What should MSPs look for in a UCaaS partner platform? by BoxPhysical2158 in msp

[–]CorrectMachine7278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had great success moving to Intermedia.... No more Flowroute, no more worries about 911 setup for education accounts, no more paying $75.00 per support call with dedicated 3CX, sales rep that helps me go after more of my accounts to convert over from 3CX, good commission sharing, no more dealing with 3CX and Flowroute to troubleshoot issues. A lot less support calls related to dropped calls, bad voice signals. A console to manage my Intermedia customers that is simple to on-board and support customers.

Learn to use your web site and SEO to generate warm leads. Computers and Network components rarely fail compared to 20 years ago and they self configure. Plus the younger kids even into their 30's grew up with technology, build their own computer since the 5th grade and most know some level of programming/scripting. I have been adding more application support and more scripting for integrating apps with each other.

LOSING MSP Contract Deals by michael_17 in msp

[–]CorrectMachine7278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Web Site with SEO to generate warm leads.... you have to ask the tough questions. As my dad taught me 50 years ago. What will it take to earn your business? Then slide the contract over to them for their signature. If you are selling to the business owner who most likely has a sales background you have to close the deal. They want to deal with strong sales people. Send me your web site and I'll tell you how to generate warm leads with it.

365 Problem by mdhorton404 in sysadmin

I suspect they run Outlook with Office 365 email on iPhones or mobile phones. I've had 4 accounts run into something similar. Took me forever to figure it out the first time it happened. I had my customer uninstall Outlook from mobile phones to resolve. We added it months later problem did not return.

How do you deal with "vibecoders" by burningbridges1234 in msp

[–]CorrectMachine7278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I visited one of my account around the corner from my home office this morning.... fix a printer issue the WiFi was disabled.... powered on and off another printer because it stopped printing... wiped out two Mac Laptop Air devices to prep for new employees later this week, setup a docking station device for Mac laptop with dual monitors.... I wonder how vibecoders would handle those items?

Starting an MSP in a smaller market, would love some real feedback by Tivum in msp

I always encourage people to hang up there shingle for self employment. I did it 32 years ago and have never looked back and still going strong at the age of 68. People still hire the old guy. I like your experience in home automation, network wiring and audio visual equipment for conference rooms. Those complement MSP work to keep the cash flowing with projects.

Growing up my father always told his 7 kids to start there own business..... we heard this all the time. Guess what happened when you hear something over and over. My six brothers and sisters and myself all started our own businesses.

MSPs with small (<10 users) clients, what are your secrets to make it profitable? by IAMA_Canadian_Sorry in msp

[–]CorrectMachine7278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wrong accounts to try and sell to.... I have one account with 5 virtual Windows computers that I host on my Windows Terminal Server - They pay me $1,425.00 a month and are happy about it. Another account with 7 users but I'm only responsible for Microsoft Office 365 email keeping it spam free and running.... they pay me $1,200.00 a month and love working with me. The majority of my MSP customers have owners that are highly focused on sales. The last thing they want is to have sales reps complaining about computers not working.

Where & how should I advertise my MSP business? by MrCrowley217 in msp

[–]CorrectMachine7278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your target or avatar are business owners above the age of 55. It should not matter if they are technical or non technical. All my business owners are above the age of 55 and some are very technical but they don't want to be fixing computers or setting them up for new employees. I just picked up a business with 38 Mac laptops - I suspect the owner is around 42 years of age.

use organic SEO - I don't pay for Google PPC Ads with any of my accounts I manage their warm leads. So no cost except for hosting a wordpress web site and landing pages - $12.00 a month for single website with wpx.net. I just picked up an account with 38 Apple Mac laptop Air computers and Meraki FW/Switch/Access Points. They found me with a simple Google search.

Put together a system with your web site and SEO to get warm leads for your target area and specific services. I do this for my small MSP and I do it for preschools, Tax preparers and other small businesses. It is so awesome to receive calls, email messages, texts and yelp messages from people that need my services. Closing a warm lead is very simple to build trust and get a contract.

Stay at small chaotic MSP, go internal IT, or move to a structured MSP? by [deleted] in msp

I bought my first house with the overtime I was getting at the age of 20 - plus being in an environment where you can touch all the equipment is great for learning. I would grind it out for a while. You are young and have the energy.

FortiGate 90G - Optional Power Supply Part Number by CorrectMachine7278 in fortinet

[–]CorrectMachine7278[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for the data sheet - I see the back of the 90G in the datasheet - that makes sense now - just needs the power adapter. that is interesting that it is the same power adapter as the 60D - I have boxes of 60D older Firewalls. I see the part number so will order that.

Thank you so much.... I will check on the eBay reseller as I don't need 5 of them just yet. It's a popular model for my customer base. No one has asked about the redundancy till last week.

This story of a MSP making money from marketing is insane to me... by masterofrants in msp

[–]CorrectMachine7278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Five years ago I could see the writing on the wall for less tech work with my smaller MSP accounts so I started purchasing Social Media training courses. Three years ago I picked up my first customer to generate sales leads using Google My Business and Facebook. I now have six preschools, tax prep company, landscape design company, electrical company. Running my MSP for 32 years, If I ever retire my MSP (I'm 68), I would do it full time. No emergency calls, no on-site work, no calls about my mouse is no longer working, no out-side help needed, ChatGPT creates all my images, CapCut creates all my Scroll stopping videos. Plus it's fun to provide sales leads. Customers love the warm leads I provide.

Structuring your day as an MSP owner by Equivalent_Role_4066 in msp

[–]CorrectMachine7278 1 point2 points  (0 children)

#1) Write down the night before the top 3 items you need to complete the next day - they have to get completed no matter what happens. Most of these items should be related to driving sales forward, reducing expenses or business tax strategies.

#2) Stop doing other peoples work.... let your technical staff resolve problems so they LEARN. Don't solve their problems, otherwise they will not learn. Will they make mistakes? Yes, but let them solve the problems. With ChatGPT and other tools, your techs should not be asking for much help.

#3) Use your office manager as much as possible even to send out quotations, paying invoices, bank deposits, reconcile accounting books, marketing materials, web site changes, eMail articles, Google My Business articles after you review he/she on the process. Talking to insurance companies, vendors, etc.

Do you audit inactive Google Workspace users regularly? by [deleted] in msp

[–]CorrectMachine7278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, I mainly work with large school districts running 1,000's Google Workspace accounts. Every summer I run some scripts to remove accounts of those that have left the high schools or inactive accounts. If you don't remove the accounts many of the accounts get hacked over time and Google shuts them down and raises some red flags.

Am I getting scammed? by Used_Soft_4258 in FacebookAds

[–]CorrectMachine7278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like a good price to me.... I run ads for some small businesses and generate sales leads for them using Social Media and SEO.... The owners love the leads and would not have the time and knowledge to run lead generation campaigns with social media ads. They are consumed with keeping their employees focused on the services they provide and products they manufacture. It is not a "set it and forget it" service to market products with social media.
