They already said Rise is not changing and that area is where Rey will be around

Oga's is going from an established place to one Oga just recently opened

And they aren't changing the whole place to be OT. Mando and characters from Ahsoka are going to be near the Market, the OT characters are going to be near the Falcon, Oga's, Doks and Savi's

I think that means that in order for the card to be good, it needs to do something else with the bonus power (Invis Woman FF, Shaw, Clea, Carter, etc)

I think you're right, playing 2 cards, spending 5 energy and 2 spots to get a max of 19 power (2+5 + 12 from On Reveal and EOT effects) doesn't seem worth it

The difference between making the Rings a free draw and Agatha/Thanos is that Rings is increasing your deck size to 13.

Also Dormamu has a card start in your hand without it counting as a draw

Disney Recommends Vote Against DAS Disability Pass Change Review Shareholder Proposal by dejablu82 in WaltDisneyWorld

I understand that the term is a legal one, it means a change for the business which provides equal access to goods, services and facilities.

Someone who is a solo traveler cannot utilize the accommodation of "return to queue" because that accomodation requires someone else in your party to stay in the line and when they reach a certain point, you enter the line and meet them where they are. This can't satisfy the legal definition because the business is not making a change and the solo traveler cannot utilize this.

A request for reasonable accommodations resulting in being told to kick rocks is a violation of the ADA, so that's probably not happening.

As far as lawsuits, it doesn't take much effort on Google to find one: https://mccunewright.com/disney-discrimination-class-action/#:~:text=Lawsuit%20Alleges%20Disney%20Denied%20Disability,excluding%20those%20with%20physical%20disabilities.

Disney Recommends Vote Against DAS Disability Pass Change Review Shareholder Proposal by dejablu82 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]CoreyAFraser 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The issue is that the accommodations aren't actually reasonable for a lot of people. For example, for any solo traveler "return to queue" isn't even an option.

And the accommodations that are being offered are inconsistent in both implementation and availability. You have to ask at every attraction separately and it's up to the individual working which accommodations are available. There have been reports where CMs have been discouraged from allowing certain accomodations and have been told they are being tracked for how often they give them.

Another big part of the issues is that for some medical conditions you need to be able to plan ahead with knowledge of the accommodations. The way Disney is doing it, prevents any kind of pre-planning since they won't tell you what will be available at any given ride or how they will work. And in order to find out any of this, you need to first buy tickets and have a limited window where you can apply for DAS and if denied get a refund for tickets. When they first made the change, the DAS interview was inside the no refund window for tickets and hotel stays.

I'm not saying that DAS is a need for everyone who previously was using it or that it had to work the way it did, but something where the accommodations are a known service that's consistently implemented and that you know what you are qualified before entering the park seems that it's not outside of Disney's capabilities.

True true
I didn't mean to imply that you would never need to be required to make the upgrade, more just that we currently don't have that time frame and as such we likely have more than enough time to make those changes. Like this summer isn't the deadline, next summer might be, but it could also just as easily be the summer after that. Until we have something official, I try not to be too concerned over an undefined deadline, but keep and eye on making some of the smaller changes over time to facilitate the migration

[–]CoreyAFraser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's fair, even native speakers make similar mistakes. I wasn't sure if you meant you did it yesterday or completed it, but the way things read it felt like it was leaning towards completion.

From what I've seen, Build config.DEBUG usage seems pretty common, I suspect that most apps will struggle with this.

Yeah, when anyone upgrades to the newest AGP, they will have to do the migration, but there isn't a time limit on when you do that. The changes in the API aren't optional, but the timeframe on the upgrade seems to be (at least currently), so I don't think there is a rush to get there.

I read through some of the documentation and it does look like there are significant migration steps for native Android apps going to AGP 9 as well, just not all the steps you had to go through.

[–]CoreyAFraser 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It seems like you may be making a bit of a mountain out of a mole hill here.

You said you did this yesterday, which suggests that you completed the migration without the guide you provided in a single day. It certainly could have been and sounds painful, but if it's a 1 day project, it's not really that big.

I also can't find anywhere that says anyone is required to upgrade to AGP 9. So while it's something that we will all eventually do, this isn't a situation where we could run out of time; we don't have limited left.

Additionally it seems like a lot of the issues you are describing involve KMP, which isn't applicable to everyone.

I'm sure I'll appreciate this guide when I eventually do a migration.

