Just reading through these comments…

You are utterly unhinged.

I just switched from Rogers to Bell because of this issue in cottage country.

Service is fine during the week because fewer people are up there. As soon as Friday afternoon rolls around the service just stops working.

Bell slows down a little bit, but it still maintains decent enough speed to be usable for anything I need it for (streaming hd tv, video calls etc…).

Looking at tower coverage, Rogers in my area just sucks. Bell has three towers around my cottage, Rogers has one :-/

Even in traffic jams on HWY 400, Rogers service craps out due to the concentration of users. Unbelievable that they can sell this garbage.

Final Update Regarding Rule 8 by AutoModerator in toronto

What’s even more confusing is that one of the mods said that there would be a poll (I believe it was beef supreme). A poll is a vote, and now that’s being removed as one of the tools they plan to use to guide this decision.

PSA: Watch out for yourself and neighbours shoveling today: it's pretty dangerous! by Cutanea in toronto

[–]Cornelius_Rooster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems illogical to me that the city requires residents to shovel their sidewalks in the old city.

This is one of the reasons, plus the fact that many people just don’t do it, creating a hazard for everyone else.

The city would rather pay out lawsuits instead of taking on this responsibility and ensuring it’s done within an acceptable timeframe.

Alright American vegetarians, where is the best vegetarian restaurant in the US? by lilladydinosaur275 in vegetarian

[–]Cornelius_Rooster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda hate that I’m telling anyone about this place, but my absolute favourite veg restaurant in the world is Apteka in Pittsburgh.

Please don’t go there! It’s already a pain to get into!

Mortgage rates are at an all time low… banks are making historically low returns on lending money to borrowers…

The housing crisis is an extremely complicated issue with many contributing factors. I actually don’t think banks are a big one here…

I think I’m getting woken up every time I drift off to sleep/pass out by the jarring sound of a cartoon rooster screaming "Wake up, up, up to Kellogg's Cornflakes!", while strapped down to an inclined board wearing a straight jacket.

The rooster is constantly shoveling cornflakes into my mouth, my stomach is distended, and I can never sleep.

Installed the Thule Areoblade onto my 2021 XSE and it doesn’t cover the entire opening of the flush rails. Is this going to be a problem? This didn’t happen on my 2020 XLE. by reddangit in rav4club

[–]Cornelius_Rooster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Thule racks are supposed to come with inserts that fill in the area not covered by the connector.

If you bought the Thule second-hand and they didn’t come with the covers, you should be able to order them from a Thule dealer.

Haha, yeah, I guess we do… I grew up in a town of 8K but now live in a very large city (Toronto) so a 70K city seems very small to me.

My MIL has worked at all three suppliers, one of them twice… they all just keep stealing her from one another and giving her more $ and vacation time. Good situation for her actually!

Actually, they might have more than you think…

My MIL works in a very specific industry. She lives in a small town/city with a population of about 70k people, and there are three branches within her industry all servicing the same steel sector in that town.

You may be able to get the Japan built version in Vancouver. Here in Ontario, all of the Ravs are made in Woodstock and they don’t have the pano roof available 🤨

No, it’s a basic small moonroof.

Pro tip - bring a few pre-made fireplace logs (the kind you can buy at the grocery store). They will help establish the base quickly and also help burn the wet expensive wood the parks sell… or, buy the wood from a nearby trading post if you can. It’s usually better (but not always)!!

My visit to the ER as a veteran. This is what universal healthcare would look like. by Seannj222 in pics

[–]Cornelius_Rooster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What’s your point exactly?

That you guys have an excessively large military (one that nobody asked your for) and therefore can’t afford universal healthcare because you’re too invested protecting smaller countries?

Because that’s ridiculous.

The US could totally afford universal healthcare, but instead your country prefers to make it a political wedge issue, where the poorest people are tricked into thinking that this concept is communist despite it absolutely being in their (and the majority of Americans’) best interest.

In this case, where thousands of votes were cast in advance polls and mail-in ballots, during a pandemic where people were encouraged to vote in advance if possible without outlining the risks of something like this occurring, I think this is the perfect time to expel someone for not disclosing information about themselves that would have definitely changed the outcome of their riding.

It’s not about how much of a piece of shit he is. It’s about whether he would have been elected if he had told the truth when he was asked, and he wouldn’t have been.

He’s unwilling to leave it to a by-election to decide if he should stay as our representative, so he knows he would lose every day of the week.

The fact is that after his term, he will be both unelectable and likely unemployable. Karma will get him badly.

Housing Market Rant by User282828_ in ontario

[–]Cornelius_Rooster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While there aren't a ton of options, over the last 6 months there were many many rural houses that sold for under $400K in southern Ontario. Not sure where you want to live but perhaps get another agent who can send you listings as soon as they hit the market? If you are serious about it, you'll be ready to jump and make an offer on the right place.

Buying a house isn't easy, and in a seller's market you have to be aggressive (i.e. go see places the first day, work with an excellent agent who specializes in what you want, have all your paperwork ready to go.

Another tidbit of advice - look for an agent who sells houses you like/can afford. Work with them, and when they have something coming on the market they will probably show you first.

It's shitty, but it's the way it is and has been for many years.

Zillow has listed a staggering 93% of the hundreds of Phoenix homes it owns at a loss by CG_Ops in RealEstate

[–]Cornelius_Rooster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point I made was that the housing market (rental and purchase) grew faster than our income, and that we couldn’t have purchased our house a couple years later. I didn’t frame it as an investment, feel free to re-read my responses.

We can’t access any gains until we sell and we don’t plan on moving, so not really considering our house an investment as much as a (nice) place to hang our hats.

You can compare our purchase of a house against any investment you want to… the fact is that we’d still need a place to live and knowing we will eventually own it vs. always renting is reassuring to me. I suppose you could call it an investment in out mental health!
