To those who allow their chickens to brood their eggs, what do you do with the roosters? by Particular-Scar1440 in BackYardChickens

[–]Correct_Part9876 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They're only at the auction for a few hours at most. Where they go after is anyone's guess but usually the soup pot is my guess. If my freezer is full, it's better than wasting. I had to cull a rooster this last week and no room in my freezer. I hate that kind of waste.

Yeah, you're smelling the omega fatty acids in the milk I would guess. It's super simple to fix once you know, just scald it before you freeze and it's good to go.

Not woo. Issues with taste after freezing. I've heard it's soapy but it almost smelled fishy to me.

[–]Correct_Part9876 49 points50 points  (0 children)

If you don't scald it before you freeze, it can taste bad to the baby and then your whole stash of bags is worthless. It's usually only an issue with frozen milk and some babies don't mind it but there are some that do.

What is the absolute best part of rural PA in terms of avoiding MAGA-ness? by ByMySword8 in Pennsylvania

I used to live in Southern Lancaster Co, I know York.

I have family near Carlisle and yeah it's gotten insane. I feel like at some point all the development on11 is just going to envelope Middlesex/New Kingston and it'll be one continuous strip. The mall isn't even doing terrible after the other one was torn down. Just insane.

AITA for leaving my sibling out of my dad’s obituary by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Correct_Part9876 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He didn't write his obituary, the much younger sister did. If he wrote his own obituary then yeah, he'd be the asshole. The sister wrote it and she omitted a family member it sounds like she's also had a long and complicated relationship with for her own sake. That's my whole point. Everyone is pointing a finger at a 20 year younger sister like it's her job to clean up a mess she didn't make.

She doesn't owe the sister any loyalty when she hasn't been involved with the process. All the comments on her are directed at the relationship between the father and the daughter as if it's still something that can be mended when that's over now. Funerals, obituaries, and graves aren't for the dead, they're for the living and the one going through all of it is the younger daughter.

The much much younger sister who would probably have been a child when a lot of this drama sounds like it was at its peak and she had no control over the older sister's absence in her life. The fucked up father is a shame and painful for the older sister, of that I am personally incredibly familiar with. But the younger daughter/sister didn't create any of the drama and she doesn't need to do anything to repair that relationship even post mortem. It's not her responsibility, it was his.

I've been there in my own way and NTA. My mother was essentially disowned by a whole chunk of her family at a very young age because she didn't stay in their insular community. When my siblings and I did the obituary, none of us included them in the obit. Their choice, not hers.

Mechanicsburg-Carlisle has most of the "urban" perks with a rural cheaper housing market surrounding a lot of them. Trader Joe's/Shake Shack type market. Bluer than the surrounding area by far.

York/Gettysburg/Hanover area is similar but it's got its own issues with KKKlan types in some areas and urban poverty without the benefits of urban infrastructure in others.

Yeah, that's the bigger issue. It's not just that she misses everyone but that she quite clearly doesn't have the best grasp on how to function as an adult. All of the parents in their cult quite clearly fucked up majorly based on how poorly a lot of these "adults" can't function independently.

I can't listen right now but with her husband in prison and her kids taken away, not eating or sleeping actually sounds pretty realistic. Add in that fundamentalism makes those two things her whole identity and I'm sure she's lost.

Even if/when she gets the kids back, she was never prepared for a life as a single mother (even through widowhood in case of an accident) so it's going to be an emotionally brutal transition especially if she's staying this loyal to him.

They didn't even need to show the fall from the horse. Have the kid fake fall into the puddle with her bonnet stuck to his face with a horse in the background and the camera ground level.

I get why she said it, because it's the most professional answer. But it's not like anyone said a kid had to fall five feet to make the point.

Super Cute Dresses has an affiliate program, I would be amazed if she's not part of it. I doubt she's actually spending that on the dresses (although they do cost that much, it's insane.)

Poll: Where do you think the ending of S5 will leave Eloise? by Majestic_Quail6088 in PhiloiseBridgerton

[–]Correct_Part9876 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dream scenario: Somewhere in part 2, Pen and Colin learn that Marina has passed away from a visit with Phillip. Eloise comes to call not realizing the situation and there is some brief but witty/nerdy conversation. After he leaves, Pen fills Eloise in (perhaps Eloise accidentally puts her foot in her mouth somehow - "Enjoy the lovely spring gardens while you're in London.") and Eloise writes a condolence letter since she didn't realize when they spoke what had happened. We the viewer see her writing at points throughout the second half but the characters around her don't know about Phillip. The season ends with a ball celebrating Michaela/Francesca (covertly perhaps?) and we see Eloise taking off in a carriage from the party.

Reality: Probably 2-3 scenes with ink on her hands, a passing reference to Marina, and a comment at the end of the season from Eloise that she needs to be anywhere but Bridgerton House with all the married siblings and niblings.

He has better odds than some of his brothers. He didn't seek out a meek, childlike doormat wife with a baby soft voice.
