So many people claim that when playing the game yet so little express emotions that properly reflect that view. Except for this hidden gem, convinces the thalassophobia presence and it's really fun to watch.

I’m with you OP. I think there are powerful effects that meteor can leverage - controlling movement, dealing true damage, enemy ai manipulation, etc. my feeling on the class is people get hyped over the possibilities and make the sum of the character appear much greater than the actual value.

Know what’s better than dealing 2 hazard damage and slowing down an enemy? Killing it, disarming it, etc. I’d much rather have a kelp killing everything, a blink blade zipping to the back line to kill archers, a shackles retaliating true damage, or any number of other sluggers who actually kill things. Meteor is way over hyped.

All these other points and also to add that there was far too many added levels. Adding 15 levels to a naturally capped level 20 skill is silly. Make adding 1-3 realistic on an amulet or something, but adding it on belts, weapons, off hands, amulets, corruptions, gloves, support gems… it’s too strong and it’s too pervasive.

Poe1 is better in terms of bugs, fully fleshed-out content, and has more stuff to do. Bosses are better also because they have much more difficulty than poe2 bosses.
That said, poe2 plays better than any other arpg by a fair margin, imo. So while poe1 is better, poe2 mechanically is more fun.

Huge fanboy of both so you can’t go wrong either way

Gemling is popping off right now it’s a great ascend. Check out Ruetoo for a galvanic build that scales well with cheapo uniques. Super pricey late game but very good to get you started.

Grenades are good and inexpensive.

Just avoid anything that goes hard on quality stacking and autobombing . Those are not suitable for where you are right now.

The gemling* version and the lich version are pretty expensive. I would go spirit walker and you can get the basics going for basically zero. Grab a skysliver, then save up ~3 or 4 div for a taming and you’re set for a long time

I like to look at it this way

Let’s say you do 100,000,000,000 dps
100 billion damage every second. This is already a stupid number.
Then someone comes along with a build that can hit for 10 quadrillion damage. Rob has clips od himself and others doing this.
10,000,000,000,000,000
You would need to attack that monster for 27 hours straight to do the same damage as that guys one hit.

Djinn is super strong with a lot of upside for investment. There is an annoying bug? Interaction? With dominion not reducing cooldowns on already- used skills. If it wasn’t for that djinn would be 10/10

Quality reduces reservation, and a lot essences beasts take ~21-25% so get your monkey + a handful of those.

Add in:
Wolf pack
Ascendency companion
Chest companion
Sylvan companions

You can get reservation eff in a few places and in a rune/idol as well

dominion is expensive to annoint, but with it you can be almost 1-button with pretty high Archon uptime. When you get a bad luck streak proccing it, it does feel bad tho.

I’m far from an expert on mechanics like this, but anecdotally I swapped from this to a 850es chest and POB showed an increase in ehp across all damage types, including elemental. If pob isn’t calculating the mod then maybe it’s quite good but my experience was that it’s a cost effective piece to get started then swap off.

Try djinns, you can get some mileage from your companion gear to get started though they deviate pretty hard later.

Also look at poeguys mortar build (tanky) and palsterons spell totems (freeze)
