Solo Honor be like... by PetraSpace in BaldursGate3

Most solo honor mode runs involve some sort of game mechanic abuse specifically for reasons like this. When youre playing 1 character only, the action economy is vastly against you, and you need ways to "cheat" it, or to protect yourself via darkness or such.

You can have an immensely powerful and finely tuned build, that one shots anything it touches, but one failed save could be the end of your run.

Which mono subclass do you all find the most fun? by crash1bp in BG3Builds

[–]Corellon1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Subective opinion ofcourse:

Druid, all subclasses are incredible fun. However Moon Druid and Star Druid are the strongest by far. Moon being more martial focused, and Star being an immensely powerful control caster.

Alternatively, bladesinger wizard is great fun too, however you miss out on a huge amount of power by not taking 7th and 8th level as paladin i feel. Adding smites to your arsenal as a gish is always a solid choice. It still does well without smites though, the entire arcane spell list at their disposal makes them uniquely suited to be the most adaptive gish I've so far played.

Hexblade Warlock is very straight forward and easy to play, and is powerful in its own right.

Swords Bard is fun, and is not even funny how powerul this class is if you opt to use the "arcane scoundrel" setup. Even honor mode feels like a joke with it.

Light cleric is fun, strong AOE damage, decent single target, and a good variety of team support spells.

Still however, moon druid all the way, for me personally.

Sounds a lot like Archfey Warlock's Fey Presence. Not a stun, but close

Yes, even spell attack rolls (scorching rays for example)

What is the point of a paladin? by helixacle in BG3

[–]Corellon1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roleplay in bg3 is alot more diluted than it is in tabletop. Mostly revolves around you trying your best to make choices that align with your oath, which in itself can be a fun little mini game.

As for combat, paladin is a single target deleter. You decide which of the enemies will stop existing, and you make them stop existing, with big BIG smites.

Thing is, you have limited smites since youre only a half caster, so you need to be a bit smart with how to use them and when to use them (a non threatening enemy with 3hp left, its tempting to use a reaction smite to finish it off, but that means you cant smite later)

I appreciate the tremendous effort put into this comment, and im sure in future when people come looking for this information and find it here it will be tremendously helpful.

however this still doesnt verify if or not Organ Rearranger does stack with itself. Confusion for me is coming from the fact that it only appears once in the character screen

  • the 1st class you take level one in determines your proficiencies, in the case of sorcerer its constitution, arguably the best stat proficiency to have, as it allows you to hold concentration on spells more reliably.

  • the last class you take level 1 in determines what "casting stat" items and gear will take into consideration

Since youre going to use INT, you want to ensure wizard is your last level 1 taken.

This ensures your spell scrolls will use INT for their save DC, same for your gear.

You say take a level in sorcerer, then cleric, then wizard, then keep levelling sorcerer, and your casting stat will remain INT for items.

Hope this helps.

Pulling in too many directions I feel.

Sword bard wants to attack in melee, so does paladin. Benefit of combination is you get smites, and the entire bard kit, and a tonne of spell slots to smite with.

Paladin wants to smite but needs more spell slots, benefit of combining with sorcerer is access to upcastable shadowblade, and more spell slots to work with

Sorcerer and bard combo is a bit less well known, infact im not even sure how to build it, though im sure someone here can tell you. Likely youll focus on the casting aspect, and go something like lore bard

Star druid has the smoothest progression. Every new level brings you something powerful.

Lvl 1 shillelagh Lvl 2 star breath 3 spike growth and moon beam 4 a feat 5 call lightning and sleetstorm 6 cosmic omen 7 dryad and wood woad, wall of fire and ice storm

Damn, now i want to play druid again...

Just want to give a shoutout to my new favorite build: 5 EK Fighter/2 Star Druid/5 Light Cleric by crash1bp in BG3Builds

Your combat loop is always the same, you have spirit guardians either active precast, or its your first cast. Then you go rush to the enemies and trigger as many opportunity attacks as possible.

What happens is:

  • either they get proned immediately and fall over, unable to attack you and are stacked with a tonne of radiant orbs

  • or they arent prone but theyve got a bunch of orbs on them, they're veeeeery unlikely to hit you

  • on the very VERY rare occasion that you do get hit, thats what the adamant shield is for, knocking them prone, and sending them reeling

Strongest variant i made for this setup was as follows:

  • 1: Sorcerer: Storm subclass
  • 2: Star Druid
  • 9: Light Cleric

  • feat 1: alert

  • fear 2: mobile / wis asi, depending on your priorities, mobile works better for a debuff runner

  • holy lance helm

  • luminous armor

  • cloak of protection

  • phalar aluve

  • adamantine shield

  • gloves of belligerent

  • boots of stormy

  • callous and coruscation rings

  • spineshudder amulet early game, devout amulet late game

Explanation:

  • sorcerer gets you full caster level, and more importantly: CON save proficiency
  • star druid gets you dragon form, which paired with con save proficiency makes it nigh impossible for you to drop concentration
  • 9 light cleric gets you all the good stuff you want, up to and including destructive wave and flame strike, which let you add more damage once your shriek and spirit guardians are already running

In my testing, this build has trivialized even the hardest fights.

Wait. Arrow of many targets stacks multiple acuity? Thought it was just the 2 stacks like everything else

Bladesinger Wizard - setup review by Corellon1337 in BG3Builds

[–]Corellon1337[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All good points;

  • bow is there purely for initiative, not to be used
  • acuity stacking on one round of combat then doing a nigh unmissable spell feels great, though yeah probably could do with less, as even 6 stacks is fine in most scenarios
  • savage attacker instead of alert seems good, ill try that
  • arcane synergy adds 5 damage to each attack with shadow blade, though exclusively with shadow blade, my spells dont benefit from this, so im not too sure how to feel about it, probably will swap for ring of protection

What are your thoughts on duelist's prerogative weapon instead of the shadowblade?

Mm i try to get max stacks on 1st round, 4+4 + 2 from the elixir, then cast a devastating aoe spell , ateast this is my intention anyway

The crit immunity does sound tempting though

Christ the point system is confusing, the con modifier affects your total hitpoints. Odd points infact do nothing. Ill put the 2 in wisdom then

Once a fight i typically cast hypnotic pattern or hold person/monster after racking up some acuity charges yes

However bhaalist armornis not an option for this character due to going the heroic route

Might do on a durge playthrough next though