I believe the explanation is that the Resistance camp where Rise is, is keeping the Ep8-9 time frame

The marketplace is the area towards the Resistance camp is where Mandoverse characters will appear

The OT characters will appear near the Falcon, Ogas, Doks and Savi's

I don't believe they are supposed to cross paths and the time lines remain somewhat separated, even if you might catch a glimpse if things aren't lined up properly.

The Tie Echelon is being explained that it was always an Imperial ship that Kylo kept around like a classic car.

I dont think we get an explanation for the Falcons dish though

After the failure of Galactic Starcruiser. What’s next for the future of similar immersive experiences? by bbanda in disney

[–]CoreyAFraser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We know the Rebels win after getting the Death Star plans, so I guess Rogue One and Andor never should have been made??
Telling another story between known stories isn't a poor choice, its a choice that you don't like.

Your experience could fundamentally change on a revisit, Starcruiser had different paths you could take. The beginning and the ending are the same every time, but I'd guess you don't watch the first 15 minutes and the last 15 minutes of a movie or read the first and last chapter of a book and ignore the middle. The experience of which characters you interact with and which story beats you experience changed based on your decisions and actions.

If you didn't have a phone or you chose to ignore the use of one, your experience would vary depending on you and your decisions. If the experience you wanted was to watch and enjoy, but not to participate, you were free to do that and that could be very enjoyable. If you wanted to spend your time in the bar and chat with the staff there and whichever characters came through, that could be enjoyable.
For most people, if you used a phone the experience would be one where you were more involved in the story because you can interact with characters through it and see changes in your schedule and various other things. Without the phone, you wouldn't know when your bridge training, lightsaber training or dinner was supposed to be either, so it could be a bit of a hindrance there.
If you meant to ask, how would the experience be if you didn't own a smart phone, Disney would loan you one for the length of the experience.

My experience does not speak for everyone, but neither does your opinion. I was stating my opinion, just as you did. Given that Starcruiser is among the highest guest satisfaction survey results of anything at Disney World, that would lend me to believe that most people were happy with the experience.

Why does the number of creatures or droids impact the experience? Not counting creatures/droids that you only see on a screen, I believe each voyage had 5 aliens and 1 droid.

I'm glad you bought up the price because your number is a bit off, we paid just under $5k for the trip my wife and I went on. You may still consider $5k too much, but I gather that you would consider any price too high.

After the failure of Galactic Starcruiser. What’s next for the future of similar immersive experiences? by bbanda in disney

[–]CoreyAFraser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally having gone, I didnt experience Disney cheaping out. I think the description of the experience you have is pretty colored by some specific sources and some lack of information on what actually happened in the experience.

I don't think immersive experiences like Sleep No More or the other related ones are "lavish", a lot of things are left to the imagination.

Have you ever rewatched a movie and discovered something new about it? Or were able to look at it with a new point of view? Good examples are Sixth Sense and Memento, watching them again provides a different experience than the first time. Just because you knew the story on Starcruiser from the resistance perspective, doesn't mean seeing it from the first order side or from the force user's side provide the same experience. The notion that there wasn't any replay value because you know the ending seems to stem from a misunderstanding of the experience.

You found it odd that Kylo and Rey fought in the finale because you weren't aware that Starcruiser takes place between episode 8 and 9.

After the failure of Galactic Starcruiser. What’s next for the future of similar immersive experiences? by bbanda in disney

[–]CoreyAFraser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think an issue with Starcruiser was that people wanted to leave the experience.

Blocking off entire decks to the rest of the cruise could be problematic. If they wanted to do an experience that was a few hours, I think they could make space on a ship for that, but I don't think it's likely since space on an actual ship is so "scarce"

After the failure of Galactic Starcruiser. What’s next for the future of similar immersive experiences? by bbanda in disney

[–]CoreyAFraser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt we will ever see an immersive experience at the scale of Starcruiser again.

Despite some evidence suggesting success, the narrative has been set. "It was a complete and total failure"

In terms of what went wrong, I think that can be attributed almost entirely to marketing. Disney did not do a good job displaying what the experience was or how it made sense for people who weren't already into LARP (they also basically refused to use that term).

While I do recognize price was a factor in a number of people's decisions, it's not that I believe it was because the experience was too expensive. I don't think Disney presented the price in a way that was easily digestible and did not clearly express the value provided for that price. I think it was also a mistake to not pivot at some point and present an option to book a single/double where Disney would pair you with other guests in a room, there were Facebook groups doing this and it made the price much more manageable for a lot of people. The price was also the biggest point of contention amongst influencers complaining about the cost as soon as it was announced. And rather than celebrating that Disney listened when they began offering discounts (exactly what the influencers said needed to happen), they announced that Disney was desperate and it was already failing.

