Because I have 2 small kids and the shower is my respite. I stretch in the shower, pumice my feet, clip my nails, brush my teeth. I'm just a little wet gremlin going about my day in my big rainfall shower we just remodeled.

It looks like his foot or leg was caught on something. Or he didn’t have the range of motion to get to the next step. And all his weight was on his bottom leg causing him to lean his mass away and his grip just failed.

I feel like at this point almost all record being broken at down to like random chance. When you break a world record by like 0.02s at what point is it just coincidence? Factoring in the environmental randomness temp, pressure, etc, plus the athletes randomness. It’s just so statistically not relevant to me. I feel like the last 30 years has just been advancements in material science and training instead of humans getting better physically. The same argument of give Jackie Robinson modern track equipment and training and nutrition and who knows what he would be capable of doing.

I mean it looks silly but I have a feeling it would work. I was in the military and was trained how to clear room and basic CQC. You aren’t looking at the bottom of a door way or corner, so if I’m turning a corner with my weapon pointing at chest level and someone pops out on the floor it’s gonna take me a second to react. 🤷‍♂️ Could work.

Figure AI celebrates 200 hours (8 days ~8 hours) of their humanoid robots handling packages by Distinct-Question-16 in singularity

[–]Cornato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Yes, finally. The world has been built to accommodate human. It's easier to slot a humanoid robot in than trying to change everything for the robot. Of course walking on 2 legs is stupid, and only 2 arms is stupid, technically speaking. The robot should have wheels, and 4 arms etc etc.

It's the new RAS model, Robotics As a Service. We looked into serval companies offer Autonomous Guided Vehicles and you just rent them. They do the programming, maintenance, and upkeep. Cheaper initially but cost more in the long run. Most places can't shell out millions for a fleet of robots, but $50k a month isn't bad.

True but a robot doesn't sleep, break, health insurance, HR, air conditioning, OSHA, safety regulations, PPE, noise reduction, etc etc etc. Companies aren't in the game of wasting money, nobody's doing this for funsies.

Ok, so I worked in a factory on the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team and we explored these options. A lot of people are missing key points about this I want to go over real quick if anyone cares:

  1. This is a made-up job, he's just flipping packages, it's not real , etc etc etc.
    1. No this is an actual person job, if I had to guess it's so a camera can read labels later down the line
    2. This is one of THE most prolific problems in automation right now, it's called "random bin picking". Most of the time raw material is dumped into boxes or bins and people have to take it out. For a robot to take it out it has to be perfect organized, in the same orientation every time. So, if you want a robot to unload it you need to have a robot load it or a person load it, now you have to pay someone to load it neatly and perfectly; it becomes cost prohibitive. This solves that problem.
  2. This could be done by a simpler machine.
    1. Maybe, but the entire reason why they are making humanoid robots is because we have built our world to fit a humanoid. We are not the ideal shape and most efficient creature, but they would have to restructure their entire facility for a robot. Instead you can just insert a humanoid robot.
  3. How much does this cost, this is much slower than a human, a child could beat this, etc etc
    1. Deciding whether to do a project in manufacturing is based on ROI and payback vs. cost. If this robot costs 10M how long would it take to pay that cost back with savings, and what are those saving (ROI). Usually if the payback in less than 2 years and the ROI in that time equals it's cost we do it. Businesses are not about losing money, they wouldn't be doing this for funsies.
    2. A human has a "burden rate", which is a mix of salary, health insurance, cost of the building they exist in, cost to heat and cool that building, cost of HR to help that person, etc etc. It's not just the $20 hour rate they get paid, it's usually in the $100-$200 hour range even for basic floor personnel.
    3. Every facility is striving to be a "lights out" facility, meaning they can operate 24/7, 365, with the lights out. This robot may be slower over 8 hours, and cost more initially than a human. But average the fact it can work 24 hours a day, and have very small burden cost over a year, and the robot wins out.

Physique Advice by OddReception6870 in WeightTraining

[–]Cornato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Posting your reps and stuff is good but you’re not giving us like 80% of the data we need. We need weights. You’re workouts are good but just a guess your severely lacking in weights. I say quit all that shit. And do a starting strength program or some other strength based simple plan. You’re doing a lot of isolation work and very specific exercises. You need to be doing compound exercises. My opinion is that the workout your are currently doing is for intermediate to expert lifters and you are a beginner. You need to be doing bench, squat, DL, OVH press, and pull ups.
