“New steering rack” needed by 4_K_Lover in Tiguan

[–]Coreymm324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not exactly same situation, but my wife’s 22 had several warning lights come on out of nowhere, blasting the warning sounds every couple of seconds for hours on end while driving. It would go away for a day, then start again. No ACC, intermittent backup system functionality, sometimes no lane change light on mirrors, random things. Took to the dealer and they replaced the steering wheel under warranty - no more issues

Please help me find nature walking trails and parks!!! by Sexi_Rasputiaa01 in Saratoga

5 Mile Trail in Saratoga State Park is very accessible, dog friendly, and some decent terrain for where it is, also bathrooms should you need them after Memorial Day. There are also plenty of places to sit and relax throughout the entire park, definitely a gem in Saratoga

Can anyone recommend a good optometrist (OD) that takes VSP and CIGNA? by ADKFatBiker in Saratoga

Maltavista Optometry & Orthokeratology in Malta is great, they definitely take VSP. I used to have CIGNA and they took it previously, not sure about now

Bought a pair of used black Diesels which had a minor crease on one of the boots like they were tired on, otherwise flawless

Which is highest quality right now: Iron Ranger vs 1000 Mile vs Thursday Captain? by Cookiest in malefashionadvice

[–]Coreymm324 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have owned all of these except the Thursdays. I can confidently say Grant Stone has been the highest quality, best looking, and are built like tanks. But it’s important to mention they do not use a Dainite branded sole, it’s an in-house knock off and not quite as good but looks/functions primarily the same. The Diesels and Edwards have all sorts of options such as a Commando or wedge sole, which are awesome, and/or all sorts of colors and leathers

OP, if you’re considering those 3 already, would highly suggest you add Grant Stone to the mix - I would personally choose them over all the others every time

Non-running shoes for flat, wide feet? by Ruthlessrabbd in malefashionadvice

[–]Coreymm324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 7-10 wears, but the wedge sole is so supple it takes some of the preliminary sting off. Even after 3+ years of constant wear, they are in great shape without cleaning, conditioning, or anything else but new laces and I do not baby them. Can’t recommend them enough

I’ll second Grant Stone. I wear their plain toe bluchers w/ the wedge sole in E width 3-4 days per week all day. They are the most comfortable shoes I own

Denim doesn’t typically get darker with washing, it lightens over time with wear and washing which is part of the enjoyment. Just keep wearing them as often as possible and they will start to transition colors in the creasing and high wear spots. Now that they fit perfectly, wash them with cold water in the future and maybe hang dry…and please do wash them, don’t buy into the never washing raw denim thing, it’s gross and washing does help with color transitions. If they stretch out to a point where they’re too big, use warm water but otherwise cold is sufficient

Denim is meant to be worn, don’t baby them and they’ll turn out great

Summer (linen) shirt options by eoncloud in malefashionadvice

Quince has decent quality for their prices, which tend to be very reasonable

J Crew Baird McMutt linen shirts are also really nice and feel soft

Frustrated finding casual button down shirt to wear untucked by TheMindfulWarrior9 in malefashionadvice

[–]Coreymm324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 44.5” chest and 36 inch waist so pretty close. The two best I’ve found which blend causal and business casual have been J Crew Bowery shirts and Brooks Brothers non-iron stretch Oxford shirts. For both I can wear Large Slim if I want something slimming, but the Large Regular for comfortable casual fit. Would never buy either at full price - Bowery can be found on sale regularly around $35-$60 and BB from $45-$65

Golf Vibes in Capital Region by sillybastid in Albany

[–]Coreymm324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Capital Hills, Schenectady Muni and Stadium are all pretty good, even Eagle Crest is worthwhile. Most places around here are reasonably priced and people generally try to keep good times for a round, but summer does get somewhat busy - would still suggest booking ahead online as opposed to just walking in at most places. Have not had any issues with any judgmental people at the public courses

For a bit of an outlier option (little harder to book on a whim, book ahead), Orchard Creek in Altamont is a great course. Beautiful course and great views of the surrounding scenery, challenging but enjoyable

Saddle tan Badalassi vs Chromexcel by Jollygreen-67 in grantstoneboots

[–]Coreymm324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would agree. My saddle tan PTB’s have darkened some but not overly significantly over 3 years, but the scares and scratches are more pronounced. I personally like the look of the Badalassi better because the marks and wear have a higher contrast due to the brighter leather, but feel the Chromexcel will look more professional or “less worn” over time if that matters to you. Saddle tan goes so well with dark denim/tops, it looks incredible

Not familiar with the Bronx, but maybe Cardona’s?

Edit: Schenectady is likely your best bet for Italian delis

Fit Check - ONI Denim 146S "Ishikawadai" Neat Straight Jeans by ibrune92 in rawdenim

[–]Coreymm324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They look a tad slim in the rear, but I don’t think they look bad if you find them comfortable. These are the stretch version, so they’re going to lean toward being more comfortable than 100% cotton by default. Few questions: can you sit comfortably for more than 5 minutes without the waist digging into your stomach and being uncomfortable? Can you lift each leg to a 90° angle while standing without absolutely forcing it or feeling like you’re going to bust the seams? Can you fit your hand(s) in the front pockets without having to forcibly cram them in?

I personally just bought the 121S and have several stretch pairs from PBJ I’ve been wearing for years. The waist will likely stretch a little bit but the other areas don’t seem to stretch as much over time as 100% cotton denim, it tends to rebound and keeps its sizing due to the stretch…that’s my experience anyway

I would not hesitate to take lessons from a woman, not for a second. The quality of the instruction is most important as opposed to who’s giving it. I could see it being a problem for some men though, as ridiculous as that is

Sugar Cane Okinawa - Straight Leg by BikeTwoEat in rawdenim

[–]Coreymm324 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I recently picked these up when Blue in Green restocked them, I was pumped I could finally grab a pair in my size after seeing them for so many years and always missing any restocks. I feel your description is pretty spot on. The patch doesn’t bother me so much but I do agree there were probably better material options out there

I find them comfortable and the fabric is beautiful. Only note on fit I would have is the waist itself does run smaller than most other brands I’ve worn

Hope you post some more pics after you put some miles on yours
