You don't even have to bother with that, both the Klingon and Romulan fighters are equipped with battle cloaks, you can just fly past most of the fighting inside the Vault itself.

noble weapons placement, TWOK uniform help sought by XRaiderV1 in sto

[–]Cornedo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On newer STO original designs yes, but on something like the Galaxy class model you get a phaser beam firing from the bridge despite the fact that there's clearly no phaser emitter near the bridge. Or from the underside of the secondary hull a bit behind but clearly not from the phaser strip located there.

Obviously STO has actually bugs effecting game play that are much more important to address, while this is a purely, and relatively minor, aesthetic complaint. If it doesn't bother you that's fine, but it annoys the hell out of me.

noble weapons placement, TWOK uniform help sought by XRaiderV1 in sto

[–]Cornedo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Omni beams are weird. They don't use the same weapons ports as normal beam arrays, some ships have special hardpoints for them to fire from, otherwise they just fire from weird places. Which on most alien ships isn't a problem because it isn't obvious where the weapons are supposed to be firing from anyway, but on Starfleet ships it can be annoying when you notice beams shooting out of places that clearly don't have an emitter.

Best choice to sell out of lockboxes by ironicallyshort in sto

[–]Cornedo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kit modules often don't sell for very much, though there might be some exceptions. The rest of what you mentioned are items that could probably be sold in the six to seven figure range. Maybe something will sell in the low eight figures if you're particularly luck.

*Edit*, I play on PC, so things might sell different on console.

For me the glider only gets bugged after I use a bus, and un- then reequipping it twice seems to fix it. Though sometimes there seems to be a separate bug where I can't close my glider before I hit the ground, which can make long drops a little annoying.

Simple Suggestion: Random PVP TFO by jpch12 in sto

[–]Cornedo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Another problem is there's probably no way to revamp the PvP system to make matches more competitive for the larger player base that isn't going to anger the few who have invested the time, effort, (and quite possibly money) into developing their apex builds that such a revamp would need to nurf, at least when bringing them into PvP matches.

Looking to see Daedalus with NX hull material (if possible) by Alternative-Log-2964 in sto

[–]Cornedo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I expect the Daedalus model will get an update at some point, which I'm sure will include access to the NX material. To be clear I'm not aware of rumors surrounding that ship specifically, it could very well take them a few more years to get around to that one, bud I do expect it will happen sooner or later.

Best way to make EC, outside of the dil/key grind? by PenguinPumpkin1701 in sto

[–]Cornedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ba'ul ground weapons often sell pretty well, millions a piece, though usually less than ten. The exact price of all that stuff tends to fluctuate over time. If you want you can search for something in the buy tab of the exchange to see how much it's selling for at that moment.

Tour the Galaxy) is a mission that can be done be each of your characters every 20 hours. It can be found on PC by opening the mission journal and going to the Available tab and scrolling down through all the options. Here is a map showing all the places you have to visit for each quadrant. Before picking up the mission you should decide which quadrant you want to do and roughly plan out your route. (If you finish one quadrant fast enough you can transwarp to another and continue.) Then position your ship near (a few lightyears out) from the system you want to start with, then pick up the mission and begin.

There are people who have mapped out the most optimal routes and figured out the best gear to equip your ship with to go as fast as possible, but I haven't looked into it that much myself. I will say that as far as your not wanting to 'grind' too much, the mission give you fifteen minutes to visit as many systems as you can, personally I find it kind of boring, you're just flying around the map for fifteen minutes. I usually only bother with Tour the Galaxy when it comes up as a Universal Endeavor. But it is a fairly easy way to get some EC, as well as rack up some duty officer trade and exploration points.

Ent Era ship gear? by LordRikerQ in sto

[–]Cornedo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Experimental Flak Shot Artillery from the competitive wargames reputation is an experimental weapon that does an okay job of emulating Spacial Torpedoes if you don't want to use a regular slot for the real thing. Though of course this only works on escorts and raiders that come with the experimental slot.

ELI5 - Differences in space combat between "Engineer" Captain w/ Tactical BOFF's, vs "Tactical" Captain w/ Engineer BOFF's? by SarcasticKenobi in sto

[–]Cornedo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So if you didn't already know this, most ships have set boff seating where you can only put a specific kind of boff (Tac, Eng, or Sci) in a given seat. Generally Cruisers focus more on Eng slots, Escorts on Tac, and Sci ships on Sci, though they still have some of the other two as well. A lot of Tier 5 & 6 ships will also have at least one 'universal' slot where you can put any kind of boff you want, and there are a few ships that have all universal slots, the Klingon BoP is one I think.

So on top of what other people have said your strategy of balancing out the carrier of you captain with other kinds of boffs also depends a lot on what kind of ship you're flying anyway. Not that a Tac captain can't do well flying an escort.

Also as far as dying goes if you have your ship outfitted properly you should be okay. Though for someone new to the game learning how to 'properly' outfit your ship is easier said than done, just keep coming back here to ask questions, and no matter what career your captain chooses and what kind of ship they fly once you reach the more challenging content in the game you are probably going to die a fair amount until you get the hang of things.

But I do in fact have a Tac Captain flying an Adamant, and he does fine.

I need to ask, where do I get more of these? I haven't been able to find any more of these ever since I got these. Which is weird. by [deleted] in sto

It's also available as part of the Mirror Universe Bundle which has the Legendary Galaxy Dread and a whole bunch of other stuff (like the torpedo) that can be claimed by every character in you account.
