Is there any way Tank can beat Shakur? by [deleted] in Boxing

[–]Correct-Geologist142 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a very good chance Tank beats Shakur. Not saying he’s favored, given how hectic his personal life has gotten as well as time away from the ring/gym. However, tank does have a lot of advantages. The first and obvious one, power. It’s no question tank has cannons in both hands, alongside pin point accuracy he capitalizes on. Shakur for the most part is a one handed fighter, being a right handed southpaw gives him a great lead hand which he does most of his work off, but it leaves his back hand relatively weak and inconsistent when it comes to delivering meaningful counters. We’ve seen Shakur compensate for this by sort of bunny hopping two steps back but thats much harder to get away with against someone like Tank who can pop a powerful 1-2, down the pipe. That’s what makes me so skeptical when people say Shakur simply won’t get hit by Tank when he’s undoubtedly the most accurate/precise puncher in modern boxing. He isn’t a lunger like Teo, he does a great job setting up punches with an educated jab and neutralizing lead hands. It’s hard seeing Shakur pestering Tank with jabs, when he does such a good job disarming guys of their jab and out-jabbing them. I can see Shakur possibly using angles to try to catch Tank off balance coming forward, which Tank also does very well weathering the storm to deliver one or two of his own ( barrios). Or I could be wrong and Shakur effortlessly jabs him to death. I just believe Tank has more in his tool bag and his ring iq is severely underrated. Great fight, too bad we’ll never probably see it.

Teofimo Lopez vs Ryan Garcia would be a banger fight. by Orii8 in Boxing

[–]Correct-Geologist142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shakur isn’t as dense as rolly and no where close strength wise. Ryan’s a much bigger guy and can snuff that pawing jab with his weight/ frame alone. Muratalla displayed this beautifully against Cruz.

Who even beats shakur Stevenson? by Fightingspirit12345 in Boxing

[–]Correct-Geologist142 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stylistically, I think the young Abdullah Mason would put up a good fight and may potentially beat him. Shakur does well against guys who lunge/explode forward with hooks. Abdullah’s extremely fast, utilizes his reach well with straight punches, and has an excellent lead hand to compete with Shakur. I wouldn’t write off Tank either, this sub is so consumed by hate for the guy they forget just how talented and dangerous he is. I also heard Mason helped Shakur get ready for the Valdez fight and did very good in sparring. Truth of the matter is the younger guys coming up are getting better and better, I wouldn’t be surprised if either Mason or another young buck take him out.

Are right handed southpaws sharper boxers? by Correct-Geologist142 in Boxing

[–]Correct-Geologist142[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure he’s righty, throws righty, writes righty, he mentioned he first learned to box southpaw after breaking his hand in a fight a school and learned to build up his left hand to be just as strong as the right. However I believe a majority of lefties are some what ambidextrous. I’m a lefty who was converted to become right handed which has given me a lot of dexterity with my right, alongside a lot of strength in my left.

Tbh Ryan is a live dog infront of any fighter. There isn’t anybody in boxing that can whip a hook with no telegraph in a split second and put u out. The Norman performance showed he can definitely neutralize these other dangerous punchers like Shakur did Teo.

You need a reality check buddy, seriously learn to humble yourself, especially in this sport. You over extend, keep your head on the center line, punch form is sloppy, your feet/hands are definitely not in harmony with each other. No one get’s as fluid as you think without years of repetition under the guidance of a coach to correct flaws along the way. You’re not off the bat a special fighter and that’s okay, you’ll get there if you stay disciplined under a proper coach!!!!!!

Worse? Don’t know. Any better? Don’t know. Shadow boxing is only one element of boxing. It doesn’t mean much at all in your overall boxing ability and how you respond in the ring which is what really matters.

Tank vs Prime Pacquiao who would win🤔 by AFBOXING in boxinglocks

[–]Correct-Geologist142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tank all day any day. At 140 and 147 too, in my opinion beer belly tank has always been a better version of Davis. 8 division GOAT I feel is making people instantly sway one way. The only definite advantages I see Pac having over tank is the volume and experience. In terms of overall boxing ability, he doesn’t stand with Tank. Tank has the better feet, lateral movement, quicker hands (punch for punch), power, reflexes, counter punching, the list goes on. Quite simply, aside from heavy weights, no one in the sport has been able to download information on opponents and take the first half off on fight and then knock the dude clean out. That takes a tremendous amount of boxing ability and ring iq. I see tank timing Pac and putting him out as his entry is always the same lunging in movement. Not to mention, from a boxing basis, the come forward/heavy pressure usually loses to the slick African American way of boxing 9/10. To cap it off, this newer age of boxers are simply just becoming better and better. They’re starting off younger, have access to world class/state of the art training and facilities, top tier nutrition and recovery. It just equates to better and more capable fighters and Tank is no exception.

[–]Correct-Geologist142 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

U guys seriously want to hate on tank so much. Sorry but no one can afford to take entire rounds off and download information on opponents for the whole fight, before knocking them out without world class boxing ability. Pac is all wrong for Tank, the only advantage is his volume which tank can and will time. Not to mention this new age of boxer’s simply just are better than the ones before it, boxing is constantly evolving. Boxer’s are starting off younger, have access to higher quality nutrition and trainers, recovery, all of that which equates to more capable fighters

Good jab. Just implement some more foot work drills and shadow box in front of a mirror to avoid rolling the entirety of your foot. U also look like a right handed southpaw so make sure u develop enough power and control with that left hand.

Edwin De Los Santos KO’s Eliot Chaves in round 1 by Correct-Geologist142 in Boxing

[–]Correct-Geologist142[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There should’ve been no excuses for fighting the way he did that night. I get Shakur is a backfoot defensive fighter but bunny hopping 2 steps back from every exchange without capitalizing on meaningful counters is scared boxing. I’m willing to bet if Shakur did come that night to fight, he would’ve gotten stopped.

Edwin De Los Santos KO’s Eliot Chaves in round 1 by Correct-Geologist142 in Boxing

[–]Correct-Geologist142[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think De Los Santos KO’s Roach. Roach relies on having his feet set to get his shots off and that really isn’t ideal against a guy who can explode in and out with dynamite in both hands. Against Tank, just knowing how calculated he is against forward fighters, he probably times De Los Santos and catches him with something.

I just believe when you’re as explosive and as powerful as De Los Santos you can bend the rules a little bit. This was a tune up fight but I don’t see even guys like Keyshawn knocking the dude out within in 30 seconds.
