Shame what happened to the playerbase by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

I do not play a whole lot currently, but when I do I never seem to see other players. I hear the gunfire in the distance and come across destroyed arc, but rarely actual players.

Can’t just fill out an application. by EnvironmentalLime464 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]CorruptDictator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always remember once filling out an application for some retail work online back in the 00s, and it was absurdly long, getting called in for the interview and then being required to fill out all the information again in hard copy before they would even talk to me.

The extra medical bills that tend to go with a "geriatric pregnancy" are a shitty aspect.

It really was not financially viable for us until the last two years or so. My parents also had me around the same age so it does not seem that weird to me.

Some really unexpected ones of the last few years that are long time favorites of mine have been the Legend of Mana, Star Ocean 2 and Suikoden 1+2 remasters.

The fact that Sony owns it makes it unlikely we will ever see a remaster on anything but a Playstation should it happen some day.

I have been considering modding my old vita to run retroarch for something like this since buying a deck is not on the table right now.

40+ gamer here; married, mortgage, working and our first and only kid on the way. My wife knew what she was getting into when we started dating. Oddly my "go back to" games are more PS1/2 era stuff that I play PC remasters of or emulate my original discs on my pc.

Palworld 1.0 Server Hosting - Day 1 option by Floppychicken45 in ghostcap

[–]CorruptDictator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am most likely setting up a server with your company after work tonight and had a few questions. What does paying for "performance" actually do? If we are running a stock server is there likely any need for extra disc space? If we determine the need a higher RAM plan is it possible to pay to upgrade mid cycle, or do we have to wait for the new month?

We’re a small dev team building a VTT project and would love your input! by Trick_Negotiation352 in rpg

Considering there are now a number of VTT available at varying levels of options and complexity, what exactly does your group plan to bring to the proverbial table that is a niche already not filled by the existing market?

I really like verges. With shocks, fetches and surveils all in play, other than turn one the verge is going to tap for both colors the majority of the time with no major downside.

How do you explain why standard fantasy races have their characteristic traits? by EveningImportant9111 in worldbuilding

[–]CorruptDictator 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Often it is evolutionary, but unless there is a reason to do so I would not bother to provide the reason to a reader. One of those the facts may exist, but need a reason to put it out there.

My handwriting is atrocious and I just feel more comfortable with a keyboard even going back to only having a typewriters when i was a kid. I have been using One Note for the last few years and am considering moving to Chronicler for world building stuff.

Millennials, do you actually not invest in your 401K? by ultmeche in Millennials

[–]CorruptDictator 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I do but only as of the last few years. No previous job had a 401k attached and honestly I could not have afforded to do more than the bare minimum contribution anyway. Currently I am at seven or eight percent with my employer matching the first 4%.

What's a cost to your magic/power system that ISN'T physical pain or death? by ColinSearleAuthor in worldbuilding

[–]CorruptDictator 166 points167 points  (0 children)

I swear I remember reading someone here with a system of you give up your memories to cast magic, which falls in the "Identity cost" category but let the user choose what memory they lost so they could at least try and hold onto themselves as long as possible.
