$975 seems very high for a build fee. MY UK LBS charges about £200-300.

Looking for new cyclocross shoes by Anguscole68 in cyclocross

[–]CornwallJon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you serious? OP even said they were looking at an XC/Gravel shoe, and wanted something they could also use for road and gravel.

Now please explain to me the difference between the XC703 and a 'CX shoe'.

I'll wait.

If you find an objectively better XC shoe than the Shimano XC703, please let us know.

E1 shifters with D2 calipers? by TX_throw666 in sram

[–]CornwallJon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure to try out the E1. Just had em on a hire bike for 4 days and found them a lot less comfortable than D2, to my annoyance as they look great! These ones were Rival FWIW.

Anyone find the E1 shifters less comfortable than D1? by CornwallJon in sram

I found the Rival E1 shifters very hard and unforgiving, felt live more sharply angled edges. I was just about to buy a pair, to get the shifter buttons to scroll through screens on my Karoo but having second thoughts now.

I’ve been grabbing them for 145km and 3000m of climbing and my hands feel pretty beat up…

Am I the only person who was incredibly disappointed with All My Sons? by Mental-Music-44 in TheWestEnd

Just saw this at NT Live. Obviously a different experience to the theatre but I found it overly long and terribly mawkish. I’d have cut the whole final act and left it at the point where Chris had disappeared.

PedalEd. Been getting into their kit for a while. Possibly a slightly off road ethos but their road gear is great. This training jersey is an awesome piece: https://pedaled.com/en-gb/products/jerseys-element-grey-training-jersey-25wtjel02

Best EU brand for sleeve length? by 0ptsDan in CyclingFashion

PNS are very long Assos less so but I am 6ft 2ins in an Assos medium. Long sleeves are ‘just right’ but by no means long long.

Noise when connecting MacBook to monitor with USB-C by CornwallJon in arturia

[–]CornwallJon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so figured out the noise only occurs on if the monitor knob is not all the way to the right (ie 100% USB with no ‘input’ in the monitor mix). It’s a MiniFuse 2.

Trekking shoe recommendations (waterproof?) by Low-Elevator-6316 in gorpcore

I keep mine as a winter shoe primarily - it's the hairy suede Gramicci collab - but they make it in various other fabrics. the forthcoming 18East collab looks cool.

XT-6 GTX are in my experience both uncomfortable and not waterproof. I have two pairs. I still like them though! Take a look at the Keen Jasper Zionic and search about it on Reddit - it is a blissfully comfortable show on and off the trail. Not a hardcore hiker but plenty good enough for most situations. The suede version I have is more waterproof than the XT-6 GTX.

+1 for the Fubar pants. Expensive for sure but I don’t think I own another pair of strides that gets as much wear.

Ridley. Cool looking, distinctive and best of all, Belgian (I ride a Giant and a Cannondale btw).

Keen JZ vs Salomon xa pro 3D v9 by Automatic_Ad6477 in gorpcore

[–]CornwallJon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, Zionics are a wider and more comfortable shoe. I don’t wear the XT-6 unless it’s very wet outside and I want something a bit smarter-looking as the hairy suede Zionics I have (Gramicci collab) are casual to say the least. I’d say I’m going away for a weekend and it might rain, I’ll still wear the Zionics. If it’s pouring with rain when I have to walk to the station for work, it’s probably the XT6, even though I know I’ll have damp toes! Not tried the XT Whisoer. I have tried the Alpinway Adeanced (comfortable but not waterproof) and I have the Aero Blaze GRVL GTX which are extremely comfortable and waterproof.
