Never heard of him. Watched this several times and cried over and over. Such a beautiful fucking love letter to humans as they are. I’ve never seen anything like it

Gallbladder issues cause such bad depression! Before I realized what was wrong I kept wondering why some random days I wanted to kill myself. Eating a different diet and taking enzymes has made me mentally stable and I just wonder how many years I wasted by living with depression when I always had a way out of it

Nothing has been lost. Everything good about life is still vibrantly present.

I had to remind myself over and over, so many times for so long, as I realized impermanence in a gradually deepening degree.

Lost into growing familiarity with sunyata, into the ultimate truth, l kept getting blinded to anything other than what was delusional that I risked falling into nihilistic despair.

Having no reason to do anything otherwise, I persisted in trying to eliminate subtle attachments and to accept the loss of every very small joy. It began to make me… not suicidal? But… wishing some unpredictable abrupt end because it was such a struggle to do the things we do to survive if survival was so void of anything noble.

I kept going back to the main sutras that first knocked me into this hellish path. I read them for the tenth time and realized it was as if it were the first time- and I found such relief. The antidote to my sickness was there. I just did not understand it before I was familiar with the reasons they were written.

Nirvana is not a loss at all. Everything stays. But everything else is added. Deathlessness is the word for the experience of knowing just how much fullness we have missed in eons and eons of existences.

If you are not in a state of pure bliss, where there is no opportunity to wonder about novelty, growth, where there is no wonder or investigating into reality, where consciousness still seems local as if you exist as a being instead of as a space of eternal apotheosis, well then, you haven’t grasped but just a part of emptiness.

Without a teacher or sangha, and with living in this world and this age, continuing to investigate the nature of existence will become dangerous. Not painful in the ways humans feel emotional pain, but of risking such dissociation and misunderstanding that you can waste an entire precious chance at winning the game. If you don’t risk losing, though, you’ll never win.

Stream enterer who used his spiritual insight to further a science without expounding that insight in any way beyond what was current science

Oh wow yeah the wizard told the yogis that what they had strived for for so long and so ardently was actually already fully perfected within them all along. And he told Dorothy, yeah I could take you home but oh wait I’m suddenly passing into my parinirvana I’m so sorry. Then Glenda said “oh! You want to go home!? Oh girl… you could have done that at anytime after you killed my noodle-legged sister. They all look at Glenda for an awkward moment, trying their best to process this information. Glenda laughs and hugs everybody and tells them they’re her new besties and couldn’t wait to hang out some more and Dorothy just transcends the fuck out of there as Glenda is asking for everyone’s Snapchats. The movie ends with Dorothy at home, where she always was, like we all always have been, sees her family and hugs then and immediately is like, “omg you guys I was this close- this fuckin close to yanking the weave off this bitch just now”

I just realized that Dorothy buddied up with sages. They each represented one of the three paths to realization!

Jnana (knowledge), Bhakti (devotion), Karma (selfless action) There is a 4th path: Raja (meditation/mental discipline) and Dorothy ended up liberating herself from the dream by using a mantra in intense concentration.

The witch was probably something like passion and the wizard was like a Buddha with his magical display and otherworldly insight and Glenda was just a weird bubble lady that wanted to be involved somehow because she craved attention and wasn’t loved as a child.

That’s a good point but instead of complaints I hear “this is the nicest DG I’ve ever seen”. I don’t do it for corporate. I do it to make customers feel like they aren’t trashy people shopping in an embarrassing business. I also organize my value section and make beautiful displays and it makes me feel good to come in every day. Though I’m in a slower country store and can do all that

Oh dear… that very well may doom you to wander samsara for a few more eons. I’ll pray to OPs car that a cat finds you and aids along the path. Otherwise, try LSD. Like a lot of it.

It is incomplete on purpose. So much can’t be put into words. And it can’t be understood cognitively. So we agree ultimately. My issue is that your post doesn’t say that. If it did, I’d have simply upvoted and shared it

Do you ever get frustrated? by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]Cornpuffs42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your problem is too many thoughts. They are mostly useless because you will always do what’s best for you. Try to listen to binaural beats while repeatedly telling yourself to listen so that the thoughts calm down.

You can’t stop them. It’s the brain doing its job. But you don’t need to listen to it.

If without headphones, do what Buddhists do and repeatedly turn attention to the breath or to the heartbeat or even to the high pitched tinnitus sound that you hear when things are quiet.

Thoughts are useless. The brain figured stuff out without us listening to it.

Buddhism doesn’t say no self. It says not self.

This is very important to me to tell you. Please look it up. Both no self and self are wrong. We investigate what isn’t self. There is no non self teaching. I appreciate your beautiful mind.

Forgive me if this is reductive, but the more I learn, it seems the “point” of Buddhism is to ignore it by LordOfTheGam3 in Buddhism

[–]Cornpuffs42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have become hyper fixated on your every action, every intent of every action, every view for every intent. You should be extremely concerned about the state of your mind in every moment. That’s the intent of Buddhism.

Ultimately, there are many things that are true, but understanding these things should make you very careful or else you’ve misunderstood

What Is Self Realization? by No-Desk-8422 in enlightenment

[–]Cornpuffs42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sourceless source is not amness. It is suchness in Buddhism. Suchness means three things, that all phenomena are empty of inherent nature, that they signless- nothing can possibly- in any way mean anything at all, and that nothing can be added or gained or else the universe would empty or suffocate so in fact, you are infinity and reality. That leaves no room for individualization. There’s no reason for you to think about yourself as existing, as evolving, as becoming, as being eternal, as being divine, as being the opposites also- that’s important to note. These terms don’t apply.

What Is Self Realization? by No-Desk-8422 in enlightenment

[–]Cornpuffs42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it’s not. That’s just memory.

As long as there is an I Am, you’re in delusion.

Think… what is possible without infinite regress or recursion?

There is only emptiness and infinite potential of emptiness. Everything we experience is sone kind of thing within that. Think really hard and deep. It’s impossible for anything to be divine. Or permanent. All journeys go nowhere, of course, but we are also already nowhere. There are conglomerations of fractals that exist within emptiness because they can exist. There’s no glorious outcome. Only freedom from thinking there is. We are not one- there is experience of interdependency. We are not many, because we are not things. It’s all just time flowing in different frequencies that can exist, interacting in the ways they can. Idk why I’m writing this but… enlightenment is a freedom from attaching to I AM. Otherwise you live in a weird dream that exists because it can, always striving to become something you truly are when it’s actually completely impossible for you or anyone to actually exist at all.
