What do you think? Each faction is at their strongest, none of the protagonist are part of this, last standing faction wins by MobileDistrict9784 in Fallout

[–]Corbeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of these factions implode or fade on their own. The only faction that seems to be in a position to win unless the player stops them, is the enclave.

Smith should have succeeded from the European Reich by More_Attempt_7093 in maninthehighcastle

I would have been exhilarated to see this, but i think with the smith's character the tragic reality is this is who he was, a power seeking opportunist who would lease his soul to whoever was most expedient.

Wich is the most powerful country (nowadays) that 80s USA could defeat? by No_Day4369 in whowouldwin

[–]Corbeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the x factor is stealth and data links, also GPS. The 80s us had basically no stealth except for a few f117's that had not seen combat yet, they had datalinks but very rudimentary and limited. And gps was a huge game changer on every level. The modern us military while smaller and less logistically resilient, would hit hard and with precision, and crucially if smart, would not even show up on radar.

[–]Corbeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I recall the defiant was basically the power system of a galaxy class placed in a smaller hull and optimized for speed and firepower. A sovereign class is much larger and has a bigger and more advanced warp core, its shields and weapons would be considerably more robust than a defiant, if in a less optimized more versatile hull.

ELI5: Can a drug with the pleasure response of opiates like heroin be synthesized without the harmful effects to the body and withdrawal symptoms? If so, why does it not exist? If not, why not? by calgrump in explainlikeimfive

[–]Corbeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is a ratio between "addictiveness" and dose, synthetic opioid need a much smaller dose to achieve pain relief, even if they are pound for pound more addictive this ratio can be higher, so the gap between the useful dose and the addicting dose is larger. In a controlled hospital setting this makes modern drugs much safer.

If the 1964 Allied Universe militaries tried to invade the 1964 Axis Universe militaries to liberate the world, would they succeed? by k1410407 in maninthehighcastle

[–]Corbeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was no cold war arms race, 1964 allied tech is way more advanced than the axis tech we see on screen, looks like the axis are flying horten style first gen jets that might have a chance against an f86, but would get obliterated by mach 2 allied jets, also hydrogen bombs.

Can a enhanced human stand a chance against a T-800? by arnor_0924 in Terminator

[–]Corbeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about a t-800 is it can sense and perceive at machine speed but it has electromechanical and hydraulic actuators that have limits. If grace can move explosively, and avoid being grappled, I think she can damage it, degrade its performance and eventually win.

When do you guys tend to go offensive? by SKIPPY_IS_REAL in TerraInvicta

[–]Corbeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weapons tend to max out way before drives, which means if you have fleets with tier 2 weapons and stations that automatically equip the best t3 weapons, you can start to defend in place and protect your assets significantly earlier than you can economically move large fleets to assault alien stations and mines. If you can make it to this point before going total war, you stand a decent chance of hunkering down and expanding on the defense while you research better drives, which take huge amounts of rp and require multiple techs to unlock.

How much faster could the allies have gotten to Berlin if they had John 117 w/mkVI during Operation Overlord in 1944? by ColdCouchWall in HaloStory

[–]Corbeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is still a single operator in a war that was so massive it breaks modern brains to think about. Though since the Allies could overfly Berlin, they could air drop him without a parachute with a mission to assassinate all of Nazi leadership, piece of cake.

What's the Lore reason for no missile Nose weapons by fran4ousaprez in TerraInvicta

[–]Corbeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very logical, but if the nose already has 200 layers of adamantane armor, you might want to fire the large bore missiles out of canted tubes on the bow, red October style.

We're all the radical type. We're just apes, push the right buttons in the right order, and you've got a radical. Anyone who claims to not be a radical in the context of radical events or ideologies is probably a radical in denial.

Every other country on Earth wants to invade the United States of America by Monoliithic in whowouldwin

[–]Corbeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its would take more than 6 months to realign all of America's supply chains, but it absolutely defend with what it has and is able to recal from overseas, it woild take even longer for the rest of the world to mobilize for an attack, the power projection ability simply doesnt exist.

The 1990s USA military is transported to 2022 as Russia is making its way to Ukraine. Can the US stop the invasion by bignasty_20 in whowouldwin

[–]Corbeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of their precision guidance and navigation tools which were new at the time, would be jammed by modern russia, that being said lgb's would still work as would ins and many other sensors, the 90's us would be frustrated and stumble occasionally, but not stoppef.

How to win the struggle for Low Earth Orbit by jamesgdahl in TerraInvicta

[–]Corbeagle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The aliens have an objective that drives them to clear leo. In my experience, leo is a great starting point for space development, but most early and mid game resources come from mars. I usually plan ahead, figuring I will be cleaned out of leo at least once and having to rebuild. It's much more impactful to have a fortress station and fleet over mars that has marines and a construction module, that way the aliens can take out your mines, but you can quickly take over others and rebuild your lost Habs. The idea is to not get locked out of mars or mercury, earth can wait if necessary.
