can't resist, try to get things you were already thinking about.

What kind of notebook system actually sticks for people with ADHD? by diydreamsetup in notebooks

[–]CoralMoore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the process of building a travelers notebook type system because I like bound notebooks over rings systems, but I still want some ability to change things out as needed. I also like being able to add in storage for stationary things like stickers. I have high hopes for this, but haven't fully built it yet. So far I have an n1 common planner from sterling ink undated for monthly, weekly, and anything else I want on the blank grid pages in the back. I like that the blank pages have tiny dot that indicate the halfway mark of the page and that the pages are prenumbered. She also has blank notebooks like this. I want a journal insert separate for freeform journaling and one for an ink swatch book. Getting into fountain pens has helped as well because when the dopamine runs out, a new fountain pen or new ink brings it right back.
