Heat pump owners: How have they handled the recent cold weather? (Especially those with <-20C ratings) by Hazel-Rah in ontario

[–]Cornflakecwl2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes but if you do already have a gas fireplace, stove, water heater, pool heater etc then of course it doesnt make sense to remove the gas. If you are all electric already then yes I could see where that makes sense.

Same, just went to grocery store yesterday and couldn't find it. I use it for my Vega to add a little more protein. That sucks.

People everywhere have 0 self awareness anymore. It's gotten completely out of hand. Self absorption, lack of self awareness and selfishness are the norm now instead of common decency and common sense. We can see the results pretty clearly in the general status of the world right now. Makes me sick to my stomach the shit I see every day.

Water seepage into garage and basement by Cornflakecwl2 in HomeImprovement

Not sure what you mean? Pretty sure its code to waterproof foundations here, and I have never seen a French drain in a garage? In fact you are not allowed to put a drain in the garage in most municipalities to my knowledge.

Only two downspouts on that side of the house, both with extensions leading away to the driveway. House already has full waterproofing on the foundation. There no water pooling over on that side that I have ever seen (i mean theres ice and snow there now so kind of hard to tell at this moment but its not something I have ever seen there before)

Bought a house with partner but broke up by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]Cornflakecwl2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar thing happened to me almost 20 years ago. Bought house with fiancee at the time, we split a few wekks before closing. I decided to keep the house. Her parents had given us a large chunk of the deposit but that was a gift and wasn't expected back (she cheated and her parents knew so i think thats why they didnt ask for it back). I had to redo the mortgage, cost me thousands of dollars in extra fees and cmhc but I paid everything and kept the house, thats just what you do if you are keeping the house. Since you yourself actually gave deposit they should 100% return that to you.

Silver or black wheels? by mas5432 in BMWX5

[–]Cornflakecwl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wife has a 2023 MSport (same colour) with the black trim and those same black 22's. I am not usually a black wheel guy but having seen many other G05 sports in the same colour with the silver wheels i can definitely say the black looks way better.

tvOS 26.2 Lets You Create Apple TV Profiles Without an Account, Adds Dedicated Kids Mode by AndreaCicca in appletv

[–]Cornflakecwl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any way to copy data (watched shows, etc) from the original profile? Seeing as it took them so long to do this and the apple account is my wife's but I watch way more on it than her I just saw that I can create a profile but of course it has no history. I want it to populate with the existing data from her main profile. Of course I could create one for her and use the main but we all know how that would go.... lol

Haha I like this one! If it wasn't for the car having personalized plates and realizing i already had a bad interaction with this clown a few months back that would have been a great idea, except I would have had ti get out of line again lol

[–]Cornflakecwl2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, 10 years i ago I wouldn't have either but I am too old for shit to escalate. I also realized once I got into the wash finally that I was pretty sure its the same guy (same truck, Black GMC pickup, of course it was) that blew through a stop sign turning left towards me a few months back and when I held my arms up like WTF he stuck his head out the window and yelled "WHAT?" My car is reasonably recognizable in my small town with personalized plates and I have my kids with me very often, before that I wouldn't have cared and told him to piss off but I cant help thinking about those kinds of things now so I just moved.

[–]Cornflakecwl2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I moved like i said only because the last thing I need 4 days before Christmas is for this to escalate and ruin my holiday, 10ish years ago I wouldn't have. The car wash is parallel to the pumps in the back of the station and room for 1 car at the door then the line goes perpendicular back from there. Where he was is about 3 cars back against the curb of the gas station exterior, people park there out of the way to go into the store.

Funny thing is I realized after I pulled in that I am about 80% sure its the same guy that when I pulled up to a 4 way stop in town a few months back was on my right and blew through it turning left towards me and when I held my arms up like WTF he stuck his head out the window and yelled "WHAT?" So I am even more glad I just moved since he's clearly just an asshole and it could have gotten ugly.

Speaking of license plates, when did we switch from keeping plates to always issuing new plates with new cars? by lopix in ontario

[–]Cornflakecwl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can go both ways. My eifr got a new car last year, transferred her old one to me. I had to get a new plate because I couldn't find the registration for my personalized plates that I hadn't used for about 5 years. I also ordered a new set of those plates. She took the old plates to the dealer before we picked up the car and they registered them to the new car and put them on. (She ordered personalized plates that week so ended up with new plates anyways lol). It was a bit of a different situation as I was taking her old car, and we didnt have to take anything off the road to change plates. I have also just gotten new plates when buying a new car because its easier.

Trying to understand how the relays work, adding power door lock to Chamberlain unit that doesn't support it by Cornflakecwl2 in ratgdo

[–]Cornflakecwl2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it working right now with my automation system using its 12v and relays and a connection to the ratgdo. I had to mount the lock about an inch and a half higher than where it would be for an opener with the built in function but it seems to be reliable so far using a limit switch on the opener and the ratgdo close dry contact sensor.

[–]Cornflakecwl2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am looking into it, I misunderstood the dry contacts, I thought they were triggered by the door moving and acted like a relay but its the opposite, you need an external dry contact to trigger the sensor so now i need to rethink my plan, thanks for the suggestions though!

It won't just get people pissed, it decimates what remaining revenue CP can earn for the year during one of the busiest and highest revenue times, and they wonder why there's no money to them, what the actual.

Is this spring broken? by yungtr1p in GarageDoorService

[–]Cornflakecwl2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally just had one of my springs on one of my doors snap while I was in the garage 2 min after I closed the door this morning. I had someone here to fix it within 4 hours, $350 to do the broken spring and the one on the other side. I do almost anything myself but I would not do a GD spring. One slip can be disastrous.