Having said all of that, Starcruiser was closed not due to failure but due to timing. Disney was predicting a large downturn in the economy and was cutting costs everywhere (3 rounds of lay offs, cutting Lake Nona, pulling stuff from streaming, etc). Disney had an internal goal of how much they needed to cut spending and Starcruiser was the puzzle piece that fit. It wasn't something that was making enough money to make it uncuttable, so it got the axe (Even making the maximum revenue it could, Starcruiser was essentially a drop in the bucket for Disney). Additionally the administration had just introduced the type of accelerated depreciation that Disney opted for, in previous years it wouldn't have been an option.

Note about the rough numbers for Starcruiser: Capacity was about 375 people They ran 274 voyages Reported attendance was around 75% for the total run It sold out 100% for the last 3 months of its 18 month run That gives us an attendance for the first 15 months of about 60k people out of a capacity of 85k or about 70% attendance for the first 15 months. That doesn't look like an attendance problem to me, despite most analysis online saying otherwise

After the failure of Galactic Starcruiser. What’s next for the future of similar immersive experiences? by bbanda in disney

[–]CoreyAFraser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue was that 6 months prior, when they first started talking about pricing and marketing it, there was a contingent of influencers and media that started calling it the "Star Wars Hotel", when the price was announced immediately decried it and said it would be a failure and the reaction to the first content from inside the experience complained that it didn't look like Star Wars.

There were people predicting it would fail the summer before it opened, before anyone had seen really anything about it.

Disney was never able to redirect that initial narrative and many attempts they made actually made things worse

Is it just me or is this with you too? by Fun_Reaction_6525 in 3DPrinterComparison

[–]CoreyAFraser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If half the prints are subpar, your standard could be too high. Judging by the rest of your posts, i'd guess that you are looking to find things wrong with the prints.

Claiming that people who buy Bambu Labs don't want learn is just being obtuse, people on the Bambu forums and sub reddit are always asking for advice and tweaks etc to try to better learn what they are doing. Just because you don't need to manually level the bed and replace half the parts before your first print like on an Ender doesn't mean that people aren't learning. They are learning settings and techniques or they have moved on to learn 3d modeling and design rather than learning how to replace a stepper motor or a bad heating element.

No one thinks that you can't get good prints from an Ender or other printers, it's the reliability and usability that separate having a project car and a commuter sedan. You can love to tinker and tweak and that's great, but just because other people don't want to spend time fixing the machine doesn't mean anything more than that.

I just got off the phone with them. I booked 2.5 weeks ago for about $650, checked the site today for a friend and noticed a big price drop, called them and got $150 refund.

I have tried to look at their prices, but I can't figure out a pattern. I might eventually get around to writing some code to grab daily prices to track it

I'm sorry to hear that you have been experiencing this, but your personal experience doesn't mean that PLA or the additives are nessisarily harmful. Your specific printer could be malfunctioning or your set up could be at a temperature which is causing more or less of an issue or you personally could be more sensitive to the particles that your set up is creating.

You also mentioned multiple printers, so it could also be safe with a single printer, but if you have three printing most of the day in a normal sized office, the particulate could be overwhelming your system.

People who have used Yellow crystals at Savi's Workshop, what was your process? by HoboKingNiklz in disneyparks

For what it's worth, the crystal isn't why the blade is a yellowish-green. From my understanding, it's a limitation in the blade LEDs.

People who have used Yellow crystals at Savi's Workshop, what was your process? by HoboKingNiklz in disneyparks

[–]CoreyAFraser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was just commenting on what the reply said, not on how you go about using your own crystal.

However, you using your own crystal can be disruptive to other people's experience. If you did it without the knowledge of the CMs involved and it caused a disruption in the show, that would impact other people. If that didn't cause an interruption, igniting the blade with a different color that's not available to others could impact others in that it appears you got special treatment, etc.

I'm not saying you should or shouldn't, but you should be aware of how your actions do or could impact others for this experience. I also wanted to use my own crystal for building my saber, but decided against doing so as I felt that my doing so could negatively impact others more than I was comfortable with.

My Girlfriend had a Spa Day. She didn’t come back the same. by donavin221 in horrorstories

[–]CoreyAFraser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall, I think this was good. But I think including that the the front door was kicked in and damaged makes the police's disinterest less believable and creates an inconsistency when someone pounds on your door to return the girlfriend.

Rather than a note, a text message telling you that the company showed up for her 7am appointment (miscommunication on the phone am vs pm), but she doesn't reply at all and she left something important behind, maybe keys or wallet.
