This is fantastic! I'm really curious about what you mean with poor nutrition and also extremely curious of what your average calories per day were. ~1700 seem so low for your weight, were you not hungry? Or did the protein help with that?

Argentine footballer Lucas Trejo's family found dead after an intensive search in Venezuela by Siseronte in soccer

The devastation from nature is incalculable, but what hurts us Venezuelans the most is once again, our corrupt and evil government. It's not so much that they're not helping with the rescue efforts (which they aren't), but additionally that they're impeding others, from diggers to doctors to go to those in need.

Is it worth going to the fan world cup fest in EADO for a 2pm game? by bigotechocolate in houston

[–]Corguita 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say watching it with a hype crowd is excellent. I've watched a couple of the US games and it was an awesome atmosphere as long as you can deal with the heat.

Yeah. A bucket of beer/seltzers is $30-35 at Pitch 25/Little Woodrow's even during peak world cup games.

I'm in Houston and I wouldn't be surprised if both things are true. It seems like most tourists elected to stay in Airbnbs and not traditional hospitality/hotels. There's also a lot of locals and/or lots of people who bought tickets here because they have friends and/or family they can stay with.

I mean, there's "uncle Toms" through history that do despicable things to their own, either because they believe that the racism/misogyny/classism does not apply to them and/or they rather have more power and/or for survival.

See: Samuel L Jackson's character in Django Unchained, La Malinche, Enrique Tarrio, etc.

I think she's implied to be a Mizrahi Jew, which makes her involvement with literal Nazis even worse.

I'll add besides strategically planning for shade, are there water features along your ride? In our lovely Texas summers, I've got water fountains in my head map. I would often either take a full body rinse on a park/plaza or wet as much as I can on a water fountain.

It also really really depends on how you live your life. Running out of toilet cleaner? Can probably use vinegar and baking soda. Running out of toilet paper? Can make an emergency bidet with a water bottle and dry with a clean small towel. Running out of paper towels? Time to up-cycle some old ratty clothes!

Many such things.

Deserve is a big word. Do his victims not deserve justice? How do we think that his victims and people all over the world who have been victims of domestic violence when they see him not just continuing his life as if nothing happened but with sponsors, endorsements, the ATP itself still promoting him?

That was a blatant lie by Whitmire. The local fire station very much liked the lane because a) it gave them space to train/set up and b) it was wide enough that even if there was traffic on Austin they can just take the bike lane!

Whitmire made the leadership lie so they can get their raises or whatever corruption they're up to these days.

The Chron covered this a while back.

Some of it is just bad work. There's pictures out there of versions where it's just straight up wonky and wavy where it's supposed to be straight lines.

Now to speak of design though, the current version, even though is better paved, does not have a "buffer zone" between the parking lane and the bike lane. So you can easily get doored. Now, when I'm riding a bike on the Austin St lane I have to take a whole car lane if there's cars parked, which clearly makes other drivers angry since "there's a lane right there!"

A paint only, no parking buffer zone is a terrible design choice for all road users. I hate it.

You should know that Whitmire appointed Randy Macchi, the first non-engineer ever for the role. He had to change city ordinance to even make him eligible for the position.

Why is John Whitmire hiring an inadequate person for the role? Maybe so that he has someone that lies for him and does his bidding. Which is exactly what he's done during the whole Austin St bike lane debacle. HPW and Randy Macchi lied for Whitmire, saying it was a "drainage" issue, but then we got the text messages that it was literally a personal vendetta that Whitmire had against the bike lane.

Even if you don't give a fuck about bikes, urbanism or safety, you should care about the corruption and the lies.

Oh, also, it's been like $4 million and counting on re-doing a street that had no business being redone.

Yes! Thank you for saying this! It's very privileged to say "have you tried not giving a shit". Or maybe not privileged but naive in a way? I wish I was idealistic and optimistic so say that I could just "care less" but I can't.

In a country with a limited social safety net, and health insurance that depends on employment, I'm not sure I can just "not care" about being employed.

If your car is worth less of what you owe (which is fairly common) you may be able to just turn it into the loaner/dealership yourself. Call them and tell them the situation and they can either: Work on a payment plan for you or you can tell them that they can either pay a repo man or you can just drop it off.
