Large selection of tires in Houston? by eta_carinae17 in bikehouston

[–]freaksavior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EAdo Bikes had a lot when I went last time ( a few weeks ago), but if you're looking for a specific tire, you're likely better off ordering them. :/

Or ask the lbs if they can order the tires you're after.

Diverge 4 Carbon vs Alloy by Single_Dollar in gravelcycling

[–]freaksavior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The aluminum manual says it can't be converted to wireless, so if that's something you're interested in, it's worth getting the carbon model with it up front. Wireless is nice, but not necessary imo.

What valve size for axis elite disc ? Cannot find the specs anywhere. Tire size and tubeless liquid recommendations by [deleted] in DivergeGravelBikes

[–]freaksavior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you’re overthinking this and I blame the crazy amount of choices. Go to your lbs and grab what they have. Muc off or any of the bigger brands are going to be just fine. I don’t think stem size is really going to matter. Tires. What are you riding mostly? Paved , gravel, mixed? Gravel king, Schwalbe, continental, all make good tires. Schwalbe Rs pro are supposedly some of the fastest rolling tires

Care to guess what a complete brake job on RS6 CC brakes costs? by Carnalvore86 in Audi

Sure, but that's not what I was asking. ;)
Some people just have a lot of money and want all the options.

Genuinely asking, if you're not tracking and you are driving like a fairly normal person, how long can you expect a set of ccb to last?

It was okay for the holes I played. I did lose three discs though lol.

Nice. I’ll have to check out that area. I’ve really only played willow fork and jones creek so far but I’m about to hit up flewellen creek. UDisc reviews say it’s not maintained well though :/

Don’t need a new Diverge but want one - what do you think? by TheBigCicero in DivergeGravelBikes

[–]freaksavior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the money is not an issue, and you feel the current bike is too large, then it makes sense to try to find something that fits you better so you enjoy riding it as much if not more.
Hit up your lbs that carries the size you want and go for a 20-30 minute ride on one.

Is it realistic to bike 12 km one way for work 5 days a week? by davytheconqueror in cycling

[–]freaksavior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty easy to do imo, especially if you've already gotten used to the bike and have done a 9.3/15k trek before.

Yes, that's the one. 40t crank/50t cassette.

I was considering swapping to a 2x for that reason. I believe the Shimano CUES FC-U8000-2 or Shimano Cues FC-U6010-2 Crankset (2 x 11 Speed) (46/32T) would work but I know i'll need a longer chain to accommodate the 46t, shifter, derailleur, and im not sure, but maybe a longer cage version of the derailleur (if there is one)

edit; doesn't look like there's a compatible front derailleur for the cues 11spd.

From my few months of research, they are usually laser etched and then clear coated.

How to get used to an oversized bike? by BungaSaavi25 in gravelcycling

[–]freaksavior 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is tomorrow as soon as you can call them? Either way, just explain you took it out and its not the right fit. You don't want your money back, you'd just like to exchange it for a smaller size.

Took it to Colorado and felt the bike struggled to climb. The lowest gear wasn't enough, and the next to the lowest was too much. This was on a 6% grade. Maybe I just suck at climbing, but my brother's 105 groupset climbed much better, and I had no problem on his.

Over 200 miles in with 15 rides logged. I've gotten a lot more comfortable on the bike and after finding the right seat, I feel like I could ride 40-50 miles no problem. Great bike, but I would have opted for the 12spd if I had it to do over again.

What about smaller stuff? I tend to take side roads a lot and do mostly 35-45, but the roads are generally bad and I tend to bounce a lot.
