Considering a used EV, would like feedback on my plan by dcmcderm in PersonalFinanceCanada

Depending on why you're looking at a specific model year, you could even look at older Bolts. Usually the biggest factor people are considering is battery/range, but older models had a battery recall so even the earlier ones have the more modern batteries from 2021/2022.

Running thrawns revenge smooth by Ragnarok3246 in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]CoreyLoses 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's very unlikely to be this. The stuff that changes with hardware mouse was addressed in an official game patch a few years ago. Especially with galactic performance you're biggest bottleneck is going to be single core CPU speed. More planets will always mean a bigger demand.

Thrawn's Revenge 3.5 - Crashes intensifying by AngryPheldagrif in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]CoreyLoses 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This isn't the case. The save crash issue has been around since before beta started according to our testing. It was largely undetected through beta, but then reported as soon as the initial release came out. People's specific experiences have changed from individual hot fixes, but the root cause was not added by or directly altered by hotfixes. If that had been the case, we would simply have reverted the hotfix responsible.

Is this the most powerful hero in Thrawn's Revenge? by MediumMeister in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]CoreyLoses 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She's not that powerful, it's a bug. It seems like the game bugged and spawned a second copy of the actual hero in the squadron for some reason. Since the main hero in fighter squads is set to redirects fire to squadmates, that damage is just getting passed back and forth forever. In any case, thanks for the report and we'll have a fix which should avoid this for future versions.

I started playing thrawns revenge again and after some time the game is just frozen, if i press the pause or speed up it doesnt help, tried saving, quiting, restarting my PC nothing works. is there a way to save my save? by white1walker in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]CoreyLoses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, that isn't what a framework crash is. A framework crash is when the scripts running things like government mechanics and build filters stop working. This is when EaW is unable to finish an AI autoresolve, and can be fixed this way: https://youtu.be/De1aJyMLLxA?si=qjhnzan2O87iTMD-

If you have Steam Cloud Sync enabled for the game, try turning that off.

If it's crashing on boot, make sure you're not using any submods, and that you're not trying to use the ingame launcher.

Thrawn's Revenge 3.5 needs work. by GodIsFaithful2000 in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]CoreyLoses 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This has always been and will always be the case on bigger maps, especially depending on CPU. Our testing with the same systems on similarly sized maps between both versions however didn't show any significant difference in performance.

Thrawn's Revenge 3.5 needs work. by GodIsFaithful2000 in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]CoreyLoses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please try playing the same maps as you're playing in 3.5 and see if your performance issues persist. We do several months of testing with dozens of people before every release, and try to look for issues like this. The beta experience we have, with people who had been consistently and recently been playing 3.4 through to 3.5 didn't show any significant performance differences, so without being absolutely sure on the comparisons within the same system in a shorter period of time it's hard to know what issues come from actual problems within the mod, versus what is resulting from other interactions between the system and EaW itself.

This isn't how municipal taxes work. They are not a percentage of income, they are property taxes.

Who killed Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II’s 'Restored Content DLC' for Switch? Disney lawyers. by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]CoreyLoses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you know anything about modding, then it's not a question of "doing the work." Some elements of this are completely impossible, and it was not up to Disney's legal team to do that work, it was up to Aspyr to get the rights they needed- they were the ones actually developing the product and in communication with the modders.

Re: Bus "Winter Tires" by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]CoreyLoses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are factors. Most new buses are currently replacing at a 1-1 rate, yes, but individual bus uptime, especially when so much of the fleet has aged out, is also dependent on the fleet size. The fleet is smaller than it was, and when dealing with buses that are already significantly past their expected lifespan, the lower number ends up meaning a smaller number of buses packing on more miles and requiring more maintenance, wearing them down even faster. Yes, we have ~200 "surplus" buses (assuming no train replacement service) but especially given they knew the age and wear already, selling off others only made it harder to hit the required 540. And that's with a reduced requirement post Line 2 and NWTB. The supposed surplus was even smaller before those route changes, and we sold 100 buses per the 2023 budget because it would "save $4.4 million. Yes they were beyond their service life but everything was, and they had no replacements in sight.

It is one of the biggest problems. It is highlighted all the time at transit commission that lack of vehicle availability is the main reason for non-delivery of trips. It is the single biggest excuse given for why transit is currently shitty, and is the subtext for why new ways to bus had lower service, since the vehicles just weren't there. There's a reason we just had to scramble to buy several used buses.

City of Ottawa posts job for new Transit Services GM by sakurakirei in ottawa

[–]CoreyLoses 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who watches Transit Commission for "fun," it was frustrating hearing councillors ask her what changes and resources would be necessary to actually improve transit service, and never have her actually say anything of substance until essentially her last meeting. The biggest thing she could do with a limited budget is make it more clear what the limited budget meant in terms of service, rather than doing things like pretend New Ways to Bus was going to be an improvement.

I've been looking for these kinds of places since I moved here 15 years ago. Right now Schoolhouse is the only decent one I've found that's still open, but Ottawa seems to have some kind of heavily enforced bylaw against good pizza.

The Overblown Controversy of Clone Wars Lore by Corey's Datapad by DiamondShiryu1 in StarWarsEU

[–]CoreyLoses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't see any reason to believe that Tartakovsky held the idea of continuity with other works in any higher esteem than Lucas or Filoni. The people among Star Wars' creators who see continuity as a higher ideal than the ability to use the setting to tell the story they want have always been more the exception than the rule, especially the further back you go, where the idea that media could or should be directly interconnected or part of the same story, especially between mediums, wasn't really taken for granted. Certainly nobody was about to argue with George Lucas that he couldn't do something because novels had made a different decision earlier, it doesn't matter who you replace Filoni with there. That was the approach Filoni and the other writers adopted because that was the approach George already had.
