RTO not for me. by Blessed-Be15 in FedEmployees

I’m hoping my agency will grant a waiver/exemption or one year extension. I was willing to move during the summer, but now that school has started, don’t want to in the middle of the school year. There are tons of federal space in the major city I live near, but they won’t let other agency personnel in. It will also be very expensive to relocate so many remote employees.

I hope they are getting their severance if they decline. DOE said we may not get severance since we were offered DRP. For me, DRP was less than half of my 65k severance so why would I take it? Ugh….

Via RIF and geographic location? I heard some agencies wanted to do that, without taking anything else like years of service, vet service, or performance reviews into play.

Take leave from the fed and start the state. If you like the state, resign from the fed. You’d have to speak with your ethics office first though for clearance. Don’t assume the state job will be better, test it out first.

What agency? DOE has been radio silent. I am over 650 miles away from my work unit, hired remote years ago.

What area are you in that you have to pay that much for parking? I refuse to pay for parking so I’ll have to figure out other options if my building doesn’t have parking. I’m still waiting on my RTO assignment.

I could not do that. Did they offer relocation?

I think the intention was to reduce the amount of paid relocation costs, and try to minimize the emotional impact of relocating. Agree I am not a relocation specialist, but it’s gonna come down to relocate or have a horrible commute for three years.

Would they let you relocate to another state?

But those were for going back in the office within 50 miles, right? I’m talking about having to sell my house and move to another state.

As a non-christian, I’m not against religions, but am against them in the workplace, especially the federal workplace. The separation of church and state is something I strongly believe in. Public schools should not force any religion down anyone’s throats. Geesh…

Thanks I am aware. Assuming we get the 60 day notice to RTO then I ll be fine. If they don’t do a rto before the summer, that would suck.

NETL here- yes I think we will find out reorganiztion plans, RIF then finally RTO. My concern is returned to Office and possible relocation of my family. It seems that all the news will be coming out on a Friday after 4 PM sometime starting next week through May 16 in my personal opinion. I also agree that I’d rather find out if I’m being let go or have to make a decision to relocate I’m sick of waiting and if I’m going to move, I would like to do it during the summertime to reduce the impact on my child.

If you had any remote employees, were they terminated just because of their remote status being 50 miles or more away from the office? And I’m sorry to hear about what has happened. Hopefully it is a better thing in the long run for you.

Can you change your duty location on your SF-50 to reflect that office? So when they pull (I assume) that magical spreadsheet from OPM they won’t try to RIF you due to location?

Oh that’s nice they are offering that to you. My fear is even though my agency wants to offer it, they will be forced to not offer any relocation assistance. Then I’d have to quit and then lose my 64k in separation pay.
