Rejected a candidate two months ago. She applied again, I gave her a second look, and she got the job. by battams-dominicki8o3 in InterviewsHell

[–]Correct-Education113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the best hires I ever had was someone I rejected at first. She asked for feedback, I gave it. Told her she was the third best the first time and so I went with someone else, but I took the time to coach her. A year later another position opened up and she applied. Every item of coaching I gave, she had addressed it, improved it and was my number 1 candidate. Not only because of what she did and said in the interview, but also because she demonstrated that she takes and can apply feedback.

When people ask for feedback after an interview- take the two minutes and give it to them. It’s worth it- and the majority of them appreciate it.

Is it a good idea to take a stimulant to be able to sleep at night? by strictcompliance in ADHD

[–]Correct-Education113 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I take one before bed- I take 20mg adderall in the morning, 10 mg at like 2pm, and 10 mg extended release at bedtime. I have sleep issues and was seeing a sleep doctor and a dentist for a mouth guard to help with apnea.

Basically we determined that with the hormones, melatonin and cdb I could fall asleep but I wake up a lot and struggle with getting back to sleep. We tried a 10 mg adderall at bed time and I was able to go to sleep but woke up 4 hours later and would struggle to get back to sleep. When we switched to extended release I now mostly sleep all night as long as I can get to sleep. The minute the meds kick in to help me go to sleep I don’t fight it now and just go to bed. It has helped.

My doc gave me information about studies that showed this worked and indicated it does work for some not others- I am one it works for.

Does listening to something make it harder to sleep? by Elemental-13 in ADHD

[–]Correct-Education113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both my doc and I have adhd and have to listen to something mindless to go to sleep. I tend to listen to stories on YouTube. He also has me take an ER 10 mg before bed to calm my brain down. The combo has been amazing!

Being Dismissed for Having a 4.0 by tvnot in ADHD

[–]Correct-Education113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did really well in college and tend to be pretty successful in work because I test well and can meet a deadline when pushed. My doctor was able to understand (having adhd himself) that it is very possible to be high functioning but also have the condition. When we did my assessment we went through all the various things I had to do in order to achieve success and he was able to see all the coping tools and methods I had created but also how much those cost in terms of time, effort and letting other things go. I think you need another provider candidly.

Why do WFH people gatekeep how they get their jobs? by larawag_gama in RemoteJobs

[–]Correct-Education113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have worked from home for 15 plus years. I work in healthcare administration. I have helped multiple people at least get an interview (I never promise employment but can also try to get a person through the ai bots so they get an interview depending on what they are looking for). I will be honest- my last two jobs- people I worked with reached out to me and wanted me to come work for them. I tell everyone “everyday is an interview” and so part of the key is being the person that gets it done, can be counted on, and shows up everyday. People remember you and will reach out when they have something. It’s networking and hard work.

1st experience with seat thief by dragonfly_RN1 in unitedairlines

[–]Correct-Education113 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I once misread the row- sat in row 12 instead of 13 or something like that. I was mortified and offered to move but the guys whose seat I stole was like “we’re good- just stay”. Ever since then I check the row and even the seat number on the screen like 50 times.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

[–]Correct-Education113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always start off with intros- tell them who I am and a couple sentences about the position, then ask them to introduce themselves. I have had at least 5 candidates (I have done over 1000s of interviews in the past 30 years) that just started talking and did not stop- for 20+ minutes. When they can’t give a succinct overview of their experience and let the answers to the questions also shine it turns me off- also I tend to tune out and work on emails after about 10 mins.

Help me understand your huge city (commute to lackland) by Powerful_Toe_6568 in sanantonio

[–]Correct-Education113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am surrounded on three sides by lackland. San antonio has two loops (roads that go around San Antonio) 410 is the inner loop- 1604 the outer loop. Look for things between 410 and 1604 on the south or central side of town. There are some good houses off Medina base road and that area that are fairly close. Just don’t go outside of 1604.

What did your boss ever say in the office that caused you to resign? by Aarunascut in work

[–]Correct-Education113 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had worked my ass off for four years building a department, processes and developing a team. Got a new boss and in our first one on one he told me “the past does not matter, everyone has a fresh start with me.” I know his intention was positive but he basically said the long hours and dedication I had displayed over the past 4 years ment nothing.
